Up N Over Garage Doors was awesome! Derrick came out same day and got my issue resolved and even helped me with setting up new remotes and a new number pad for the garage! He was super reasonable, fast and let me watch and ask questions along the way. The other thing that i liked about Derrick is that he did not try to up sell me on anything new or not needed on my garage door. My garage door is about 23 years old and is in working condition. It would have been easy for Derrick to come in and say that I needed this thing or that thing to get it working, but he did not. He found and fixed the main problem. When it does come time for me to replace the door and motor I will be calling Derrick to come and do that! Thanks!

I cannot say enough about Infinite Painting. We had the whole exterior of our house painted. The first day they spent caulking everything. I can’t imagine what a tedious job that must be, but they caulked everywhere. They were knowledgeable about what kind of caulk they needed to use so that you don’t see the nail holes. Then they sprayed the garage doors, front doors and the rest of the house. They took extra time to make sure everything was taped off perfectly. The house looks amazing. It was brown and dull and now it is white with black trim. Infinite Painting was respectful, fair with their bid and time as well as attentive. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I could not have asked for anything more than professional! Down to the detail and courteous. Bent over backwards to make sure I was happy and of course I was! I would suggest these guys over anyone, the owner has been most gracious to follow-up and see if I was happy with the job. That's highly unusual and very much appreciated. This is someone to be loyal to and I will be. Great work guys! The door looks brand new!!!

These guys did a great job and were super friendly. The one who did the bid was thorough and easy to work with. And the two guys that did the painting were careful and easy to have around. The only reason I didn't give them five stars was that they showed up without an appointment. There was a bit of a language barrier so I didn't quite understand what had happened, but the lady who I was working with to schedule the appointment didn't return my call and two painters just showed up one day at 8am, wanting to know what my paint color was. Luckily I had a paint deck from Sherwin Williams so I was able to pick out a color and they picked it up and returned to paint seven exterior doors. They did a nice job and cleaned up after themselves. I was satisfied with everything except the scheduling. I had to shuffle a few things around to have someone home all day, but I was satisfied with the work and the quality of the job. I would hire them again.

If the work couldn't be done right the simple way, he did it the way it should be done. He also fixed my front door so it would shut and lock properly ... he wasn't hired for this task but took it upon himself to do it before leaving for the day. I like him and will hire him for another job when I need him.

David Stojic was a pleasure to work with! I hired him to paint our front and patio doors as well as the trim around them. Not only did he do an excellent job, but what he charged for his services was way below what I was expecting. I greatly appreciated his strong work ethic and his easygoing personality. I've already arranged for David to come back and do another painting job, and I'm sure I'll be using his services again in the future!

I have a garage that needed to be prepared for painting. He added mud to the existing sheetrock and sanded. He also hanged 4 lights in the garage. His price was higher than another quote I received but he was able to start right away. They did a good job and I would recommend him.

Uriel Quintero and his office team and crew of painter's are a TOP NOTCH team. The paint crew that came to my home lead by Norma kept me on top of the whole process. When the job was finished my home's exterior looks like it is brand new. I had several neighbors come and look at the job these folks did and wanted to know who was doing the job and how to contact them. I asked for some business cards to pass out, I don't usually do this, but this job came out so good that I will also be spreading their contact info to my fellow workers who have been keeping track of the progress on my house. There aren't enough words of praise for the fantastic job they have done. 5 star's is not high enough for this team.

I have worked with Kore Investments on several home improvement projects. In this case they replaced 2 old doors with new ones. We live in an older home without standard door sizes. They did a professional job in manually cutting and fitting the doors. They look like they were custom made for our 1941 home. They were quick and efficient from quote to invoice. I would highly recommend Kore Investments to anyone looking to do a home improvement or maintenance project. They've done everything from updating electrical, replacing windows with doors, installing a water heater, and now replacing 2 exterior doors. The knowledge and expertise of Matt LeMelle and his team is extensive. There is no home project I wouldn't consult and hire them for.

We had Renae paint a mural in our daughter’s room and it turned out so amazing! She is incredible and such a fun person to get to know. Her talent is undeniable, we were in awe of how she cheered up our daughter’s dark room down in the basement. It’s darling! We also had her do a painting of our home. It is so dear to us and it hangs by our front door and we get comments on it from all of our guests. She’s incredible and so much fun to be around. We would highly recommend her!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How much does it cost to install a new garage door opener?

Your new garage door opener cost will vary based on the model you purchase and how long installation takes. Typically, installation pros charge by the hour, although if the pro is also selling the garage door opener they may have a flat fee for the product with installation. The national average for new garage door opener costs (with installation) is between $390 and $650, although the national average cost for the opener purchased alone may be in the $150-$300 range. The three most common types of openers are chain-drive, screw-drive and belt-drive. The chain-drive costs the least but makes the most noise. The belt-drive is typically the quietest and the most expensive. You can expect to pay about the same amount for installation for any of the three styles. The lifespan of a garage door opener is approximately 10 years, depending on quality. A pro may provide opener repairs for the cost of their service call fee or they may charge a flat fee, such as $100 for opener repair. Here are some examples of new garage door opener average costs, including installation:

  • Contractor-grade garage door opener with installation: $300.
  • Chain-drive opener with installation and one remote: $350.
  • Belt-drive opener with installation and two remotes: $400
  • Top-of-the-line opener with ¾-horsepower battery backup, belt drive and nearly soundless operation: $475
    • The majority of higher-end garage door openers are “smart” products and will connect via app to your smartphone for remote access.
