About

Patrick takes a different approach than vanilla voice lessons. He is a voice physiologist so he literally fixes your instrument. The instruction can be intense but it is well worth it. In a short time I have improved in ways I did not think possible. I am looking forward to the coming months to see where my range and ability will be.

Jan is truly an amazing teacher, she is fun and energetic, supportive and very knowledgeable. I brought my wife for a beginner voice lesson (she had never taken one before) as a surprise birthday present, and Jan really made it a birthday to remember! Jan taught my wife how to use her voice as a musical instrument, and encouraged her to sing her heart out. Grazie mille!

Anette gave voice lessons to my 11 year old daughter. She was knowledgable, patient, and fun. She worked on songs that my daughter wanted to sing. She was understanding about school schedules. And it was great to be able to hear the entire lesson through dropbox.

About

Thumbtack has given my studio the "Best of 2015 award" for Voice lessons in New York City. Reach your vocal potential! No matter what style of music you sing, breath and resonance must work together to create the desired sound. My studio includes professional performers and serious hobby enthusiasts. (What do I mean by serious? Taking at least two lessons monthly.) Talent is a given, but reaching your vocal potential requires work, discipline and regular study. Though I am versed in the latest scientific advances and trends in vocal pedagogy, my teaching style is based on the Lamperti Italian bel canto techniques of balanced registration. To sing well, a singer must know how to play their body on command. Balancing breath management with resonance usage, and making necessary adjustments in registration produces the desired vocal sound. As a teacher, my goal is to provide every singer with the proper tools for producing the desired sound in the healthiest way possible. The constant is always breath balanced against the resonance usage. When your breath is freed correctly, you are free to communicate efficiently in song. All new students are evaluated to determine their current level of ability, correct vocal classification, current and potential range, and preferred learning modalities. All areas of voice performance are addressed including breath management, registration, resonance, vocal health, repertoire suggestions, diction, and performance preparation. Basic musicianship is addressed if needed. This includes how to read a musically notated vocal line, understanding time signatures and rhythm, understanding the differences in style, learning how to inform a lyric, mic techniques (where applicable), and suggestions for appropriate repertoire. Though most of my students see immediate improvement, learning to master your voice is a journey that stretches over the course of your entire career. It boils down to "practice, practice, practice" which includes performing along the way. I look forward to helping you on your vocal journey. Please note: Internet lessons are available via OOVOO (ID is "singnow") to clients I have seen in person PRIOR to the Internet. This has provided solutions to my X Factor clients while they taped in LA and to music theater pros during extended out-of-town tours. I only recommend Internet lessons as a Band-Aid solution if the client cannot appear in the studio. VoIP technology is not a substitute for the sound produced in person and is also unreliable (think about how often a live feed is interrupted while you watch remote broadcasts). Here's a note for parents: I am very experienced in preparing students for performing arts university programs and for high school auditions. These programs are very competitive. The longer your child has studied, the better his/her chance to win a place. I recommend students begin studying weekly at least one month in advance of the audition date for high school auditions and ideally at the start of junior year (or before) for college preparation. Vocal study counts as a "soft" in college entrance consideration when the student has participated in vocal solo festivals like NYSSMA. Testimonials are as follows: "As a teacher, Maria Fattore is caring and perceptive. Most importantly, she is able to supply her students with technical help that goes well beyond imagery into concrete, intelligible technical adjustments to solve vocal issues." -- Ira Siff, The Metropolitan Opera "Working with Maria Fattore is the fastest way from point A to point B. Every time I work with her, I find more vocal freedom. She is the best in the city!" -- Babs Winn, AEA "In a nutshell, Maria not only teaches amazing technique, but she also gives you the skills to survive a long run." -- Kenny Wade Marshall, AEA "Maria is amazing! She gave me a technique, and our work landed me on X Factor. She's one of the rare ones that actually knows what she's talking about. She will make you better! I love working with her." -- Al Calderon, AEA "Maria's interactive teaching is efficient, and her feedback addresses my vocal issues scientifically and visually. The homework assignments are tailor-made for me and have helped accelerate my progress, improve my tone and range, and given me more vocal freedom. She is a solid, responsible and knowledgeable educator." -- L. Wang, Teacher "My 14-year-old daughter is preparing for fall auditions, and we were referred to Maria. My daughter learned more in one session with Maria than she had learned after 20 sessions with another teacher. It was an easy decision to make a change." -- Virginia B., Parent

About

After a long and successful career as an opera and concert soloist and vocal pedagogue, I am back in New York and am accepting serious students of all ages in my vocal studio in southern Westchester. I had a very demanding schedule with over 25 major operatic roles and singing 80 performances a season, first as a lyric-coloratura soprano and later switched to young dramatic, lirico-spinto repertoire. I could fully rely on a very solid vocal technique taught to me by the wonderful tenor Felix Knight with whom I worked from a very young age into maturity, and although I had a rigorous schedule, my voice remained healthy. I also worked with Luigi Ricci on my Italian repertoire in Rome, and wonderful conductors who coached me musically. I want to pass on this Italian, "bel-canto technique" to my students. I am committed to helping my students find their "unique" sound, one that is free, natural sounding and strong. Having lived and worked all over Europe, I am fluent in German, Italian and French, as well in the musical style needed for art song, oratorio and opera. I also teach the belt technique for musical theater, which Felix Knight made me familiar with over the years of my work with him. I am a member of NATS (National Assoc. for the Teaching of Singing) and in the summer months, I welcome students to participate in masterclasses in Tuscany, Italy. For more information, please visit my website and click Casentino Voice or look for the Facebook Page for Casentino Voice. Below are her clients' reviews: "Ms. Girard is a great teacher for the professional singer. She is creative and intuitive, and has the skill to help you immediately improve upon that which you already have. I am very excited that I have found her." "Valerie knows what to fix and what to leave alone". "Valerie can teach you how to sing without pressure while still producing a strong sound". "A good teacher, must be able to help you significantly in the first lesson. Valerie is one of those". "Sometimes you feel that every note has its own problem, Valerie knows them all and how to get rid of them" "Since I've been studying with Valerie, my voice has gotten richer and more even. Singing feels a lot easier now" "If you really want to learn how to sing, Valerie can teach you, It's that simple." "I've studied with so many teachers, Valerie is the first one to focus on my problems, solve them and make me feel good about my strengths at the same time." "So many voice teachers just let you stand out in the rain and just talk about themselves, Valerie doesn't, she focuses on you and makes sure you learn more about your own voice and how to use it."

About

I teach vocal production and technique for all voices; I've worked with many singers of varying genres, but I usually work with opera singers. The first consultation is free. I am a strong believer in setting goals and achieving them. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Take your singing to a whole new level. I will not teach phrasing and musicality. The way I see it, my job is to make you produce sound, the composers wrote the music, leave them to be the musical ones. Musicality for the singer is to stay in tempo, on pitch and follow the score, not to change the score to their liking. My job is to get you to create the kind of tensionless resonance that will deliver the true intention of the music. Tension in the body creates tension in the voice. Perhaps you feel that you know your vocal limits, try a free lesson and you will discover a whole other level which your voice is capable of.

About

There is always a healthy way to sing. I'm a huge believer that everyone can sing, and that anyone can learn how to sing better, how to listen and feel their voice, and how to improve own vocal abilities, while working on their own style. I tend to bring my students to analyze what they are doing, to understand and control it, along with their artistic taste. Healthy singing techniques don't have style boundaries and apply to singing in general. You probably heard other voice teachers imply that voice training is a very slow and deliberate process. During the lesson, we exercise and acquaint the student with his/her instrument. Later, we will apply the gained technical knowledge to the song you chose to work on.

About

If you are currently singing and want to go to the next level, I have the tools and the experience to help you. I am an active professional singer but I really enjoy helping others with the many things I have learned during my career. There are no secrets, magic pills, or even magic teachers! It is a 50-50 working relationship between the student and the teacher, and both must be dedicated and determined to improve. I am dedicated to the art of singing, and will always give you honest feedback, which is what you need to grow. See below for a brief statement about myself and my teaching, and thank you for your time. Voice teacher Sean F. has been teaching voice students for 10 years, and 6 years in New York City. Known as an exciting and dynamic performer and teacher, he inspires his students with a creative and custom-made lesson plan to fit each student. More importantly than that, Sean is a current and active professional singer who has sung all musical styles throughout the US and on three continents! Therefore his students receive all of the benefits of having an active working singer as their mentor. Whether you're a beginner, a high school or a college student, or just want to learn to sing a little better for your personal enjoyment, try a lesson, I can help you improve. Most recent studio news: after taking just 2 lessons with Sean, a young man was accepted into the prestigious La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts! His mother said "we owe it all to your teaching!" Other students have gone on to professional singing in NYC and elsewhere, in churches, professional choruses, and weddings. Lesson Details I have been a professional singer for 15 years, and I have sung a variety of styles from classical, to pop, to Broadway. My specialty and career is classical, but I feel comfortable helping in the other styles I mentioned also. I share all the useful tips and techniques I've learned from my own experiences with my students. I also use a series of exercises and invent others to best suit each student. I believe that There isn't just ONE way to teach everybody, because each person is unique, both physically and emotionally. I can personally guarantee that if you are serious about learning to sing better and devote your attention to this art, that positive results and improvement will be yours! Thank you for your interest and best of luck to you in your singing, NewYorkVoiceTeacher

I am looking to do this for fun. I don't have any professional goals at all that pertain to this. I used to sing as a kid but gave it up as I grew older and now sometimes I FEEL like singing but I just don't have the confidence to. Except drunk and at karaoke when no one is paying attention.
