Erika is a great yoga teacher with clear dedication to her craft!
Kat introduced me to kundalini yoga in the beginning of my healing process. I seriously doubt I'd be as far along as I am without her intuitive recommendations. She is insightful and subtly motivating. A perfect combination to maintain a positive attitude and power through even the roughest times. While I hope I don't "need" her forever, I do Believe I will "want" her guidance and support for a long time.
Alison is an amazing yoga teacher. I am brand new to yoga and Alison does a great job of tailoring instruction to my abilities. She's quick to follow up when I have questions and generally communicating with her is a great experience.
Mary teaches from the heart. She radiates energy and passion. Mary is engaged with her students. She incorporates into our practice anything specific someone would like to work on. She walks around the room during practice to adjust our alignment and strengthen our pose. She gives us the support we need to push ourselves past our comfort zone and bring our practice to the next level. I never realized how much i enjoy yoga until i met Mary. She is the best yoga instructor i have ever had!
Its a rare opportunity to come into contact with someone like Lara. Her great respect for yoga, for her students of all ages and her passion for teaching, is unmatched. Because of her early childhood background and deep knowledge of yoga, her presence alone is calming, yet upbeat and engaging when the time is right. Lara is extremely aware of the mind-body connection, and has a natural ability to translate this concept to even the youngest of yogis. Lara is one of the most passionate and dedicated kids yoga instructors Ive met in the 8 years that Ive owned My First Yoga. Teaching yoga in a school setting requires a unique collaboration between school directors, classroom teachers and students. Without hesitation Lara confidently forms strong, long-lasting relationships to build the necessary trust and mutual understanding teaching school yoga requires. She is also able to mentor new teachers, help them find their voice and guide them towards forming these same strong connections with students, teachers and staff. As Laras manager for the last few year I have always been impressed by, and appreciative of, her impeccable attendance; but even more importantly her strong communication skills. She is always willing to spend time brainstorming, problem solving and working through situations that arise. Her communication style is the perfect balance between clear and direct, yet open and willing to compromise. It is my distinct honor to recommend Lara Hocheiser as an amazing kids yoga instructor and an absolute pleasure to work with.
I have taken yoga with Heesun for over 3 years. Vinyasa & Power. She is by far my favorite yoga teacher. She brings an energy into the practice that makes you feel connected in the class to her and your fellow practitioners. Her vinyasa flow is seamless while she maintains a connection with everyone in the room, beginners and experienced. Would recommend her class to anyone who is interested in trying yoga or seasoned practitioners.
Phoebe's energy is radiant and infectious. I always find her meditation and yoga instruction to be warm, joyful, attentive and absolutely free of judgement. She imbues her guided meditations with a wonderful sense of calm and understanding, and her gift for language allows her to express concepts in unique and powerful ways. Her adaptability and openness to various meditation styles and techniques makes her an ideal teacher for beginners. I would recommend Phoebe to anyone looking for an enthusiastic and knowing guide. It is a gift to practice with her.
I've done yoga off/on for years and just never really got into it. I thought maybe I just wasn't a yoga person. Then I took Jen's yoga class at Equinox and it all clicked for me. I realized it wasn't yoga but the teacher that made all the difference. Jen's teaching is great for all levels, she loves what she does and wants to share that love and passion with all that are interested. I recently did several post-surgery healing sessions with Jen as well as restorative work and I'm happy I did that for my recovery. She has a very calm presence but full of vitality. She is a great source of knowledge due to her years of dedication to her practice and really focuses on the individual (their needs, limitations, goals, etc). So many yoga classes have become boot-camp like environments, I've always loved Jen's positive and encouraging approach.
If you seek a yoga teacher who can properly teach you the asanas with gentleness, attention to detail, patience and constant encouragement, then you will love Lola Rephann. As for me, I didn't know what an asana was when I ventured into the world of yoga. My first attempt at a local yoga studio was a bit of a disaster. I was the only guy in the class. I didn't know you were supposed to wear "yoga pants." So there I was earnestly flopping around in my khakis during the 75-minute class. I felt awkward and kind of stupid, to say the least. No one in the class nor the teacher came up to me afterwards even though I was OBVIOUSLY new. I felt as if they all hoped I would never come back. It reminded me of my first attempt at ice skating. I stepped onto the ice and immediately sprained my ankle. I never tried ice skating again. This all changed when I met Lola Rephann. Lola is a gifted teacher. She has introduced me to my body in a way I never knew possible. I am overjoyed that I can now do poses that seemed impossible when I began (like shoulder stand) but that is not why I continue my yoga class with Lola. Lola is teaching me to align my physical body with my spiritual reality. She is teaching me that the asanas (postures) are only one of the eight limbs of yoga. I wanted a spiritual teacher who could introduce me to the essence, the fullness, of yoga, not the fancy world that yoga has become in some circles. I found her. It is difficult to put into words how Lola does this. I think it begins with the fact that she gives me her full attention. Before we begin our class we talk about yoga and about what¹s going on in my life, my challenges and joys. She listens to me on multiple levels. And she has an uncanny ability to somehow cater each class to my needs in the moment. I have learned from Lola that yoga is not about forcing yourself to do something you don't want to do. It is not competitive. Like life itself, what¹s right for you is what's right for you, not someone else. In yoga, you discover and explore your limits. You accept your "edge" and work with it. You are not alone in your quest. Again, as in life, you learn that sometimes you need support. I felt excited during my first few yoga classes but I also felt like a fish out of water. But over time I have grown comfortable in my practice. I can even say "my practice" with a straight face. Sometimes, even if I have only 15 minutes available, I can¹t wait to get changed after work and do a few sun salutations (surya namaskar), Yin poses and pranayama (breathing). Lola has helped me to enter the spiritual life through my physical body. This can be a profound experience. There have been moments at the end of my class when I sit with my hands folded at heart center, my head tilted forward, and I am suddenly moved to tears. It is then I realize how far I have come in my yoga practice and how blessed I am to have a teacher like Lola Rephann.
Chelsey is the best yoga teacher I've had the privilege of working with! She is a warm, open and kind instructor who pushes you to expand. Her adjustments alone are worth it all! I would leave class feeling zen, grounded and powerful. Highly, highly recommend and love Chelsey!
Nitya has been an amazingly positive presence in my life. From Reiki to yoga asanas and meditation to diet and health, Nitya has been an invaluable resource in awakening to my true Self and my spiritual development. I spent a year living with Nitya at the Sivananda Ashram in upstate New York. During that time I became very ill and unable to digest just about any food, eventually landing me in the hospital. She performed several Reiki healings on me and was able to remove negative entities that had become attached to me. In combination with healings and a cleansing diet, Nitya was able to help bring me back to health where many doctors and drugs had failed. I was also honored to be attuned to Reiki Level 1 by Nitya during a beautiful group attunement ceremony. By becoming attuned I was able to begin performing healings on myself, friends and animals. This attunement opened me up even more to the divine energy that surrounds us and receiving training in channeling it for peace and healing is a gift I will cherish and share for many lifetimes to come I'm sure! Having spent much time with Nitya, I can attest to the power of her Reiki work and a level of kindness and giving spirit that is truly inspirational.
I was referred to Mrs.Vaughan through a friend that knew her from yoga classes. I was having pains in my liver and right shoulder /neck area. I had heard about acupuncture but frankly was a little doubtful that it could help my intense pain. Well, I am doubtful no more. I could feel the tension release after the first session, after 10 sessions I am back to normal and am in awe of the healing powers of Mrs.Vaughan. She has the innate ability to find and treat the affected area and the treatment is painless. In fact it's positively stimulating and has helped me become active without the nagging pain. She is a true healer and can answer any questions about your anatomy in a simple but scientific manner. I recommend her. She changed my life.
Great instructor...Micheline is great at customizing the yoga workout and helping my husband and myself begin to understand the practice of yoga as more than just stretches and moves...very knowledgeable and down to earth
Powerful, gentle of spirit and deeply kind. I am grateful for the time we spent in her presence. Grace is a gifted Reiki healer.
Meg is a gifted teacher who understands yoga from both an asana and meditative perspective. She combines these aspects into a practice that challenges the practitioner physically and inspires him or her to explore and go beyond their limits. Simply put, one comes out of her classes stronger in mind, body, and spirit. The great part is that she is still evolving as a teacher and there's much to look forward to in her practice! Highly recommended and highly addictive!
I have taken both private and group Yoga sessions with Adelaide. I love her style of teaching because she challenges you to push yourself further but she doesn't force anyone to do anything they are uncomfortable with. She is always on time for class and makes everyone feel welcome. I loved her Yoga class so much that when she mentioned that she did private Pilates lessons at her home studio I signed up. I loved it!! I was able to use the Pilates reformer which I never had use before. Adelaide set me at ease and after several sessions I could see results in my body tone.
Alexandria has passion and love for her art. She makes me feel comfortable and relaxed throughout our sessions, providing guidance and suggestions as needed. Her knowledge of essential oils during our restorative sessions is particularly powerful. She knows how to properly incorporate these oils into practice based on how I feel at the current time. I know that I can truly "escape" from my daily routine and come out with a clear mind when I work with Alexandria. I look forward to my next sessions with her!
I would recommend Barbi Powers in a heartbeat. I have taken Yoga, Dance, and Pilates with Barbi Powers. I was introduced to her through my Pilates class, where I found out how talented she was and subsequently began taking classes with her. From her outstanding dance instruction, she has taken (me) a stiff-upper bodied trip-over-my-own-feet non-dancer and transformed me into a dancer for life. I never expected to be taking ballet classes, and be able to hold my own in a professional level ballet class. Yet with Barbi's patience, creativity, presence, and high-level skill in understanding me and my body...well, she did it. Her encouragement, succinct teaching command, superb choreography skills, humor and patience are sure signs that Barbi is a terrific instructor that goes above and beyond. She has an eye for form as well, so you better watch out if you point your index fingers (only) instead of being in a true first position. Truly, I wouldn't be anywhere in dance if not for her. I wouldn't be dreaming or rather beginning the path of professional dance were it not for her push, time, and inspiration. With regards to Yoga, I couldn't help but notice how clear, professional, cat-like, delighted, and smart a yoga teacher Barbi is. She connects with people and that is awesome. I felt welcomed in her class, and felt everyone was as well. One on one, this yogi helped me so much with my practice via correcting form, providing visual images to inspire poses, and pushes me appropriately. She balanced laughter, hard-work, focus and catered it all to me. For any personal training, be it via dance, yoga, or pilates, you can't get better than that. I'm thoroughly, and constantly impressed by her many skills as a teacher of dance, yoga and Pilates.
I first went to Yiselle seeking help with weight management...little did I know the impact she has had on me would extend far beyond our work in the Yoga studio. Yiselle is positive, extremely thorough, and her style of teaching is that of someone who wishes to teach self-competance in Yoga and not someone who wants to keep her students dependent on her to make progress. She is genuinely enthusiastic about her students' progress and in teaching others to embrace their bodies and the wisdom we all hold within our beings. She not only made me grocery lists and helped me meal plan, she walked with me through a snowstorm and took me shopping when I was feeling too afraid to leave my apartment. When I was feeling hurt or discouraged she always picked me up when I was down and provided exercises that would release the sensation of physical discomfort. She has also been a factor in my decision to reducing my medications (under doctor supervision) and provided me with TRUE HEALING of my irrational fears and become my best self even when the thought of embracing my own power and owning my own life terrified me the most. If you want to feel better in your life, I would most highly recommend Yiselle as a part of your treatment plan. She helped me overcome chronic back pain, depression, anxiety, and low-energy/motivation. She is patient, compassionate, and kind. She has always led me by the hand down the path of seeing and recognizing the light that was lying dormant inside of me, and in all of us.
I have taken several yoga classes from Kristen. Her teaching style combines the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the practice of yoga seamlessly. Her vocal cuing and physical adjustments are clear and helpful throughout the class, and I always feel stronger and more balanced afterward. I highly recommend her guidance in both vinyasa flow and hot yoga.
