Dane was our wedding videographer. Overall, he was so personable, professional, easy to work with, and so flexible. We were so glad that we chose to have him as our videographer on such an important day. His style, work, and attention to detail is what drew us to him. Thank you so much, Dane, for being so awesome!

Ryan was very professional in shooting my wedding video. He travel a long distance to my city to shoot my bridals and ceremony capturing all the important moments of my wedding. Most videographers charge per hour but Ryan went the extra mile to shoot everything of my wedding. The result was a high quality video that made us look like TV stars. We love it. The only thing I can say I didn't like is that I expected the video to be longer in length.. it was too beautiful and we wanted to see more. I still love it though. Thanks Ryan!

My husband and I hired Nupetal to do our wedding videography and couldn't be happier with Levi and his staff. They were professional, showed up on time, captured our day beautifully and provided a great product. The two of us and our families all highly recommend Levi and Nupetal Wedding Videography & Photography.

Me and my wife had hired Shae from La Bellasole to first do our engagement photos. The day we planned ended up having some rough weather but she was still open and willing to work with it! They ended up turning out so amazing. She was super prompt on getting them done and we had our pictures back so quickly! We were so impressed and excited with the work that we also ended up hiring her for our wedding. And as we all know it's not cheap, but she was so open and willing to work with is and our situation to make it possible! Thanks for everything Shae! So amazing! Can't wait to get the wedding pictures!

Natasha was the videographer at my wedding. She did an awesome job! I love my wedding video! My wedding day came and went so fast and I am so glad I can watch this video and look back at all the things I may have forgotten. An actual video of your wedding day is so much better than just having pictures! Natasha is easy to work with, very professional, and fun to be around!

Spencer was the videographer for our wedding. It was his first one but I chose him to do it because I knew that he'd give it his best. He offered us a good deal and gave us a lot of memories for our money. I am happy with our video. It took a bit of "pulling teeth" to get him to do just want I wanted but I was being very picky. I felt like I was not only giving him tips to make my video better but also helping him for his videography future. Other than the fact that I felt like I was pulling teeth, I think he did a good job for his first video. He shot our first look, wedding day, and reception. He did same day edits so we could show that at the reception. He also put together our slide show of pictures of us growing up. Make sure both you let him know your expectations... write them down so there's no confusion because he will write down his expectations. I rated him as good because I think he gives you plenty for your money but I would rate him average at working with his customers. If you want an inexpensive but pretty good quality videographer, choose Spencer!

We hired Colby to be the videographer on our wedding day and it turned out great. His ability to capture the special moments of our day was just what we were looking for. I spent a lot of time researching to find someone who would not only provide great quality but also at a reasonable price and Angelos Media was one of the very few that met both. I would definitely recommend Colby. Thank you again!

Working with Stetson was an awesome experience. The song and music video he recorded for me and my band turned out amazing, and the response has been great! Definitely coming back, and will most likely be having him be the photographer/videographer for my wedding. 10/10!

My wife and I decided to have Justin be the videographer for our wedding and it was one of the best decisions that we made for our special day. He was professional, yet extremely fun which made all the festivities as well as all the not so fun stuff (standing in line, taking video, etc.) entertaining and say the least. When we got our video back we were nothing but amazed at how managed to capture all the emotions, feelings and moments of our wedding day. I Highly recommend this dude.

I wanted Priscilla to be our wedding videographer even before I knew I was getting married. She had done my best friends video & it was perfect. It made me cry it was so beautiful. So once I had a date for my own wedding, she was a obvious choice. The only problem I could see is that she lived 5 hours away from where we were having the wedding. She reassured me that was no problem & agreed to be there. During the wedding ceremony, while we took pictures & at the reception she was in all the right places, capturing every candid detail. I appreciated that she only captured the moments & didn't stage anything. The video is very organic & beautiful. We both cried. Our family members cried. We will have this video to remember our special day forever. It was the best money we spent on our wedding. Our video is priceless to us. Thank you again Priscilla!

Wow! Our wedding video turned out way better than we ever hoped it could be. Dustin captured such special moments-sweet, sacred, and silly and blended them together in a timeless way that takes us right back to our feelings that day. More than anything, we loved how his videography really showed us being ourselves and the genuine joy we felt shines through the footage. He did an incredible job of prioritizing what was important to us at each event throughout the day. Our family shared the video like wildfire and everyone has commented about how well done it is. We were thoroughly impressed and now we can watch ourselves and remember how wonderful it was. We're glad Dustin did our wedding video and would reccomend him to anyone.

One of the best decisions I made for my wedding was to hire Dreamcastar. They were so easy to work with, arrived to my wedding early, and we're so fast to have my wedding highlight done. They captured all of the special wedding moments that a camera would not have been able to capture. My wedding video was so beautiful, everyone in my family can't help but tear up every time they see it. I seriously can't thank them enough!

Laced Film was seriously the best to work with. She is so willing to do whatever you want to make your special memories last forever in such a perfect way. We just gave her freedom to direct us and film everything she deemed worthy, and the video she produced for us was amazing. She gives you a beautiful finished product as well as gives you all her raw footage. We got everything so quickly after the wedding and loved her responsiveness and punctuality with everything. We would definitely recommend her to anyone in the market for a videographer for any special event, especially your wedding!

Cody went above and beyond, he even got shots of the wedding set-up process, the ceremony and vows, and reception guest interviews and stayed for the entirety of the event and he's a genuinely nice guy to work with. Our highlight video turned out amazing, I'm so glad that we hired 4 Leg Productions to capture our special day. If you're looking for a videographer, I highly suggest using this service.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

          • Package 1: $1,400
            • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
            • Two cameras with audio equipment.
            • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
            • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
          • Package 2: $1,800
            • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
