Terry is an excellent coach. I have been working out with him at 5 am for about a year now. He is encouraging and cares about your success. If I don't show up for a few days, Terry will text to ask where I've been. He has also texted me in the morning to ask if I'm coming. I am NOT a morning person in the least, but his class is worth it. From circuits to sprints, burpees to squats, abs to stretching- Terry covers it all for a true, total body workout. I highly recommend Terry if you want a healthier, stronger life.
During my quest to find the best trainer out there for my needs, I found Alex Hernandez. I knew from my research that the qualities I was looking for in a trainer included experience, education, personality, the ability to communicate well and professionalism. I met with/spoke to several trainers through Thumbtack and outside of Thumbtack that unfortunately were lacking one or more of these qualities until I met with Alex who, as it turned out, had all the qualities I was looking for in a trainer. It also didn’t hurt that he offered a couple of free sessions. (I know this is a rather wordy review but if you are like me and prefer to do your due diligence before hiring a trainer, I think it’s worth the read.) Experience: Yes, having years of experience is great, which Alex has but what I most valued about Alex’s experience is that he had been through the same struggle of losing weight and figuring out how to establish and maintain a healthier lifestyle as I am going through now. Because of this, I felt Alex had a unique perspective as a trainer and would be able to better understand my struggle with losing weight and be better equipped to assist me through that struggle. Experience was also very important to me as I was coming to the table with several injuries that any trainer I selected would have to have the know-how on how to handle those injuries during training while still allowing me to make regular progress. After a couple of complimentary sessions with Alex, there was no doubt he had the necessary experience to help me. Education: In addition to having over a decade of experience in personal training, Alex also had the appropriate credentials. One of these credentials was particularly important to me, his NASM certification as a Weight Loss Specialist. (FYI - You can check a trainer’s credentials on the NASM website.) Beyond his certification education, Alex also educated himself on me. Alex took the time to ask me questions and learn about me, what I wanted to accomplish with training, what injuries or medical issues I had, what concerns I had, what my day-to-day life was like and what my nutrition looked like. For me, this meant Alex was asking all the right questions to educate himself on how best to help me. Personality: If you’re looking for a trainer who will yell at you like a drill sergeant, then Alex isn’t the trainer for you. If you’re looking for a trainer to handle you with kid gloves and baby you, then again, Alex isn’t the trainer for you. If you are looking for a happy medium between the two with a few jokes and quotes of encouragement thrown in, then Alex is for you. Alex is encouraging yet pushes you beyond your limits just enough every time so every session always contains progress. When I first started working with Alex, there was a particular exercise that he had to modify in order for me to complete. Recently, I was able to complete this exercise, multiple reps, without modification and he was more excited about it then I was. Who wouldn’t want a trainer like that, someone who is excited for you and your progress. Communication: Alex has been great about communicating with me since day one. I tend to have a lot of questions and Alex has always been very good about answering those questions for me whether during our training sessions or via text (in a timely manner). Unlike some trainers, he does not brush off your questions. Alex will regularly check on me after a session to make sure none of my injuries were exacerbated due to the session. It was important to find someone I could communicate well with because I knew my injuries would be a constant issue and I needed to be comfortable enough talking with my trainer and expressing when I felt the pain from a pre-existing injury was too much and/or when I felt I was just incapable of doing an exercise due to my injuries without feeling I was being judged by my trainer. I have found Alex to be very easy to communicate with. Professionalism: The last quality on my list was professionalism. I have had trainers who were physically inappropriate with me, I have had trainers who would talk badly about their other clients either in front of me to another person or directly to me, I’ve had trainers that would spend majority of my session texting/playing on their phone and paying no attention to me at all. I have never had any of these issues with Alex. During our training sessions, he has always conducted himself in a professional manner making sure the focus is always on me and my training. I honestly believe Alex is worth every penny as a trainer. I’m very happy I found him, that I have had the opportunity to work with him and that I now know what it is like to work with a real trainer. **As of this review, I have worked with Alex for 8 weeks. **I have lost inches and pounds and have gained muscle and strength. **Several aches and pains I had prior to my training with Alex has dissipated. (I used to get terrible ankle and shin pain walking to and from work every day which has subsided substantially since training with Alex.)
I've been training with Jerell for almost 2 months now. In the first month I saw awesome results and lost 7 pounds. Jerell is very encouraging and a knowledgeable trainer. He motivates me to push my limits at every session and he focuses on the areas I desire to improve the most. There is lots of variety in each session and I never get bored with the workouts. Overall he's an excellent trainer.
Training with Ricky increased my overall fitness level and helped to incorporate regular fitness as a "habit" into my schedule. During our training course I lost approximately 30 pounds from training 3 times per week consistently. For the first time in my life I saw the benefits of strength training as well as cardio workouts. I've always been aware of healthy eating and fitness (ie. cardio), however, strength training with Ricky has giving me the confidence and the skills to go to the gym to and do my routine knowing I am benefiting instead of spinning my wheels. I've been weight training for 25 years and have a pretty good understating of fitness & nutrition. After my first session with Will, I knew immediately that I was working with a guy that had a very high fitness & nutrition IQ. Will takes an inside out approach, the right approach, to your body, and although the weights and reps seem at first a bit entry level, you will leave each session knowing that you just got worked out in a way you never have. I can honestly say that I would very highly recommend Will to anyone that is serious about a real long lasting transformation. Robert is amazing! I've only been training with him for about 10 days but I already see major changes in my body. Jonathan was by far the most involved trainer I've had to date. I've gone through 4 trainers in my life, none of which before Jonathan was personally invested in me sticking to the program and checking in on my progress. I opted to choose from his lowest cost training program. Even though I only saw him 5 times in one month, he made sure to be available to answer all of my MANY questions about the program and it's constantly changing challenges. One thing I truly enjoyed about training with Johnathan was his emphasis on safety and form. One detail I enjoyed about training with Jonathan the most was his concentration to you in your work out. He was never distracted by his phone or other things during my work out. He truly made personal training PERSONAL. That which is something that is lost with other trainers who get distracted easily or seem detached during your work out.
I have just started working out with Tony and I have to say it has been a very rigorous and fast-paced training so far! I really enjoy the fact that Tony is knowledgable, and is a skilled trainer. I also know I needed someone who was going to motivate and push me and Tony is doing that! For him it is about the substance of the training sessions meaning he is not just interested in running throught the session just for the sake of doing so.. he really takes his time to ensure you have the correct form, and are correctly completing all of your sets. I had not worked out in awhile, but now that I am again, I believe I made the right choice in choosing Tony as my trainer and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to get into shape and live a healthier lifestyle!
Esteban is an amazing trainer!! I remember training with him back in San Antonio, Tx and boy did I get some gains!!! I used to be extremely skinny. I started training with a weight of 107. After a year and a half of training with Esteban, my weight was 123. I grew a lot of muscle with increasing weight every week. We set goals and we accomplished them. By far, legs were always my favorite to train and Esteban knows how to work that area extremely well. Not only is he proficient in weight training, but also his genuine care for getting his clients to their goal. He is someone you can truly feel comfortable training with. He is always right there with you sometimes doing the exercises wth you for encouragement! All in all, I miss training with Esteban. Was one of the only trainers to ever increase my muscle mass. Train with Esteban, he will exceed your expectations!

Chris has been amazing and very knowledgeable when it comes to fitness. His approach to fitness as quality of life has been eye-opening to me. His initial consultation structure is very well-done and he is open to guiding you as to what is achievable and what is not. As to his style of training, Chris is a very approachable and kind (at times hilarious) person. He is not super hardcore in your face; he is really there to motivate you in a sustainable way. He truly cares about his clients and he has shown great respect for me and my family. I also love how he has a humorous side to him. He is without a doubt one of the best coaches/trainers I have had and I recommend him a thousand times over. I have been working out with him for over two months and have not looked back.
