I spoke with John today by phone to set up guitar lessons as a birthday present for my husband. He was easy to talk to and flexible as far as setting up lesson times. I'm excited to have found his help!
Nathan is a great teacher who has really expanded my knowledge is music, I have learned so much! I went from just knowing four chords on guitar to learning how to freestyle. Nathan is a great teacher! You will not regret learning from him. :)
Matt has been giving guitar lessons to our daughter for about two years. She has learned an incredible amount. He is able to judge just how much to push her so that she continues to learn but also really enjoys her lessons and playing. He has taught her a lot of music theory along the way. We like him so much that we're continuing her lessons via Skype even though Matt has moved away from our area. He's a great teacher and we absolutely recommend him.
My son has been taking guitar lessons at Cedarstone for two years and we are very pleased with his progress. Kevin always has a way to make music fun, fullfilling, and engaging to transform the student into an accomplished musician. The collective team of instructors at Cedarstone, brings a broad set of musical knowledge and teaching skills that is an absolute treasure. I highly recommend Cedarstone for all your music education endeavors.
Our daughter's experience with Matt Cummings was little short of transformative for her, and, truth be told for us as her parents, as well. Matt worked with our daughter throughout her high school career, mentoring 3 different bands she fronted as lead singer, but he also helped her record single songs and an EP, introduced her to the studio, to other musicians and the broader world of music, always providing. Matt was always able to negotiate the sometimes fine line between teacher/mentor and friend/confidante. He served as therapist and counselor as often as not and whenever needed. Matt truly understood and conveyed to his kids the delicate balance of fun and joy with hard work and discipline, all resulting in growth, both musically and personally. He is serious about his craft and expects his students to be as well; but experiences with Matt never appeared mundane or routine. He unlocked the power and joy in making music together. Matt is an incredibly talented musician in his own right. He sings with a powerful, emotive, raw voice and is nothing short of a virtuoso on the guitar moving fluidly and seamlessly across the musical spectrum (R&B, funk, rock, pop and jazz.) We've paid to see/hear him perform and would do so again. That said his immense personal talent does not get in the way with students, rather it serves as a tool in both teaching and exemplifying what they can aspire to. Matt is truly facile in every element and ingredient of the contemporary musical scene and has a depth of experience and sage wisdom that belies his relative youth. I've watched him personally work with kids from 10 to 18, and have no doubt he bring the same talents and industry to students older and younger. He treats clients with warmth, respect and good humor; but can be a task master as and if needed. I recommend him heartily and without reservation. You are putting your child(ren) in the best of hands when you allow them to work and flourish with him. Our daughter left high school a year early and matriculated to Berklee College of Music, Matt's own alma mater; all this in no small measure due to his tutelage, devotion, knowledge and friendship. I am hard-pressed to come up with a negative in working with Matt these last few years. He proved nothing less than a treasure musically and beyond.
I was excited about learning to play guitar, but how to begin was the problem. First, Denny called; his personality was warm and calming. He was very confident in his abilities, stated as a matter of fact, but does not major on that; he stayed focused on me, as a beginner, and how he could best serve my needs. From meeting me at the music store and providing guidance with my first guitar purchase through my first lesson, Denny provided gentle guidance and helped build my confidence. After the first lesson, I was able to play chords clearly and even had others to learn during my independent practice. I am very grateful I chose Denny as the professional to begin my new journey with. If you seriously want to learn how to play and enjoy your guitar experience, you owe it to yourself to get in contact with Denny.
I was so lucky to have found Jimmy to teach my daughter guitar. He is talented, knowledgeable, patient and kind. She blossomed under his tutelage!
I've been taking guitar lessons with Dan for a couple months now. I have been played piano since I can remember, and always wanted to learn how to play guitar, but never got around to it. I can say I'm definitely getting more comfortable and confident with it after a few lessons. I like that he doesn't just teach you basic chords, but also really gets into finger picking and intricate exercises as well. On top of being a great teacher, he's such a friendly and inspiring human being. I would highly recommend guitar lessons with him!
My 17 year old daughter Shannon has been taking guitar lessons from Cathy for 2 years now. We feel so honored to be able to learn from her. She is our resident guitar "Goddess". Her extensive career as an accomplished, musician and successful songwriter here in Nashville along with her warm engaging style has cemented her as our absolute favorite ever!! We just love her! Absulotely A++++!!
Michael Chirri was my guitar teacher when I first started to play over 2 decades ago. I still benefit to this day from the scales & techniques he taught. What sets Michael apart from other guitarists, besides playing at a Masters level, is his enthusiasm for teaching, his encouragement, and the diversity of styles that he can play. My endorsement is gladly given, but not needed. The quality speaks for itself. -Dan Minard
My son has been taking guitar lessons with Khris Miller now for over a year. We have been very happy with Khris as a teacher. He makes learning fun which keeps our son interested. He encourages the kids to create their own music. Half the children at recital played their own compositions which I thought was wonderful. He's an accomplished guitarist; he's not only a good musician, but he's truly interested in teaching. I think he's a great teacher for kids!
Tara Tinsley is extremely talented! She also has the upmost patience while teaching. I am a beginner at the guitar, and if there was a word to describe "less a than beginner," that would be me. She went at my own pace because obviously I am very slow to switch between chords. I have taken a couple lessons so far and as long as I practice what she teaches at home I know I will be able to play songs in no time. I would recommend her to anybody for guitar lessons. Her office is in a great, historic building in downtown Tacoma. It is a professional office building with free street parking close by (which is almost impossible to find downtown). The lobby has seating for students and/or parents to wait. For parents that don't want to wait inside, there is a coffee and wine bar a block away! If anyone is skeptical she has music on YouTube and Spotify. Check it out and I know you will be convinced to learn from her!
Bill has to be one of the brightest and most talented guitar players I've had the pleasure of learning from. Not only can he play multiple styles with multiple instruments, his knowledge of music history, music theory and sight reading is incredible. Bill makes a great teacher because he's passionate about what he's teaching and wants to see you succeed. I definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn from the best!
I offer vocal and guitar lessons for beginners and intermediate-level students. I'm a Berklee College of Music alumni. Composition and arranging lessons are available as well.
Guitar is my passion; teaching is my joy. I am a college student here in Nashville, and have had a love of music since the day I was born. I come from a very musically talented family, from which came the name "JamesGang". I sing, play piano, and write music, but most of all, I play the guitar. I am experienced in all forms of music reading: tablature, sheet music, and the Nashville number system. I am also very experienced in music theory. My guitar abilities include blues, rock, folk, country, Spanish guitar, flamenco, classical, and playing by ear. I am interested in teaching the guitar to all ages, and I am great with kids, as I have a brother whom I started teaching when he was 7. My teaching style is extremely flexible to the goals and requests of my students, and my prices are very low. I am willing to come to any location you request or to have the lessons done on my college campus. I am greatly honored to teach my passion to anyone who desires to learn, and I look forward to teaching you or your children the art of the acoustic guitar. Have a blessed day!
I teach acoustic, classical, electric guitar and voice lessons. I can also teach how to write catchy songs and lyrics.
I give banjo and guitar lessons. I also do repairs on the instruments as well. I have over 27 years of experience.
We offer, in conjunction with an extensive guitar DVD instructional library, customized guitar lessons that answer all your questions designed specifically for you. All ages and levels are welcome, from beginner to the most advanced.
I have a unique way of teaching guitar, blending traditional guitar theory and the number system. You are going to see results quickly and complete your first lesson with a better understanding of the guitar. Many people have told me, "I tried and just don't have it!" The good news is... it's the same for everyone. Everyone suffers the initial two to four weeks of difficulty in training their hands to play the guitar. You just have to work through the rough beginning stages. The guitar players you admire struggled at some point. But, were too stubborn to give up. I charge $20 for a one-hour lesson.
