Tino and his team did a great job removing and replacing some siding that had been installed incorrectly and and was allowing water into our home. He also replaced and repaired some windows, window sills, and drywall that has been damaged, and repaired some cracked in an external stucco wall that was allowing water in. They were quick, affordable, responsive, and professional! We’ll be hiring again for additional repairs/remodel in the coming months.

Drying Force is great. Very communicative and responsive, and gave me next steps from their investigation that were honest even though they didn’t stand to benefit from them in this instance. I will definitely reach out again next time I have waterdamage in my home. I now have confidence in what direction to go in to solve my problem thanks to them. Thank you!

During a full week of heavy rainfall we had a flood happen in our newly finished basement of our 1942 home which had been recently remodeled with an additional story. Needless to say I was extremely stressed as our carpets were soaked and I had no idea how the water had come into our basement. That same night I contacted Robert via email (found his services on Thumbtack) and he immediately responded and personally came to our house the next morning to view the damages. He had a restoration company come out that same day to pull out the carpet pads and dry out our basement. A few days later, after the basement was dried out, Robert personally came back out to investigate the cause of the water intrusion. With the added story to our house our fear was that the additional weight had cracked the foundation. But after pulling out the drywall he noticed the insulation around our old, unused chimney was soaked. There were also old water stains coming out of our old furnace flue which was connected to the old chimney. Robert proceeded to go outside and do numerous tests around the foundation as well as climbing to the top of our chimney to find that it was improperly capped. When he tested the top of the chimney by spraying water up towards it from the ground, as if it were raining, we witnessed water coming into the basement where the old water stains were apparent. Robert resealed the cap and wrote out a detailed report on what needs to be fixed to ensure a leak from the chimney would never happen again. Robert also directly called our insurance to explain what he found which helped our case in getting insurance to cover the costs. By Robert accurately detecting the cause of the flood insurance covered the costs of this project. Robert was very responsive and trustworthy. I could quickly tell that he was on our side and was compassionate towards our problem. His subcontractors were very nice and they got the job done right and efficiently. I highly recommend Robert for any home emergencies. He is extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, compassionate and an all around good guy.

Ivan was the first to show up at our house when I reached out to contractors about the water in our laundry room. He correctly evaluated our situation (a clogged greywater drain that backed up into our laundry room), noting that given the circumstances, the damage to drywall and tile would likely be covered by insurance. He came ready to get to work with all the necessary equipment. He is knowledgeable about water intrusion issues and knew just what to do. He was also happy to work with our insurance company who did indeed cover the full cost of all his work.
After his demo work was complete, he ensured the area was dry to required standards by closely monitoring the moisture in the environment with his equipment. He referred us to a contractor who reconstructed our laundry room including adding new drywall, tile, and paint. We are grateful for Ivan's quick and professional response that helped us get our laundry room back to working order.

Robert and Julie both care a lot about going above and beyond to help fix the waterdamage to my townhouse. The first contractor that my insurance company sent did not properly mitigate the damage. Robert went in and pointed out all the things they were not doing right, and helped get the proper fix done. There were also many things that the insurance company did not want to cover, but Robert fought hard to get a lot more than what was initially offered by the insurance company. The quality of the final work was excellent -- they made sure to return whenever I pointed anything out and made it right. I was also on the East Coast staying with family the whole time, and Robert/Julie were great taking care of things while I was remote. Someone stole the lockbox for the house during repairs, and Robert stepped in to help replace the lockbox and walk through the unit with police to ensure no one was squatting inside. The only area of improvement I could think of is that I'd like Robert to give more realistic time frames on how long the repairs and negotiations with insurance would take. Robert's an optimistic guy, and the expectations around time frame were much too optimistic. Bottom-line: If your highest priority is honest and high-quality work, definitely put Hawaiian at the top of your list. If finishing work by a specific date is critical, consider getting that date in writing.

Environment Control of North Seattle helped us repair and recover from waterdamage in our kitchen.
When this happened, they were prompt to send someone over to investigate the source and then recommend the work needed in order to fix it. Their work estimate was very detailed, highlighting everything needed in detail.
On the day when the work was planned, they walked us through what they were planning to do each day, as well letting us know what parts of the kitchen would be accessible. End of each day followed by a verbal report as well as their team checking in over text msgs if we have any follow-up questions or concerns.
In summary, they operate a highly professional, coordinated, and transparent team that keeps you informed along the whole process. Thank you Ron and the team!
We would highly recommend this company's services for anyone looking for a trusted and well managed restoration company.

We hired North West Restoration LLC. to do restoration for waterdamage in our basement. The 3-member team removed rugs, impacted wall, packed items from the basement to the garage, and used fans to eliminate the water. However, they also removed base tile that didn’t require removing and they didn’t ask nor have our permission to remove. The removal of the tile, transport and disposal, and the additional 48+ hours of exhausting was another tactic for increasing the cost of their work. At the conclusion, they provided me with an unusually expensive invoice of $23k. This is a job that should have cost no more than $8k.
They reduced this down by 20% to 18k since insurance was only covering $10k of the cost. I had a similar flood situation that happened in 2019 in my basement. I had restoration done by Roto-Rooter that included water removal (the water was contaminated with sewage while the water in the 2023 situation was clear), removal of rugs and parts of walls. In addition, everything in the entire basement was packed out by a separate company. In fact, 3 times more items were removed and trucked down to storage in Tacoma. We remodeled the bathroom, installed new rugs, and paid the cost of packing, storing, and transporting basement items both ways to and from Tacoma. All of this work was done for under $28k. The cost for restoration from Roto Rooter was a just over $6k. I have receipts from this work.
Their business practices are unethical and borderline unlawful. For example, they wouldn't provide us with a written estimate although we asked at various junctures. My wife was very pesky about getting an estimate and Vadim indicated to her that the total cost would be under $10k. I asked Jason, another member of the team to approximate the cost towards the end of the project and he quoted between $5k-$7k. When I received the invoice for $23k, I asked them why they didn’t give me an estimate at the outset as is typical. Vadim’s response was as follows:
“Hey Kevin, Again, we don’t provide estimates. This is absolutely not a tactic, We take our job seriously, we bill per S-500 Insurance standards, through xactimate software. They provide the invoice as we put in the scope of work into the software. We already deducted a generous amount, that is just what the mitigation costs. How you choose to proceed is completely up to you. “
Based upon Vadim’s response above, I contacted Xactimate to determine their recommendation on whether their software should be used post work to generate a final price. The representative response to me was that the S-500 Xactimate system should be used to help generate the estimate. Had they given me an estimate over $9K, I would have told them thanks but no thanks. I would like to meet with other companies before I decide. The Xactimate system they are relying on is basically an excel spreadsheet that is a tactic to enhance the credibility of their scam. In addition to getting a response from Xactimate regarding estimates, the Restoration Industry Association also weighed in with the following statement:
It is best practices to provide an estimate for restoration prior to conducting any work. This helps establish clear expectation with the client regarding costs and scope of the project. However, Using the S500 standards itemized list to generate the invoice at the conclusion of work can also be beneficial for transparency and accountability, ensuring that all work performed is properly documented and billed according to industry standards.
As a final addition, this is how they promote themselves on Thumbtack where they clearly state “Free on-site estimates.” I paid them $9k and they plan to put a lien on my home for the remainder. I plan to take them to court to ensure that they stop these business practices.

Hawaiian Construction was excellent. Essentially, the project was to correct a serious problem that occurred on the outside corner of the garage where the main water pipe is. During the start of the project, the company obtained the necessary permits that were required by the City of Seattle. Although it took a considerable amount of time for the city to respond (primarily because construction demands appeared to be very high after the Covid lock downs), Robert maintained contact with the city and with me. Hawaiian Construction also worked with my insurance company to explain the damage, the repair estimates, and the permits required by the city. Because of the initial problem, the garage framing was seriously weakened and had to be replaced to shore the roof which had sagged when the garage framing had been seriously weakened. Also, the sagging of the garage roof required a replacement of the garage door. Moreover, the roof sag compromised the outside brick wall and the Seattle City Light electrical meter attached to the brick wall, both of which needed to be repaired. Robert Black personally explained what were the best solutions to the problems. We discussed the options and once the appropriate solution was chosen, he provided the estimate for the work and explained each item in detail.
During the repair work the company was punctual and always showed up when it had established the arrival time. Ramon managed the repair project very well, doing a significant part of the work, and also managed a couple subcontractors. Although one of the Seattle City Codes had changed during the process, Robert worked with the insurance company to accommodate the necessary additional work to complete the project under the new code. Thanks to Robert and Ramon, the subcontractors' work was also excellent.
All in all, I am very happy with Hawaiian Construction, its personnel, the choice of subcontractors, and its excellent work quality as well as the value associated with this high quality.
