Lee called me immediately after I messaged him my phone number on Thumbtack, accepting his quoted cost to come check out my appliance. A 3 yr old Samsung Refrigerator. Top of the line for 2015, the door in the door model. We had already been called and told it was past warranty specifications by only a few months. He was easy to talk to, came out the same day, and was respectful and courteous to both myself and my 87 yr old mother-in-law. Very friendly with our dogs which made it a plus to have in our home. We definitely will call Lee again for our future appliance servicing needs.

Everything about our experience with Dennis was great! Our gas water heater went out and while I'm pretty good at repairs, I didn't know enough about replacing this appliance so we looked at the reviews and hired Dennis. His expertise, attention to detail, professionalism - all top-notch. And on top of it all, a very nice guy! We couldn't have asked for a better professional experience. Will definitely hire again.

The technicians of RoBoX arrived on a Saturday, making time that day for an issue with my dryer. They were courteous and knowledgeable, and were obviously looking to save me unnecessary expense as they isolated the problem. They kept me informed throughout the whole process, and charged me only for the time spent on the necessary repair. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of timely and efficient service on any appliance repair needs.

Daryl came within a day's notice and was very cordial and efficient. He replaced my sink for me and my family and every thing that could go wrong went wrong with the swap. He handled it all in a highly professional manner and a can do attitude. The end result is a beautiful sink to match my appliances which keeps the wife happy. I would highly recommend Daryls services and would gladly call on him again for other home projects. Thank You Daryl it was truly and honor doing business with you.

Tim was prompt, professional and skilled. He arrived, diagnosed problem quickly, installed a solution and left two very happy customers behind. We were able to cancel a service call that would have made us wait 2 extra days and cost $300 more!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
