Pura Buena Onda - Conversational Spanish

(9 reviews)

What do you love about your job?

There are so many things I love about my job! I love the students whom I meet. They are absolutely amazing, interesting and open people. I love the team that I work with. It is made up of fantastic teachers. They are also fun, intelligent and warm-hearted individuals.

I love to see the students progress. It's so gratifying to see a students who come in and barely know anything. However, after a few months, they are having full-blown conversations about life, current events, etc.

What or who inspired you to start your own business?

Matt, a friend and writer, who I worked with in the television industry suggested I open my own business one day. I thought he was crazy, but for some reason, I put some thought into it and took his suggestion. I'm so glad that I did!

Describe your most memorable project.

Eight years ago, I made the switch from teaching traditional Spanish classes to teaching conversational Spanish. Grammar, reading, writing, etc. are all great to know, but if you can't communicate with someone, it doesn't really matter how well you conjugate verbs. My students now have a fun and friendly place to practice their Spanish!

    Lynne Feldman

    (14 reviews)

Lynne is just the kind of tutor I was looking for. Because she speaks her well-educated Spanish at a pace I can understand, I am able to converse with her in Spanish in a way that enables her to pick up on my errors. She made note of these, corrected them, and sent me a follow-up list of them via e-mail which is a great way of reinforcing the learning experience. It is primarily conversational Spanish that I want to improve upon. I have tried various ways of improving my Spanish over many years, and working with Lynne was the most successful and satisfying for me. Lynne was very accommodating about meeting at a place and time that was very convenient for me.

Native Tongue: Professional Language Instruction and Interpreter Services

I am currently receiving personalized instruction from Native Tongue. For years, I have been learning Spanish a little here and there. Sr. Londono has shown the professional and academic expertise to adapt to the student's needs and preferences. As I learn concepts, he moves me to another step to improve my knowledge of Spanish. But what makes it worthwhile is he is adept at making a student grow "organically" like a native speaker. Inscribete para dar un paso adelante.

I do not take Spanish lessons from Rosa, but attend the Club De Lectura book club. I love it! Rosa keeps the discussion going by excellent questions, but never takes over. She also gives us important information about the authors we read in order to enhance our understanding. I am the poorest Spanish speaker in the group, but my opinions are never made to feel less valuable. I love just hearing the good Spanish of the other members and learning more each week. I would recommend any endeavor presented by Rosa most highly. You won't be disappointed!

Pura Buena Onda - Conversational Spanish

    (9 reviews)

I've been a student at PBO for over 3 years and my Spanish has improved dramatically! Caro is GREAT and she knows what she's doing. She is creative, smart, fun, and has managed to attract great students who are enjoyable to be with in class. She uses the perfect combination of instruction, coaching and guided conversation. Grammar lessons? Vocabulary? Verb conjugation? Yes, yes and yes. But there are also games, stories, music, show-and-tell, jokes, idioms, word usages, and lots of conversation - structured and informal. One of the aspects I appreciate most about class is the opportunity to about the cultural significance of language and important country-to-country differences. Caro is a delightful person and I highly recommend taking a class from her if you're looking for a Spanish-learning environment that is productive and focused, but also fun and supportive.

Once she started tutoring me, things completely changed! Within a few months, my grades were up to an A-/B+ average! And her notes are fantastic! So neat and the colors help me remember all the formulas! She's fantastic!!" Michelle, 6th grader parent: "My daughter was struggling in multiple subjects and with sports she didn't have a lot of time to be wasting.
