Rev. Brown was an amazing officiant. He was very flexible and was willing to work with what we really wanted th ceremony to be. Not only that, but we also included a Celtic/Norse knot tying ceremony as part of the wedding, and even though he had never done one before, he performed it wonderfully and was very open minded about the entire thing. He also made it clear that he was there for us from here on out. If we ever have any problems, we were welcomed to contact him and discuss the matters because he takes it as his personal responsibility to us. It is wonderful to know he is so invested in your relationship. I would definitely recommend him to anyone getting married. You will not be disappointed!

Barak did an excellent job at our wedding and dealing with our mixed group of adults and kids. This was a quickly planned wedding, without a rehearsal dinner nor a set schedule. Barak just went with the flow and took everything in stride. When music wasn't attracting people to the dance floor, he wasn't afraid to try something new. He eventually got the whole wedding party to the dance floor. His wife was there assisting and she was just wonderful. When our child got fussy, she took him behind the DJ table and let him play with some of the equipment and her iPhone. He absolutely adored her. The equipment was better than we had expected. Lighting and prompter were included in the price, we didn't need to rent any additional lighting from the venue. Karaoke was great and he was able to get stuff streaming from the internet to the prompter. Great people, great set-up and lots of fun!

Bree was fantastic! She was professional and efficient while still making the experience fun! I was impressed with her ability to make everyone feel at ease and she took some incredible photo's as a result. She went out of her way to find out what style of photo's I wanted. She was even able to suggest poses and angles I would never have thought of. She was reasonably priced and quick with getting me the photo's after the wedding. I cannot say enough good things about my experience working with Bree! I WILL be using her for all my future photography needs!

Jan DJ'd for our wedding and he did a great job! He was flexible, easy to communicate with, and rolled with a timeline that shifted a lot during the event. He was able to command a crowd and played music based on what people were responding to. Definitely an excellent DJ choice!

Chef Paul and Stephanie recently catered my wedding. They were prompt, professional, and worked with us to design the custom menu of our dreams for an affordable price! My husband and I shopped around before selecting them, and you will not be able to find a better value in the Puget Sound region. Importantly, Chef Paul has a diverse repertoire and the taste and presentation of their food are top-notch. Our guests were blown away by the food and we got so many compliments on many different dishes that were served. Favorites from our wedding were the poke, salmon, kalua pork, grilled Mexican street corn, lemon and carrot mini cupcakes, mushroom crostini appetizers, habanero salsa and authentic dairy-free horchata. They also prepared many fresh toppings for the taco bar and brought all the condiments we wanted. If you are looking for a delicious, custom menu at an affordable price, you can depend on Chef Paul and Stephanie to deliver!

We loved working with Kyle! He is such an awesome individual. I found Kyle through thumbtack months ago. We met up with him and instantly we cliqued! He took the time to get to know us and so the photoshoot just went smoothly and not awkward at all. It helps a lot when you are comfortable around your photographer :) Kyle is full of energy and definitely knows the right shots to take. He will not rush you and will take the time to capture the right moments. It's unfortunate that our wedding will be on a cruise and aren't allowed to bring our own wedding photographer; but I will definitely contact him again for other stuff and let other friends know about him!

I couldn't have been made a better choice hiring Alex to shoot our wedding day. Alex was one of the first vendors I hired for my April 2017 wedding. My now-husband and I decided at the beginning of October to move the wedding up to Halloween 2016. Alex was extremely flexible and accommodating on such short notice. The communication between us was always prompt, and I appreciated that I felt like a priority, which was not something I had with a few other vendors. Day of, Alex was professional and personable. All of the staged and family shots are beautiful, but my favorite pictures from Alex are the candid ones. There are some beautiful moments that I will forever be grateful Alex captured for me and my family. The cherry on the top was when I received all of my pictures back after only ten days.

Brian was super easy to work with, especially given the short notice only a few weeks before our wedding. The lighting package we worked out with him also added a nice setting for our reception in lieu of expensive drape rentals. Our guests had nothing but compliments on how nice and personable Brian was - like he was a personal friend DJing and MCing for us. He provided a lot of helpful suggestions for activities and trivia that helped a lot with the flow of the evening and keeping everything moving and interactive. There was no "dead air" the entire night. I definitely recommend Digital Hitz for your event!

Timothy Overturf officiated myself and my husband's wedding October 31, 2015. If life hadn't have gotten in the way, he would have gotten an immediate rating of excellence. Our wedding came at a bit of a rush, so I could be married in front of my great aunt who is now 104 years old. Mr. Overturf rose to the occasion beautifully. He could only meet with my husband to discuss our vows before showing up to marry us. He was beyond respectful to my family, and they absolutely loved him. He is very easy going and when we renew our vows, we will certainly be giving him a call (hopefully with more planning involved!) - We were supposed to have a traditional wedding this year, 2016, however life had other plans for us, as I became pregnant. Our renewal in the future will now have the added bonus of either a ring bearer or flower girl!!

Divya did my makeup for three separate occasions (engagement pictures, bridal portrait pictures, and my wedding day). Each time she provided exceptional work. I've loved my makeup each time and felt so comfortable with Divya. She made sure to prepare for the exact look I wanted before our makeup session took place. I walked away each time feeling super confident about everything. She was quick to respond to my emails and so easy to work with! Had a great experience!

Stephen was the perfect addition to our wedding. He met with us a few months ahead of the date and really took the time to make the experience about us. On the day of the wedding he was on time and extremely personable with friends and family. We gave him total control of the music for the night and he nailed it. Our families loved him and we would recommend him for any event. My wife and I wish him the best with his business and could never say enough nice things about him. If you get the chance to work with Stephen you will not be sorry.

Lonnie did an exceptional job officiating our wedding. I contacted him through Thumbtack, briefly communicated him over email, and then met with him a month before the wedding. He came very prepared to the meeting, asking a lot of questions to ensure that the ceremony would go exactly like we wanted it. He is very experienced, and was able to make suggestions and recommendations that really enhanced the wedding. The day of the wedding, he worked well with the coordinator and venue to make the ceremony go seamlessly. I am very glad we found him, and that he was a part of our wedding.

She made sure I was comfortable every step and made me feel so beautiful. Her skills are on point! I would recommend everyone to get your makeup done regardless of occasion, she will make sure your not over the top but eyes will still be on you! I will definitely be getting more done and have her doing my wedding! Quincee's work is perfect quality!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
