Rob was just the life coach that I needed at this season of my life. He has a real heart for people and the wisdom to know when to listen and when to share ideas. He had a wealth of great insights and some very helpful book suggestions too. I highly recommend Rob to anyone seeking for focus, inspiration, processing issues at home or at work, or setting a new direction in life.

I have been working with Drew Kiel for 6 months. He's helped me achieve both nutrition & fitness goals. When I began with Drew I had shoulder pain & some restrictions with my workout. He gave me exercises to work through the problem & I'm pain free now! I highly recommend working with Drew no matter what your age or fitness goals are! He brings personal experience as a strength & conditioning coach as well as knowledge as a physical therapist.

There are many reasons to hire Bill & iCoachLife for your career/life coaching needs, but out of those many reasons, the most important is Bill's genuine authenticity. This business is not a side gig for Bill, it's his primary focus and I've rarely met someone with his energy and positive outlook on life and the lives of his clients. No matter what state of mind you are in when you walk into a session w/ Bill, you'll leave there feeling empowered to tackle the many life challenges that are coming at you each day. Sometimes in life, we need someone outside of our immediate sphere of family, friends and colleagues to remind us how blessed we really are, and that each day is an OPPORTUNITY to create a better life, while being grateful for what we have already. Whatever it is that you are looking for in a life/career coach, consider Bill a catalyst to that discovery journey. Starting from the first session, he's 100% in your corner and truly wants to see you be successful.

Working with Kasey Cardin has been a great experience. She has helped me to see my resistance toward the goals I desired to pursue. Kacey helped me discover what actions I needed to take and supported me toward those achievements. I have gained a greater sense of self and confidence working with Kacey. I am currently pursuing an entrepreneural career as a coach. I have found it to be fulfilling to help others discover their superpowers. Career counseling: overall and regarding a specific opportunity. The resume feedback and suggestions were excellent. It was so helpful to have someone ask the important questions and help me see gaps. I know my job and industry so well that I forget what details might require a little more description for review outside my current place of employment. Regarding a specific opportunity- the discussion was really helpful. To be given the chance to talk it through with someone who is solely invested in helping me make a good decision (my husband struggled to let go of what it would mean to move and get a new job himself). Talking through what the position offered and where it could take me next was time really well spent. Additionally talking through what kind of compensation I wanted/needed was enlightening and great practice for the conversation with the recruiter. I would absolutely reach out again. This was a great experience.

Darren is an inspiration for fitness and well-being. He's helped guide me and inspire me to keep going. Diet and exercise is hard! But when you've got someone like Darren to encourage you, it makes it worth it. I would highly reccommend Darren to anyone looking for a fitness coach or any kind of health consulting. Not only is he a great guy, but his energy inspires you as well. Thanks Darren!

Jen Patten was the most effective healer/coach that I have worked with in over 30 years. I trusted her knowledge, insight and practices without hesitation and thus we were able to work together in a non-hierarchical and non-resistant manner. I was not able to make the healthy and positive shifts with the other "qualified" therapists, who were all competent but ineffective. I continue to work with Jen and I cannot recommend her enough. I believe that every moment in life has something to teach us, if we are willing to look at them with the right perspective. I believe that those perspectives may be the key to unlocking the potential that each of us have hidden within ourselves. I make it my goal in every interaction to create a space that enables my clients to see themselves honestly and without judgement. I enjoy working with individual adults as they learn to conquer their anxieties, abide with grief, beat back depression, manage physical pain, and discover their purpose in life. In addition to being a counselor, I am certified to practice hypnotherapy. I'm passionate about coaching his clients through developing their own meditation practices, because I believes that everyone needs a regular exercise for getting the most out of their mind.

As a nationally registered occupational therapist, with 24 years of experience in supporting groups and individuals set and obtain their goals, I am now specializing in health coaching and wellness. I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole. My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding. Together we'll work to reach your health goals in areas, such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you'll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

      • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
      • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
      • Defining your career goals
      • Creating a plan for job searching
      • Improving networking strategies and skills
      • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
      • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
      • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

      Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

      • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
      • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
      • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
      • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
      • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
      • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
      • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

      What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
