Claire has had a great improvement in her algebra course as a freshman with Ms. Vecera. She is punctual, understanding, calm and to the point with her skills. It took Claire a good 4 lessons to know that we were with the right person. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a true up to date math tutor.

I attended classes at Southwest Institute of technology where Mr. Cochrane is a teacher and tutor. He explains each piece of a process in detail. He is also very good at explaining why a process is done. When it came to me not understanding a problem or wanting to touch up my grade, he offered excellent after class tutoring. My grades significantly improved when I attended his tutoring session. He is an Outstanding Teacher and Tutor.

When my son started struggling in school last year in reading comprehension, I didn't know where to turn. From the moment I spoke with you on the phone I felt a sigh of relief; you calmed me down and let me know that my son was going to be just fine. I love that the parents are involved in the sessions because we need to know how to help our child at home. My son has improved tremendously in his reading comprehension skills! And his confidence level is so much better than before and so is mine as a parent. You have made me realize that tutoring is a process that begins with building a strong foundation. J. enjoys his time with you. You've been a blessing to our family! — Stephanie R.

I am a graduate of the St. Mary's University. I received my Master's in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in international business and minor in accounting and finance. Throughout my experiences, I had the great opportunity to travel the world and tutor as well as coach children and teens from a variety of settings. I also had the opportunity to work with and take leadership roles in community-organized programs and events, which included working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Camp Good Days, Autism Awareness campaigns, and children with special needs programs. I have experience in tutoring a broad range of subjects, but I am most passionate with business-concentrated subjects, math, public speaking, and writing. My philosophy and tutoring style is individually based for each student because everyone has different triggers for what makes learning fun, and I will find the best way to make learning fun, progressive, and efficient. I am a firm believer in always emphasizing continuing education in life as well as maintaining strong persistence in accomplishing each of our dreams. It is my mission to positively make a difference and change lives within the community around me. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, yoga, running, going to the park, reading a good book, and to never stop learning.

I have received both a bachelors and a masters in mathematics and applied mathematics respectively. What I most enjoy is still being learn different things. Sometimes you discover new patterns you never saw before and its fascinating to find out why. Just being able to sit down and have the satisfaction of solving a problem you thought you couldn't do can be very rewarding. I've had more than my share of struggles in the subject, but I'm also aware of immense satisfaction at finally figuring something out.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.
