Travis Dillahunt was the DJ at our daughter's wedding reception on 12/21/14. He did a fabulous job running the reception and playing music that appealed to the multi-generational crowd. He played music for happy hour, dinner, and dancing. The dance floor was packed-everyone danced- all evening long. Guests reported having a 'blast'! In addition to playing music, Travis ran the events within the reception with ease. He kept the reception moving along the time line efficiently. His lively personality added to the event. Prior to the event, Travis met with my daughter and fiance. His experience was evident as he gave them valuable suggestions regarding set up and play lists. He solicited their input to personalized the event. He suggested lighting which added to the festive energy. The entire reception was amazing! Thanks Travis!

Loved working with Adrian. He truly saved the day! With only about ten days notice, we were able to book him for a Sat., on Memorial Day weekend to photograph our very impromptu civil wedding ceremony. He was right on time, professional, and very personable. Even though we putting things together on the fly, he swiftly went with it, found several great locations to take our pictures, offered direction on how to pose, and made us feel very much at ease. The end product was just beautiful, we loved our pictures. My husband and I highly reccomend Adrian T. Bird Photography, and would use him again without hesitation.

Nataliya is simply the best! She is sweet and very kind. Her quality of work went beyond my expectations. She will make sure every detail is perfected and really listens to your needs. I had an Indian/American mixed wedding and needed something that suited both. She nailed it! If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would. My hair is hard to work with, very curly and frizzy, and she tamed the beast. (Pic shown) I would highly recommend. We love you, Nataliya!❤️ Thank you so much!!!

We initially booked Harrison to take our engagement photos over 10 years ago. He then shot our wedding, and we loved our photos so much we hired him to shoot my parents' wedding anniversary dinner. We live on the east coast, but each year when we come to visit family, we have hired Harrison to do a photo shoot. He has become our family photographer. Harrison's photos of our family through the years are hanging all over our homcome, and truly everyone who visits our home for the first time compliments our portraits.

Working with Pastor Cameron Martin was a great experience. Had a good sit down with him to ask questions and get details. He arrived when expected and in the attire that we requested. He was very pleasant with excellent attitude. I felt bad that my family was not ready at time that we requested. He was very patient and never rushed us. The ceremony was excellent and went exactly as planned. I would highly recommend.

Scott is as classy as they come. I had the pleasure of working with Scott for 3 years and I was honored to have him perform my wedding. He stretched me as a leader and taught me the value of valuing people. He also pushed me to become more organized and that over communication is better than under communication. I am forever grateful for Scott.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
