Jan was wonderful in every way! A true professional, she was easy to communicate with and helped everything go smoothly for our wedding ceremony. She sent us really helpful sample ceremony scripts, helped us to customize our wedding, met with us to go over details, ran the rehearsal, and made sure everything went well on the wedding day. Her help made our ceremony feel really special and she is exactly the kind of person you want with you on your wedding day. She is warm and professional and really calmed us down before the ceremony. We would happily recommend her to any couple looking for a wedding officiant.

Unfortunately, my wedding was cancelled and I was not able to use Linda's services. I can attest to her professionalism through communication, timely responsiveness, and overall kindness - especially when I had to cancel after she had made provisions in her schedule to accommodate my needs.

DJ Erock was very accommodating on short notice. We hired him for our wedding (10 days from our day) and he met with us that week to line out a plan. He was flexible, professional and organized in a short time frame. He asked that we provide a music list for the event and offered a few suggestions upon request. Easy to communicate with....even via text/email. He was early the day of the wedding to ensure setup was complete well before the ceremony as we used one venue for the ceremony/dinner reception/party. He interacted well with the crowd and even jumped in and taught a dance step or two for those who didn't know what to do. He has some nice lighting for the dance floor and can do some nice uplighting for a little extra. Overall, we were happy to have Eric as part of our special day.

Working with Dine was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for our wedding! Mark is friendly, kind, talented, and genuinely cares about his clients. He worked with us on price range and made sure the menu fit our needs AND wants. It was very easy to set the menu up with him and I felt like I could trust him from the beginning. After we did a tasting session and solidified everything for the wedding I knew everything would work out. At the wedding Mark's team was on point the entire time. Our friends and family could not stop talking about how wonderful the service and food was. If you're looking for a very reasonable caterer that is talented and committed to making your event unforgettable, Mark is the way to go!

My wedding food was a hit! Keif's dishes tasted like home-cooked meals rather than normal bland wedding food which is why I loved Keif! We had baked chicken, green beans, rice, and fish. The menu varied so everyone got a little bit of what they wanted. The price was also very cheap compared to most catering companies for 200 guests. Lastly, we paid for two extra servers/waiters and they were also not pricey compared to other catering companies. Please do not look past Keif's Catering when planning your wedding! He is the best caterer with the best attitude and best wedding food. Thank you Keif and great luck with all your future endeavors!!

I only had 10 months to plan my wedding. I had difficulty finding a photographer and videographer separately, so I turned to Thumbtack for assistance. Thankfully I ran across this husband & wife duo! Not only did they offer an affordable package (day of photography + videography), they also included our engagement shoot! On the day of, it seemed they were everywhere! And were flexible and accommodating after a cold front derailed our outside bridal pics. They needed little instruction and caught a number of candid shots I'm really grateful for. Roughy two weeks after the wedding we received the YouTube teaser and digital images. With the official wedding video coming the same week. Throughout the entire (stressful) experience, JTM was by far one of my favorite and easiest vendors to work with. Would definitely recommend!

I could not have imagined a better experience with a photographer for our wedding! Matt was so easy to communicate with, very up front about all of details of his services, and was where he said he would be when he said he would be there! My now husband and I wanted a different style for our wedding pictures than the breathy, airy, ethereal photos that pop up a lot on Pinterest and the like. We voiced the ideas to Matt and he went above and beyond. He captured a different feeling in the pictures from our moody portraits, to our goofy dance party candid shots. (not to mention mention that we had neon pink and blue lights all through our party venue and he got the lighting just right so that we don't looked like washed out aliens). The images were beautiful! He had samples to us in a few days, and had all of the finals to us within the promised timeline. I would recommend Matt to anyone looking for a very personable photographer with a unique style!! Thanks again Matt. You rock!

This was our second marriage to each other. Chris was a pleasure to work with not only for the wedding, but also for our premarital counseling. We felt very comfortable with him and he provided a safe place to strengthen our relationship and not fall into the same pitfalls that tore us apart from before. We walked away from our last session with so much more knowledge, strength, and the tools needed to maintain our second journey in life together. Opted In terms of the ceremony layout, he was very accommodating and flexible with any ideas we had. I liked that we were able to put our own touches on the wording, but I also liked the fact that he gave a wide variety of options for wording for the ceremony. His delivery allowed our loved ones to feel and know that this time is forever…. Thank you Brey & Co

This DJ was amazing. I had something special planned for my fiancée since we just got engaged. I was looking for a way to put all of our favorite songs together and dance to them in the middle of the party. This DJ took it to another level and was able to mix them all together right on the spot. Plus throw in a few to go with what I was trying to say. There was not a dry eye in the house and the music just complimented the mood for the small event. It was perfect. Come to find that I was actually able to book him for my wedding as well and canceled the other DJ that I had hired a while back. I’m so glad I chose this DJ instead. I was on the fence about hiring a DJ for my small get together, but this DJ made me feel like I knew him for about 20 years. It was great. Thank you again DJ. You are a master of your craft and see why you have been in business for 24 years. From my new family to yours, I will book you if we ever have an event again. Word of the wise to everyone looking for a DJ for their event, if you can book "The DJ of DJ's" do it. You will not be disappointed. You would regret it if you didn’t. Thanks again.

We hired D NICE to play music for our wedding ceremony and reception. The wedding was at our house, so he met with us several months in advance and had a great idea on how he would light the space. Everything went really well that evening, the blue accent lights looked amazing with our decor and he kept our guests dancing all night. Thanks for helping us have such a memorable evening!

My wedding was a BLAST! All our guest enjoyed dancing the night away, he arrived on time, his lighting was perfect! He took any random song request from our guest and had everyone enjoying their favorite songs. He is organized which was so helpful because I was very overwhelmed at the time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
