We hired Rocco to come cook for our Mother's Day dinner. He did a great job planning the meal and altering it to people's likes and dislikes. He was organized, friendly, and the most wonderful personal chef you could ask for. Our family already decided that the next time we do this, he will be the first person we contact!!!!! He left the kitchen cleaner than it was before and our bellies VERY happy!!!! THANK YOU ROCCO!

Sat was very attentive in creating a personalized menu for me and my girlfriend based on a short call about our dietary needs. His background in nutrition was very helpful here! Unfortunately we had to cancel on short notice so we did not get to try the meal - but Sat was very understanding, and we will definitely be hiring him for future personal chef needs.
I hosted a 50th birthday dinner at our home last night form my wife and 12 of her close girl friends. Senorita Gourmet Andrea Gray catered a Mexican themed dinner for us and did an outstanding job. The ladies absolutely loved it and my wife could not have been more pleased with her birthday dinner. Thank you Andrea. We interviewed three other private chefs for our dinner before deciding to go with Andrea. She was the most professional, the most responsive, and by far the most creative. Of course we wanted great food (Andrea can deliver that), but we were also looking for something unique and creative, without being stiff and formal. Enter Andrea, with her Mexican themed dinner complete with her own plates, glasses and table decorations. Fun, Festive, and Uniquely Fresh! As for the food and drink. Key highlights were the Raspberry Mojitos, Avocado Soup, Quiche de Calebazita, and Mexican Corn Cake. I highly recommend the Una Senorita Gourmet.
Having worked with a few different chefs, with varying results, I can enthusiastically recommend Chet Chase! From start to finish, working with him was a pleasure. Prior to my event, Chet proactively responded to my requests, suggesting options, working with my budget and numbers - and adjusting the menu when my numbers changed. During my event, Chet and his assistants were thorough, on-time, organized, adding an item on the fly, and provided a seamless experience. And something I have not seen from other chefs - clean, stocked with their own cleaning supplies, and left the kitchen as clean as it ever was. I will definitely be using Chet Chase for my next event!
Sean did an outstanding job for my dinner party of 4. I have never hired a personal chef before using Thumbtack and it has always been on my bucket list. This was the perfect experience and such a great alternative to a dinner out at a restaurant with friends! As for the chef-I highly recommend Sean. He provided me with several dining options with local fresh ingredients and was able to accommodate dietary restrictions. Above all, he was such a pleasure to be around! I can't wait until my next dinner with Chef Sean.
My husband forgot to tell me he had agreed to host a cocktail party for 40 guest only 8 days away. When I talked to Graham he said he was available and within a day he had a menu and some suggestions about the bar.Graham arrived at our apartment in S.F. 2 hours before the event and just made everything so easy and and gracious that the party seemed like it had been planned way in advance. Graham served small bites of very tasty canapes and wonderful french style sliders that satisfied everyone. The whole evening was a success from set up to clean up and I was able to enjoy being the hostess and not worry about anything. Graham makes eating good food a total joy and I look forward to catering future parties with him as the Chef. Carole

Rose Johnson Catering was my party partner for our son’s engagement celebration last weekend in Orinda. The party was a huge success, and Rose and her team deserve much credit for the success. Rose responded to my Thumbtack inquiry with a prompt, thorough, and reasonable bid. However, after viewing her beautiful website, I replied to Rose that while I personally thought her menus were perfection, my son had specified that he did not want the food for his party to be “too fancy.” I told Rose the party would be a casual afternoon affair on our deck and I feared her culinary talents would be wasted on my son and my husband. Rose persevered, pointing out in her reply that she could do a barbecue with a southwestern flavor. The food need not be "fancy," she observed, but it should be tasty. And she sent me a custom menu that my son, his fiancée, my sisters, my husband and I all proclaimed perfect, including seared medium rare tri-tip of beef with chimichurri sauce, grilled cilantro chicken with tortillas, chipotle laced potato salad, and Mexican rice, bean, and corn salad. But Rose did not stop with sending me the menu; she said she would use my kitchen and grill on my deck, ensuring the food would be fresh as well as tasty. And after I hired her, she came to my home to check out my kitchen, my deck, and my grill and advised me on renting and setting up dining rounds and serving tables, as well as how to ensure good traffic flow for 50 guests. Rose is a real party expert, and I am not, so her advice was very much appreciated. The day of the party, Rose, Floricel and Esteban arrived a full two hours early and took charge. I hired Rose Johnson Catering for the food, which they delivered beautifully. As it turned out, they helped with the entire party, going above and beyond in many instances and showing poise and flexibility in the face of surprises, like my son’s decision to give a speech and set off a round of champagne toasts before dessert. Rose poured the champagne herself. Several guests asked me during the party: Who catered this? Who is your caterer? I happily provided several referrals to Rose Johnson Catering. Guest comments about the food were very positive: Mike: “The tri-tip was great.” Helen: “The grilled chicken was fabulous.” Kay: “I loved the potato salad. And the guacamole was wonderful.” Liz: “So nice to have so many dishes gluten-free.” Cindy: “The brownies were amazing. I told them so.” Bill: “Those parfaits were a big hit.” Matt: “Great food! Great service!” There was plenty of food for 50 guests, even with 1/3 of them being hungry 20-something friends of my son’s from high school and college. We even had leftovers, which Rose packed up and left in my refrigerator, along with leaving my kitchen cleaner than she found it. My husband, son, future daughter-in-law and I made a brunch of the leftovers the next day, sharing the delicious food and happy memories of a wonderful party. Best of all, this was the first party I’ve ever hosted where I had a great time myself. I don’t think I’ll have another big party again without booking Rose Johnson Catering!

Chef Anicette was absolutely fantastic! She created a unique and delicious menu for an in-home party using many of her original recipes which included pizettas, salad, crab fettuccine, chicken Parmesan and bananas foster. She was exceptionally responsive to all my requests and kept in close contact throughout the planning process. Her rates were much better than I had anticipated they would be and were worth every penny. Everyone at our party agreed that it was one of the best meals they had ever enjoyed. Chef Anicette has superb training and amazing talent. I will definitely be using her services in the future and have already suggested her to other friends and family members who are searching for catering services. 10/10 recommendation!
We had a fantastic evening of cooking, eating and conversation with Chef Traci as well as a cozy night of sleep and a delicious assortment of goodies for breakfast! How could you go wrong? My parents bought an experience with Chef Traci for me for Christmas. My best friend and I (who both love to cook) went for the overnight experience. It was easy to book our evening and we received info about what we would be cooking and what we might want to bring along. Traci was ready for us right on time and welcomed us into her home which is basically a Bed and Breakfast through AirBnB with all delicious, wholesome treats made in house. There was a welcome brownie, which I may have eaten before we started cooking...possibly. After we settled in, Traci got us started cooking a fantastic chicken Tagine, plus two other courses. She’s very relaxed and down to earth, providing direction without micromanaging. She did give me some good tips to improve my chopping! Then we abandoned our aprons and enjoyed being served the fruits of our labors. The tagine was To. Die. For. Good. We then tucked into one of the cozy, clean, well-appointed AirBnB rooms and slept soundly. The breakfast spread was serve-yourself and there were so many options! I had one of each, naturally. As you can tell, we had a great experience. I would say everything about the experience was delicious, hearty, cozy, without an ounce of pretense. Those looking for a shiny Sur La Table class and a night at the Four Seasons should look elsewhere. However, those who want to have a classic cooking experience and a cozy, like-home-but-better getaway, you’re in the right place. It’s almost like cooking with your aunt, if your aunt was a professional chef, served you all three courses and did all the cleaning ;) oh and I went home with almost a week of leftovers! Chef Eileen was the greatest! This was a first time experience for us, hiring a personal chef for a small group of 8. It was a bachelorette party and the best touch to start an otherwise amazing weekend. Chef Eileen was professional, extremely sweet and most of all our 4 course dinner was delicious! Chef Sophie did a birthday dinner party for 6 in San Francisco and was a complete gem! She always got back to me quickly, worked with me regarding guest dietary restrictions and created a delicious menu that everyone enjoyed - AND was fun addition to the party. I'd fully recommend her.
I had a great experience hiring Jon for my New Year's party. He arrived on time and quickly prepared a round of every dish while the guests were coming, so that it was ready at the time that everyone was there. As the food was eaten, he and Amanda presented more, so no dish was ever empty. I found his work of excellent quality, and he was very personable and friendly. My New Year's party was a success because of Chef Jon Avalos. Highly recommended!
GREAT SERVICE We got married yesterday and had to post a review immediately because Affordable Chef was so great! Chef Mark was punctual in replying to my questions before the big day, which, as an out-of-town bride, was very reassuring! At the last minute, Chef Mark was unable to attend the reception, but his on-site chef made delicious food, and the staff were phenomenal! There was one staff member in particular who took an interest in my Husband and I. She told us that we were her "celebrities for the day," made sure we ate appetizers before we walked in, escorted us to the buffet first, and was constantly checking on our drinks. She also took an interest in our families, leading many people to tell us how amazing she was! The bartender Chef Mark sent was also lovely, knew her stuff, and made our signature cocktails perfectly! All in all, a great experience and a company we would trust our next big event to!

I have attended three of Chef Sacha's pop-up dinners and all three occasions were wonderful. His style is playful and creative, and his ability to balance multiple textures is keen -all the while maintaining clean, clear flavors. His knowledge of wines is also impressive!
