Awesome. David was on scene the first hour to ensure the team was on track. It was a long 12 hour day and 20000 lbs later all good were moved to my new home. Originally David had 5 movers coming, but ended up bringing 6 due to the size of the job at no additional cost. Aside from my shoes getting lost (have no idea how that happened) :) the move to my 5 bedroom was pretty smooth. If anything I was not prepared enough, and the additional free wardrobe boxes were a huge assist!! I negotiated a flat rate with David to avoid the possible extended move, which was about 1/2 of lowest price quote I had. Thanks David and the team for a job well done. Mike

I must say this was my first time hiring movers and it was an amazing experience. NYPM finished before the time and even came early!!!! Very hard working team and I will highly recommend them to move anyone!! Everything was wrapped with blankets to make sure it was not scratched. Very professsional!!!
Overall very good with two small issues on a short haul (5 mile) move. Firstly, the crew showed up 20 minutes early (and it's a good thing they did - more on that below). The guys were professional, and worked hard throughout. If anything, they were a bit too careful with some of our belongings, i.e. disassembling and wrapping Ikea furniture that could have easily gone on the truck as-is. This led to a longer than needed loading and unloading time and relates to my principal disappointment. We provided an accurate picture of our belongings in advance, and told Max that we had a fixed window when we could move into our new place. Because of the slow loading, we arrived late to the new place and ran over our move in window by about 20 minutes. Having moved only 5 months ago, and not having changes to our belongings, we had a precise benchmark for move times. Our previous (long-haul) movers unloaded our belongings in 45 minutes where Dulles took just over 2 hours (same crew size). Largely due to technique - Dulles hand-carted everything to and from the truck, whereas our other movers made a large "wagon" out of a refrigerator box & a dolly to shift several boxes/furniture in fewer trips. I'm sure Dulles will make the case for taking greater care, but I felt this cost us about 1-1.5 hours in total in the course of the move. This again, could be a selling point, but my disappointment stems from 1) not being asked if we wanted the Ikea items wrapped, and more 2) not being given a better time estimate given that they do this all the time, were told our time limitations, and were provided an accurate inventory. Also didn't help that they rounded-up to the hour about 25 minutes after finishing late. We had minor language issues as others have cited (and may be why we weren't asked to wrap items), but overall, still 4 stars and very good, just didn't need the additional stress on the day or fees. Would recommend, but budget accordingly for time & cost.
I don't usually cheer on Thumbtack and I'm leery of people that have nothing in their reviews but 5-stars or 1-star, but these guys are worth some serious recommendation. I've had some bad experiences with moving companies in the past, the usual stuff - broken furniture, surly attitudes, etc. I figured it was par for the course. A1 sent us a quote and assumed that even some negative reviews these guys must be halfway decent. My expectations were exceeded. The whole contract was negotiated in email, including a 5% discount for doing the move on a Monday. All emails were responded to super fast and contracts all passed back and forth as attachments. Wow, a moving company that "gets" the modern communication age, thank you! They confirmed a few days before and called on the way, too. It's amazing how your first contact impression with a company can make a big difference. LaShawn, who fielded all my emails, was awesome. My place was is up in Darnestown and most people get lost, but the guys showed up between 9AM and 10AM right when scheduled. I had scheduled three guys and they had a fourth at no charge. The first thing they did was have everyone introduce themselves, very professional and a nice start. We did a walk-through and I pointed out everything that had to go, I had several expensive pieces from back home and everything I requested (wrap this well, etc, etc) was answered with a cheerful "no problem!" They cleaned out my place in 6 hours, everything was well wrapped and stacked, they were extremely conscious of the walls and doors, not a nick or anything anywhere. It was pretty amazing how fast it went and the guys have obviously been working together for a long time and work well as a team. At my destination, despite an elevator, they were organized and they had everything sorted in no time. I had labeled boxes (bath, bed, kitchen, garage, etc) and everything was put where it should be, and again, no walls or door jams were hurt in the process. When they stacked, they did so in a sensible way and kept halls clear. I had requested 12 wardrobe boxes, so I assumed that they would bring some for me to start shoving my hanging clothes into. Instead they just said "tell us what you want moved" and they did everything, including putting all the clothes into wardrobe boxes, and putting all the clothes in my closets at the destination. It's little touches like that you really appreciate on move day. The whole time the entire crew was upbeat and chipper. I was told that the crews at A1 are cherry-picked from elsewhere, they hire the best guys from other companies. I absolutely believe it. I kicked down $140 in tips for the guys, I could not have been happier. They even take credit cards, so you can get the miles. Moving is never fun, or cheap, but these guys totally restored my faith that they are good companies out there and I would never take my business (or my recommendation) elsewhere. A1 Movers rocks.
I hired Great Nation for a local move across town. The actual moving crew was phenomenal. Disassembled and reassembled furniture quickly and expertly and beat their own time estimate by over an hour. The guys showed up on time and worked hard. They were friendly and asked questions to make sure the furniture was where and how I wanted it, and they were very careful with both my home and my furniture. On the other hand, my experience with the office was ok. Phone conversations trying to schedule an in-home estimate were discombobulated - I was pleasantly surprised when someone actually showed up - and for some reason it took a couple of days before they could track down the estimate that had been compiled and email it to me. Then, I received a call the day before the scheduled move asking if I could push the move back a day. Apparently, they had just realized they didn't have any suitable trucks available. It actually worked out fine for me, as it pushed the move back to a Saturday and we just missed out on having another weekend day to unpack, but I would understand how a last-minute request like that could really stress some people out or mess up their plans. Moving can be a very stressful process, and working up to the day of the move with Great Nation added to this stress a bit, but overall, the professionalism and skill of the movers more than made up for it. I was nervous and unsure I had made the right decision right up until the movers arrived, but in the end I was very satisfied with the quality of the work.
I lived in a 3rd floor walkup apartment that could have thrown off the movers sent from Baku Moving. But they had no issues with the stairs. They arrived on time which is always nice. Their packing skills were great too. They carried my furniture down 3 sets of stairs way too easily. They delivered everything in great condition all the way from Virginia to Pennsylvania. I am so happy with their services.
Anthony and Eastbay were so great during my recent move- I had blocked off an hour to move a small load to a truck to drive out-of-state and they got it done efficiently. Everything was in it's place and packed perfectly. I can't recommend Eastbay Movers enough!!
I was so impressed with the professionalism of Smart Moving and cannot recommend them enough! Bab, the owner, was incredibly responsive and answered all my numerous questions in advance. My husband and I were returning from an international flight and needed to have our items moved from our storage unit to our apartment. Our flight was delayed several hours, and Bab and his team graciously pushed back the move time without any problem and even went to storage facility early to pick up keys before they closed. Bab also packed our TV in his own car to ensure it was extra protected rather than in the moving truck. So thoughtful! The team was incredibly speedy and careful with our things and took about half the time that I had expected, and thus the total cost was much less than what we calculated. I highly recommend Smart Movers, and we will definitely be using them again!

I hired Tim to help me move a 1 BR apartment. At first I was hesitant, since his quote mentioned "up to 3 people" - but he ended up showing up by himself. Apparently, the people he usually works with cancelled him last minute. However, this was no trouble for Tim, as he handled all my belongings with great care (wrapped them with quilts and shrink wrap), and had no trouble loading everything into the truck. As our time window to move was shrinking, Tim realized he needed another set of hands, so he went and hired someone to help him at his expense while respecting the lowered quote he had given me (since the other movers didn't show up). I really appreciated Tim's integrity and how careful he was with my stuff - I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again, as I know he'll do a great job, no matter the circumstances.
My moving experience was well executed. The movers were fast, professional, friendly and most importantly reasonably priced.
I had to change movers at the last minute when I found out that the movers I had hired could not deliver for two weeks. Matthew's called me back almost immediately and was able to step in, getting all my belongings from DC to New Orleans in just a couple of days, in one truck, not a shared van that would make numerous stops. Our movers, Alex and Mike, were prompt, quick, personable and professional and a pleasure to work with. Matthew's was a little more expensive than others but well worth it for the peace of mind they gave me and for the level of service. Moving is really stressful, but using Matthew's Nationwide Moving really helped make it easier. Thanks.
The job went well and the movers were very quick in taking boxes to and from each location. My furniture was wrapped in shrink wrap plus blankets to ensure it was not harmed in the process. The movers did arrive later than expected and I had to call the owner to find out where they were. Other than the early setback the move went smoothly with no issues. Would use again. Highly recommended movers at an affordable cost.
