Allan was absolutely amazing. We could not have asked for a better person to perform our ceremony. Allan was always easy to get ahold of and was definitely willing to work with us to make the ceremony personable. He is such a loving, genuine and sincere person. He has even checked up on us after the wedding to make sure we are doing good and to see if there was anything we needed. I would recommend him to anyone. We cannot thank him enough from the bottom of our hearts. He is definitely one of a kind and we can't wait to continue building a friendship with him and his equally amazing wife.

We hired Jeff to DJ our wedding after a relatively last minute hiccup with another one we had hired, and let me just say...I am SO glad that Jeff was our DJ. He was so awesome in his patience with us as we got our song list together, and he went above and beyond in making sure the music kept playing (even having to switch from outdoors to indoors halfway through). He more than exceeded our expectations. If you want a DJ that allows you to not even have to think about whether everything will go smoothly, he’s your guy. We cannot say enough good things about him. Thank you so much!

This DJ was excellent and in my opinion made my wedding reception really fun. He was everything I wanted from playing our special dance songs to reading the crowd and fulfilling requests. Everybody danced the night away. The music was just too good to sit down. He made available wireless mics for our toasts and had a live slideshow of pictures on the DJ table. He was professional in every sense of the word. I would definitely recommend My Event DJ for any type of event.

My first experience with DJ Quad was at a corporate event that my employer hosted and I was so impressed with his work that I booked him for my wedding reception. He is a true professional and lived up to everything I expected and more. He is already booked for our next corporate event and I will be referring him to anyone that asks about a DJ.

Leta... IS AMAZING! God blessed my husband and I so much when putting her in our life. She made our wedding less of a stress for both of us. She took the time to listen and care for our request and preferences, (while still showing us what was best and what would not look or flow well), answered all of our questions (which was a lot), and did not allow my “bride brain” to forget anything. She’s kind, talented, and professional. We would not go back and change anything about our wedding.

Shamar (Picture Perfect) is a trustworthy, dependable photographer who listened to what I needed & delivered exceptional quality. He really helped us relax into the session & was able to put us at ease, producing some wonderful photos which are worth every penny. Shamar has been there to capture all of our major life events so far from our wedding to the first year of our children's lives & family photo shoots. It is fantastic to be able to return to Shamar each time & this is only possible due to his skill & ability to adapt to different situations from controlling a wedding crowd to his patients with children. Each time he has provided us with what we wanted. We would thoroughly recommend Shamar’s (Picture Perfect) services. He provides a truly personalised experience.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

    What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
