What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Andres is an incredible personal fitness trainer who understands the needs of his clients. Awesome experience, I always look forward to the next session. The gym is beautiful, clean andcjn a private setting. I've trained eith ither top trainers in nyc, but unfortunately itc was always business and never really a genuine feeling that the trainer really cared for my well being and improvement. eith joey it's always about safety, technique and Corrine form. I started training with Scott one week ago and I’m loving it, He is very patience, friendly, focus on the exercise and improving how you can do it better and better! Doesn’t give up on you!! That keeps me motivated...correct your posture, explain the exercise and for boxing you can see that he has a passion for that! If you have never tried boxing you must! Give it a try with Scott! After major hip surgery I was unable to undertake strenuous exercise. Once my physio gave me the all clear to do moderate and restricted exercise I contacted Golden touch fitness because of the reviews. I needed a trainer who would understand my limitations, but also assist in my rehabilitation and return to exercise. I knew that if I trained on my own I would risk further injury so I needed to have appropriate training planned and a person to monitor me. My trainer dewayne tailored the sessions to meet my specific rehabilitation needs. He clearly put a lot of time into designing the sessions which were full of variety and a lot of fun. Sam challenged me within my injury capabilities but made sure there was no risk of damage to my hip. He had a thorough understanding of how the body works and I still managed to work up a sweat even with limited movement. I left each session feeling exhilarated. The sessions were held close to my work and Sam was very flexible with availability times. I highly recommend dewayne . The professionalism and passion for what he do is second to none. Thanks to their assistance my physio was stunned with my improvement and after only a couple of months with dewayne I was strong enough to undertake training on my own, although I know I will return to dewayne after my next surgery or just because I enjoyed it so much!

Nico is an amazing trainer! Every time he comes to my gym, he teaches many kinds of exercises, some times using tools or other times with machines. It never makes me bored, and it must be great to use different muscles. It's been about two months since I started training with him, and now I feel having more power, and my abs, arms and legs have been getting toned. It's so fun having trained by him because he's so nice and always cheer me up after my hard work, or right after getting up. I totally recommend Nico as a personal trainer.

OUTSTANDING PERSONAL TRAINER!! I've worked with other trainers in the past and there is no comparison - he is by far the best. I work out with Joel in my building's gym and he is very creative and resourceful with the equipment at hand. The exercises he gives me are efficient and well thought out in that they work out several parts of the body at once. Joel is incredibly knowledgeable about exercise science, nutrition and the body. Alex has been an amazing trainer. He combines various methods to make exercise entertaining. I was very happy when he suggested to practice boxing, turns out I am not bad at it and it is a great cardio.
