About

Schedule a trial guitar lesson for 7 year old daughter to gauge her interest and response to it. It went really well. Worked with Tony, he was passionate and was able to engage her and maintain her interest. We signed up for more lessons. Nice experience overall, good customer service and follow up.

Ed is a great guitar teacher whose enthusiasm can be contagious. He is clearly a skilled guitarist with a trained ear. He knows how to keep me motivated by keeping me working on a good balance between songs and music theory. He has been great for introducing me to different genres of music. I love that his teaching method does not require any books, etc. He draws up chord diagrams and music notes when necessary, which is actually more helpful because he walks me through it as he's drawing things up. He also encourages videotaping parts of lessons so that I can always go back and reference things that I miss. All around great teacher who I highly recommend!

Just went through the first free trial lesson and I must say Kevin is extremely organize, fun, and provide a very comfortable environment to learn guitar. I've decided to go for the 10-lesson package (if he had 20 or 30, I would actually go for those). Looking forward to the class

Ian has been a wonderful instructor. Very patient and explains everything very well. Being a complete beginner, Ian has made sure to encourage me and has made me feel extremely comfortable. I was very nervous when we started but I now get very excited to practice and have my sessions with Ian. I highly recommend the Music Joynt!

My daughter, who is almost 9, is shy and she doesn't like to finish projects that she has started. We expected her to quit the guitar within a week or two, but Greg keeps it interesting for her and she enjoys playing and is even asking for an electric guitar for Christmas so she can practice on both acoustic and electric. She has had 5 lessons so far, and we enjoy listening to her practice. I recommend Greg!

About

Paul is a talented musician that can relate to the aspiring musician in all of us. I've enjoyed my guitar lessons with him, especially his practical way of teaching that begins with a song selection and learning it chord by chord. Even more interesting, he can relate contemporary chords to international music styles that influences our music. Paul gives more time per lesson than expected and makes it fun. He uses the smartphone video function to capture key parts of each lesson so you can use it at home as a study guide. Creative, flexible and fun. Kudo's and chords to him!

About

I teach beginning music lessons for guitar, piano, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele. I teach beginning bluegrass, classical guitar, pop music, blues, rock and roll, and country music. I currently have a senior class at the Norman Park Senior Center here in Chula Vista. I have students from 8 to 70. I want my students to be able to read music and hopefully go on to play music for the rest of their lives. I have one student who is a music major at Southwestern College. He is taking private lessons with emphasis on music theory. I have given him instructions on major and minor scales, harmonics, and melodic scales as well as solo songs to perform for his instructors. I have 46 years of experience playing guitar, piano, and voice and about 10 years of experience playing bass guitar. I am a working musician. I perform with two ukulele groups locally. I also play with another fellow, preforming '50s, '60s, oldies, country, and Hawaiian songs. At age 8, I started out playing piano, and after I turned 12, my father bought my first guitar, which I still have. I went to College of Southern Idaho as a music major. I graduated from Boise State University in 1980 with a degree in music education. My major instrument was classical guitar.

Melody Music Studios. Since she was 16 years old, Melody Moore has been a professional actress, musician and vocalist. She started her career in musical theatre and graduated to television and film. She starred in the independent hit "Down and Out with the Dolls," a laugh out loud comedy on the ups and downs of an all-girl rock band. Her roles in theatrical productions include Rizzo in Grease, Ti Moune in Once on This Island and numerable others. Originally from Washington State, she has relocated to San Diego to pursue from San Diego State University her music degree. Currently, Melody is in a very competitive program that accepted less than 5 new students this year, the San Diego State University electro-acoustic music program. Her approach to teaching combines classical elements with influences from blues, pop, jazz, rock and everything in between. Her students enjoy an open learning atmosphere that concentrates on the student's personal needs. She has over 5 years of teaching under her belt, and 11 years of being a professional performer. As a vocalist and musician, Melody has toured the country with her own original band playing casinos, nightclubs, and opening for national acts such as Ian Moore, Caroline Dawn Johnson and Saving Jane. She has shared stages with Canadian super-talent Kinnie Starr and members from the Nymphs. Her Hyperactive Music Festival performances have gathered her critical acclaim from Creed and Puddle of Mudd producer John Kurzweg, and she finished 2nd place out of more than 200 entries in the Sisters Folk Festival's David Carter Memorial Songwriting contest. Her music has been featured on the FTM podcast network, Dessert Highway radio, and NPR.

About

All ages are encouraged. I provide lessons for beginners to intermediates. My lessons are never boring. You start playing the day you walk in. You can play any style you want—rock, alternative, pop, punk, country, blues, and classical. You just bring the songs you want to play! You can get real-world experience by playing with live accompaniment. You will learn to read tablature, music, and chord charts; you can even learn how to play by ear! With my 25 years of experience, you will learn fast. Take guitar lessons from a pro teacher! Total beginners are encouraged. I have played for 30 years and have been a gigging musician since my teens. I am a full-time music teacher. No matter what style you're into, we can find some songs by your favorite artists and get you playing them. (Even if you've never picked up the guitar before!) I have a good track record with beginner/intermediate-level players and getting them on track, improving, and taking an interest in practicing. Playing styles like punk, alternative, metal, indie, blues, classic rock, etc. are pretty easy when you get down to it. Learn one song and you'll realize you can already play 20 others. It's all about having a good, patient teacher who makes sure you make the right choices as far as what to work on. Now, that doesn't mean I'm going to assign you a lesson plan. We'll only play tunes by your favorite bands/artists. Bring in any CD and I'll teach you from it on the spot. You can learn electric blues chops along the lines of Stevie Ray, Magic Sam, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, BB King, Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, etc. You can also learn the fingerstyle country blues of artists like John Hurt, Fred McDowell, Taj Mahal, Big Bill Broonzy, and Lightnin Hopkins. You can also decide to learn the slide guitar style of artists like Son House, Kelly Joe Phelps, Warren Haynes/Allman Bros., John Mooney, Bukka White, Robert Johnson, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, etc. I have a huge backlog of songs, riffs, and exercises that can get your chops up in any/all of those styles. You can also bring in your favorite CDs and learn from those. I'm a touring musician and well-versed in all of those playing styles and have taught them for years. I also provide bass, classical and Latin guitar lessons. You will learn to play the classical, Spanish guitar and learn how to read music, proper right and left hand positions, scales, arpeggios, and beautiful repertoire. Beginners are welcome, as well as advanced. I have many years of experience with children, teenagers, and adults. Whatever level you are at, I will help you reach your maximum potential. ––Senior guitar instructor Ozzie’s Music
