Marisa was much more than a wedding makeup vender. She felt like a close friend who was an active part of the day. She was a delight to work with and I hope to work with her again and again. If you're looking for someone who listens but also brings a creative viewpoint, hire Marisa. You won't regret it.

Nicole did my makeup for my friends wedding and I must say I got soooo many compliments. Maybe even more than the bride! She listened to what i wanted but more importantly what I didn't want. I felt like a glamorous version of myself and my makeup lasted all night! I definitely recommend her for your event!

Rick was absolutely perfect. From the moment he arrived at the venue. He took charge and made sure everything was prepped before the wedding. He kept an eye out for a lurking storm and was a great M.C. Highly recommend, 6 out of 5 stars.

DJ enCore in my opinion is one of the best DJ’s in the business. He responds quickly, very punctual and highly professional. Now let’s talk about his skills. DJ enCore had the crowd pumped up all night with his music selection. He also had two hip hop groups performing while he was mixing and the crowd went crazy. Whenever I need a Dj I’m calling DJ enCore. Thank you for everything last night.

Mary was great to work with. 1) She always responded to emails and phone calls quickly. 2) She was flexible with our schedule for the bridal portraits (my daughter lives out of town) and got them back quickly so we could have a print to display at the wedding. She had no problem with the wedding being at our church and the reception at another location. 3) I LOVE her pictures. One thing that impressed me on her web-page was the indoor shots - many photographers have lots of outdoor shots but few indoor ones. The wedding and reception were both inside (it was July!) and she did a great job. She was very discreet and managed to capture the beauty, sacredness, and joy of the day. Somehow she managed to convince my daughter and her husband to step outside for some quick (and wonderful) shots and then continued the magic indoors. 4) Compared to many other photographers, she has very reasonable rates. 5) She truly loves her job and her joy bubbles out to everyone around - it was more like she was an old friend rather than "just" a photographer. I will definitely contact Mary for other occasions!

We had DJ PtchBlaq for our wedding and our experience was fantastic! From the very beginning, he was quick to respond and attentive to our needs. He was prepared with a lot of questions in order to ensure that our wedding went smoothly and just how we wanted it. We let him know what kind of music we wanted played and he took it from there... the party was a complete hit! People were dancing all night long. I had several guests comment on how good the music was. I would highly recommend DJ PtchBlaq!

Very professional. He was able to provide the kind of ceremony we wanted impartially, despite any religious differences we may have had. We asked for a non-religious ceremony, and regardless of his religious views, he did not judge us nor pushed us to do anything we had not already planned. We felt very comfortable with him and the ceremony was perfect! It was very much an honor to have him as a part of our wedding day.

Where do I even begin? I can't say enough about Jessika. She saved my wedding (more about that later). When I was planning my wedding, I was back and forth on whether I wanted to get my makeup professionally done or not. I've always been pretty good at doing my own make-up, so I wasn't sure if it was necessary. Who was I kidding?? Getting your makeup done professionally, especially by Jessika, is such a wonderful experience and so worth every penny! I went for the more dramatic look, Jessika made me look like a movie star. I've never felt so pretty. Let me tell you, Jessika has some magic makeup, the makeup she uses last all day! She applied my makeup at 11AM, I walked down the isle (in the rain) at 2PM in the middle of June and through all day wedding festivities it still looked like I had a fresh face of makeup late that night. Two of my bridesmaids got their makeup done and there's too lasted all day. Not only is Jessika an amazing makeup artist, she is so sweet and talented in so many other areas. Jessika saved my wedding!!! As we were walking out the door to go to the chapel, my bouquet fell apart. My bouquet looked so bad that there was no way I could use it... Jessika kept me calm and worked a miracle! She put together a beautiful arrangement by using what we could out of my bouquet and pulling some flowers from a few center pieces! How amazing is that? I highly recommend Jessika!

Daniel was our wedding DJ on March 31, 2018. We found him pretty last minute after deciding not to go with our original plan, and he pulled everything together and executed it perfectly. Daniel had the dance floor full all night and kept the party going. He also provided GoPro footage of the dance floor for the entire night which will be fun to watch in the future. Would 100% recommend him for any wedding.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
