I am a scientist who loves singing. I found Bulent Guneralp three years ago after moving to Boston for my PhD and searching for singing teachers online. His website detailing his experience and all the positive reviews made me consider him, and I am really happy that I did so. Mr. Guneralp is a unique teacher and human being. He is multi-talented yet very down-to-earth, he is very encouraging yet expects the best from you, constantly improves himself and his teaching methods, and is overall fun to work with. He doesn't only teach but also performs, so he knows what it is like to perform live and the expectations of stage life. I first started taking voice lessons 10 years ago, continued on and off, but did not perform in public until studying with Mr. Guneralp, who helped me overcome my stage fright and sing solo in a concert for the first time in 2016! His scientific teaching method which also uses certain visualizations helped me better understand and use my body as a vocal instrument. I believe not only my technical progress but my overall development as a singer gave me the confidence to sing for the first time in public. We have been working on arias and art songs in Italian, German, French, English and Turkish! My diction in these different languages has improved. I also learned a great deal of sight-singing, music theory and ear-training, areas in which I was not educated in the past. Recently I moved to Maryland, yet continue taking lessons from him remotely via Skype / FaceTime. I strongly recommend Mr. Guneralp to anyone, professional or amateur, interested in developing their vocal and musical skills.
Oliver is so professionalism and my son likes his lesson.
Very flexible and understanding. Unfortunately, I had outside commitments that left my schedule a bit crazy and unpredictable, and Jessica always accommodate me ... However, I have yet to squeeze in a lesson, but I would highly recommend Jessica on professionalism alone, she's super sweet, excited about people's goals, and was willing to take on my idea for voice lessons, even though they were a little different (for public speaking).
At the age of 54 I decided to take up piano after many years of toying with the idea. I had no music bankground and didn't know a staccatto from a fortissimo. My daughter had been taking voice lessons from Lenae and when she had an opening I decided the time had come. I am thrilled that I did. I love playing piano and, although I don't have any particular talent for it, I am very pleased by how far I have come in two years. Lenae has been the perfect teacher. Lessons are relaxed and without pressure, and she moves at a pace that makes sense for me. She is ALWAYS pleasant and supportive.
John is very knowledgeable about music and made me feel comfortable starting voice lessons for the first time. Highly recommended.
Emily is a creative and skilled teacher that is able to transform singing lessons into a fun experience. Very good at providing individually tailored lessons, she does not burden students with unnecessary structure. Emily connects well with male and female students across all age groups. I can recommend Emily to everyone that is interested in improving/perfecting his/her singing skills.
Christie is nothing short of amazing. She is so professional and knowledgeable, and she's so understanding when it comes to life circumstances that may come up. I'm 25 years old and I've never formally taken a voice lesson before my lessons with Christie. I finally decided to give my talent some attention and I'm so glad I found Christie. She knows I'm an adult with a working life and a family, and she is very accommodating which is exactly what I was looking for. Having not received any music training in my life, Christie patiently went over all the basics with me and started teaching me from point zero.
Joyce is a wonderful piano and voice teacher. My 7 year old daughter loves going each week to her lesson. She really is patient and kind. So happy we found her!
I am very happy to make a recommendation of Stanley Wilson as a voice teacher. My daughter has been taking weekly lessons with Stanley for over 3 years. Stanley has been an excellent teacher to her. She started from 7th grade when she really loved singing but was too shy to sing. But with coaching, and many practices, rehearsals and recitals, she developed her voice and strong confidence within one semester. Now she sings often, which is what she loves to do and I love to hear. As Stanley's student, she participates in events of A Worcester Schubertiad, a chamber music organization that Stanley leads, which is great for her. I too have been taking lessons with Stanley for over a year. Class time is distributed between techniques and practicing an actual piece. I am learning many techniques that help me improving and enjoying my singing. I like to think that my voice has developed substantially over the year. Stanley's students range from professional singers, to choir members, to recreational singers like myself, from middle school to retirement. While he is an accomplished vocal artist in classical singing and opera, he helps develop vocal techniques for students in diverse singing genres. Because Stanley is flexible in his approach, a new student should feel comfortable starting with him. What should also help is that Stanley is punctual and very professional in managing his teaching schedule. As importantly, his studio is located in an excellent location in Worcester where parking is never an issue. I have benefitted from and enjoyed my learning experience, and I highly recommend Stanley as a vocal teacher.
Tom and I have known each other for years. Almost two decades actually! We performed together with the NEC production of Midsummer Night's Dream. Tom as Oberon and I as the changeling boy. I believe I was around eight years old. I am now twenty-eight. Later in my growing childhood career I began taking voice lessons with Tom at his home in Arlington, learning all of the intricate details of becoming a professional in musical theatre and opera from vocal range and strength to stage personality. Tom coached me to become the third spirit in Mozart's, The Magic Flute, performed by Boston Lyric Opera. This was my first major role with a professional company. I continued to work and study under Tom for many years, and I continued to perform with well known companies and stars throughout this time. He is a true friend and great teacher who helped me live up to my potential.
I'm a new singer and the first lesson was really helpful and at the same time not stressful. Paulo was engaging and made it very comfortable. I'm looking forward continuing and learning how to get the most out of my voice.
I have been working with Gabe for the last three years. I started in college after never having taken voice lessons before. Gabe is always energetic and passionate in our lessons. You can tell he truly loves music and how it can help people express themselves. As a more reserved person it can be difficult to put emotion into the music, but Gabe always finds a way to not only instruct technique but to help you tap into the emotion of the piece. You obviously can't teach someone how to "feel" but Gabe is great at spurring you on to find the extra bit you may be holding back. He also finds a way to mix in some music theory and sight reading tips into the lessons. On top of that he's extremely flexible with his scheduling and offers very reasonable prices.
I had my first lesson with Barbara this week, and it was better than I could have imagined! I've played flute for many years, but I've always wanted to develop my voice. I've never taken vocal lessons, so I was nervous about singing in front of a stranger. Barbara made the whole experience fun and informative. She's patient and has an amazing ear for detecting which notes are difficult or slightly off for me. I learned a lot about myself and my abilities in just one session. I'm so happy I came across Barbara's services and am excited to continue developing my voice.
She is the best! I am a cardiologist at Boston and our lessons during my lunch breaks are my sessions of meditation. The questionnaire (5 questions) that she gave me after our first meeting was brilliant. She understands me perfectly and she creates the greatest repertoire for me. After 6 months, I can say that we worked on anatomy, breathing techniques, singing quality, expanding my range, learning my voice and discovering my true voice with my favorite songs. Her professionalism put music to another level for me. I am having small gigs and enjoying being on stage!
My daughter has been taking voice lessons and absolutely loves going. She's only seven years old and has already learned so much and it's taught in a manner that allows her to totally understand and put all techniques into practice. Her teacher gives her full attention at each lesson and makes sure that the time you've paid for is used for you. I highly recommend them!
Hannah is a fabulous teacher! I’m enjoying taking classes with her. She is kind and welcoming and makes singing feel fun. I am understanding my voice a lot better each week.

As a classically trained soprano, I teach voice lessons to children and young adults who are looking to expand their vocal range and overall strengthen their instrument in a healthy way. In addition to private lessons, I have taught freshman girls choir at my local high school, Mini Magic Musical class at the Emilson YMCA, and am currently the drama specialist for the YMCA camp. I also teach acting, beginner's piano, and music theory.
