Piano Lessons Teachers Ready to Help

  • Local Piano Lessons for Adults

    Posterity Studio

    (58 reviews)

I am one of Davids students and I can tell you he is an excellent music teacher as well as producer and vocal coach. I started my piano lessons with David and within 3 or so months I was already playing full songs. Currently I am recording an album project at Posterity Studios with David as my producer/engineer and vocal coach. I can tell you that so far what has been pre-produced is very impressive and I am enjoying the direction the album is taking. Not only am I having David provide some of the music, but I also have live instrumentation being recorded as well....guitars, drums, and bass along with my background vocalist. So if you are looking to take lessons for piano or for vocal lessons or plan on cutting an album, Posterity Studios is the place to go. I am pleased with the lessons and also with the work David is doing on my album project.

I took voice lessons ages ago and have been thinking about picking them up again. After doing some research I decided to go with David. I am so glad I did. He is professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He has a very great teaching style and he obviously knows what he's talking about. I'm very pleased with my experience so far and will recommend him to anyone that wants to improve any part of their singing.

  • Piano Instruction Services

    Maria Brodskaya

    (26 reviews)

Maria is in my opinion, my best piano teacher I ever had. She is so kind and friendly to be learning with. Each time I have trouble with a piece of music, such as rhythm or just note problems, she has confidence in me and pushes me to my limits. This is excellent, because even if I didn't think I could do it, she knows I can and helps me improve in it. She helped me with my finger movements on the piano in a matter of lessons, which my previous teachers couldn't accomplish. She helped me improve on my rhythm and how to use it information on my other instruments as well. Maria B. is an extraordinary piano teacher and her lessons are something to look forward to, because other than learning a bunch of new material, she makes her lessons fun and easy.

  • Private Piano Lessons

Lessons in Piano, Guitar, Theory, Composition

    (17 reviews)

I am a musician and composer living in Brooklyn and teaching private piano lessons in New York City. I bring to lessons a solid and expansive education in music performance, theory, and composition in different styles, as well as the ability to explain and display the necessary skills in a variety of ways for a diversity of learning styles. I teach an aggressive curriculum, but one that is tailored to the student's personal strengths and weaknesses, and I always remain gentle and patient while guiding my students through the rewarding process of learning to create music. I have been playing the piano for 20 years, studying music performance, theory, and history at Concord Academy, The Wells College Program for the Arts in Paris, and Sarah Lawrence College, where I also studied electronic music, ethnomusicology, composition, and conducting. I am currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in composition at Brooklyn College Conservatory. Please feel free to contact me at any time either via email or phone with any questions.

  • Piano Teacher

    Raj Bhimani

    (10 reviews)

As a conservatory-trained pianist myself, my standards are high, and it was important to me that my children have an excellent teacher. Raj IS that teacher. He has been the sole piano teacher for all four of my children (that means, at any given time, at least one of my children has been under his tutelage for the past 26 years!), and we couldn’t be more pleased with our choice. Raj has both a superlative command of piano pedagogy -- imparting solid fundamentals to carry students through increasingly difficult repertoire -- and a wonderful ability to connect with his students. My children all like and respect him and value the lessons he’s taught them about piano, musicianship, diligence, preparation, and so much more. They are all fine musicians and enjoy making music thanks to his wonderful guidance. He has truly given my kids a life-long gift (and, me as well, since I get to listen to and play duets with them!). Raj is fully dedicated to and proud of each and every student, giving them the opportunity to share what they’ve accomplished with regular playing classes for each other and several recitals throughout the year for family and friends. One can clearly see at these performances how well prepared his students are and how he fosters musicality in each of them, whether they are working on a beginner piece or a difficult Beethoven sonata. I have recommended Raj to many families over the years, and it is my pleasure to continue to recommend him without reservation.

Marco was very patient with me when teaching me the drums for the first time. I was definitely hesitant trying a new instrument but he has a lot of experience in both drums and piano and was able to help me read music and actually hold the sticks properly! I recommend him if you are thinking about learning the drums!

Thumbtack Spotlight

Raj Bhimani

(10 reviews)

Learning how to play the piano takes more than just skill. It takes dedication and a true passion for music. Raj Bhimani knows the challenges that come your way as you perfect your craft, and his support and instruction will surely help you make great progress.

I love the meaningful relationships I share with the students I teach. Most of the children I've taught study from age 6 until they leave for college. This makes me part of their lives as they grow through childhood into young adulthood and as they are introduced to the music of the great composers. I love being the person who shows them how to find Middle C and the one who gets to teach them their first Beethoven Sonata. With adult students, I love making their dreams come true. So many of the adults I've taught either wanted to play since childhood but didn't have the opportunity or had lessons but didn't continue as long as they wish they had. I love seeing how much it means to them when they finally realize their goals.

Raj is based in New York, NY. He has a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, which was followed by three years of private study in Paris. He's had the privilege of seeing his students perform at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Families who bring their children to me for lessons care deeply about music and about giving their children the best introduction possible. They know I'll take the students through every step necessary to have music be a part of their lives forever. Adult students know I'll work patiently and diligently to help them through the challenging steps so they can find the joy of making music.
