I needed to remove security bars on a window and that means removing eight security one-way screws. This is my first using Thumbtack and everything very well. Patrick got the job done. He texted to say he was ten minutes away. He was hardworking, patient and accommodating. He answered all of the questions I had. It was great working with him. I manage a few properties and have worked with a lot of handymen and contractors. Patrick is definitely on my call back list. Thanks Patrick! Thanks Thumbtack.
The morning following logging off, my screen would not come up. Pete carefully and thoughtfully guided me through the remote procedure he was to use to restore my computer. He did that and removed malware to ensure the computer ran at optimum. He also made a folder for my desktop clutter, so start up is quicker. He showed me a few tricks I will be able to use in the future. Thanks Pete!
Shaun showed up a half hour after I talked to him. Removed and installed the garbage disposal and was very respectful. Best part is he's honest and not trying to get over on the customer. Very reasonable price literally halfthe phalf theen what the ten other estimates I received
Will, the tech, spent time running anti virus and setting the bios on my computer. He did a great job. Thanks, Will. Marcia
Ron was efficient and very professional. He was able to clean my laptop of viruses and return the laptop to me within 2 days. I would definately recommend him and I will use his services again.
Sean fixed my mother's computer. She had clicked on something she shouldn't have and had a really bad virus infiltrate her computer. He also removed some additional malware. Sean was also kind enough to install a virus protection program to her computer as well. He was very patient and kind throughout the entire process. I really appreciated his professionalism.
Bodhi was great. He set up my new Mac mini and transferred all the data from my seriously wounded macbook. He also installed anti virus software on the new computer as well as my husbands macbook. Came to our house to set it up. He was on time and very quick and it was extremely reasonable in price. There were a couple of glitches after set up which he took care of right away. We are very pleased with Macdaddy and would use him again.
Performed basic duties, virus check, system clean, etc. Mostly pc work and limited mac work performed. Suggested free software or virus checks and disk analysis. Satisfied.
Workstation Win8 computer regularly bogging to a halt. We have RAID setup and multiple backups and virus protections, etc. Mr Casey quickly, politely on time and in time, analysed, diagnosed, prognosed, and operated. System now working xip-xing.
Review of Its Bihn Repaired: I needed a cooling fan replacement on a ThinkPad T420S. This particular ThinkPad was a top-of-the-line version with its own video card and advanced fast processor. The cooling fan on the ThinkPad had been failing on occasion for several years and and finally it was giving signs of extreme aging and failure. Mr. Bihn Vu is a one-man repair operation which he operates either from his home or by visiting and making computer repairs at homes. When I brought the ThinkPad into Its Bihn Repaired, I expected to have the fan replaced, as it was giving off a grinding sound that suggested that the rotating mechanism was in the process of suffering a major failure. Mr. Vu disassembled the computer and examined the fan. He found that the fan was a different variant from other fans will be had worked on, so he could not try a proven solution of popping a cap at the top of the fan spindle. The solution he was thinking of was simply popping the cap and putting some 10W-30 motor oil into the spindle. His past experience allowed him to routinely solve this problem by this clever mechanism. Since it was clear that a new fan would be needed to replace the old fan, he asked me if I would be comfortable with him attempting to drill through the top of the fan at the spindle location to see if he could find a way of inserting the motor oil into this model of fan. I had observed him take the machine apart with very great skill and competence, so I agreed to his suggestion figuring that the worst thing that would happen is the repair would not work. To my amazement, and I think to Mr. Vus amazement as well, his attempt to fix the fan worked. Once he had very carefully drilled a hole, at each point being very careful to remove debris as the hole was being drilled, he took a needle and used it to drip small amounts of oil into the fan spindle. Not only did the fan work after this repair, but it is essentially completely silent, solving a noise problem that many owners of the T420S complain about on Lenovo blogs. It is now obvious that this persistent and annoying problem could simply be solved by Lenovo by making sure that the fans they put in their laptop computers have a proper dose of oil before they are installed. I am on the faculty of MIT and I am very lucky to work with young people who are highly talented. I was immensely impressed by Mr. Vus ingenuity, confidence, and his fastidiousness as he worked on my machine. Every piece of tape, covering, seal, and screw were placed as exactly as he found them. He wiped down all the relevant surfaces with alcohol to assure no contamination, and he never appeared as if he did not know exactly what he was doing. As a person who has himself on occasion worked on potentially sensitive pieces of equipment, I know that minor oversights can cause unexpected performance problems. It was quite clear to me that Mr. Vu knows this as well The machine booted flawlessly after he finished, and the only way I am assured that the fan is now working is by placing my hand next to the fan vent to assure myself that the fan is spinning quietly rather than not working. Although at some level this repair was not demanding, I am certain that if I had taken the machine to another vendor, they would have replaced the fan and it would have cost me well over $200 for a positive but pedestrian result. Mr. Vus solution and ingenuity cost only $65, and I am now satisfied that I know someone I can completely trust with any laptop repair that I need. I recommend Mr. Vu highly. Theodore A. Postol
My laptop fan stopped working and the casing of my laptop was coming apart around the hinges. After looking at several shops in the area, I found Rafael on Thumbtack. He notified me that he would be willing to come to my apartment and diagnose the problem for no charge. He was very patient and informative as he opened up the computer to further investigate my issues. Once the computer was opened we discovered that a piece of the casing was stuck in the fan and that part was easily fixed by removing it. As for the casing, he let me know that I would need to replace it and gave me several tips for finding the best prices for a replacement case. Once the case was ordered, he returned, assembled the computer back together, and everything is running smoothly once again. I found Rafael to be very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about electronics. He was also quick to respond to any questions that I had via text message about my laptop. I highly recommend his services to anyone with computer issues and will go to him if any issues arise in the future.
Todd is very attentive to detail, and a delight to work with. He is knowledgeable in IT and VOIP. He can fix virus issues, broken screens, and any other IT related issue.
Great service from a friendly man. He was incredibly flexible with time and went above and beyond to guarantee my computer's functionality was completely restored. Helped remove viruses, retrieve data, and restore overall functionality.
If your looking to have your laptop repaired, iTechChimp is an excellent choice! I have a 7 year old Dell XPS Studio 1647 Laptop that I had customized with a failed hard drive. And, yes, I inexplicably let it over heat (my bad)! Circumstance such as they are, I contacted several local repair shops (experts?), as well as, Dell. I would have stuck with Dell service; however, my service warranty expired, and, frankly ... there current customer service is lacking in communication--which goes without saying (humm). After a week of deliberation, I chose iTechChimp. The determining factor was their technician, Sam, for his expertise and communication skills. I experienced a most pleasant heuristic process in concluding repairs. Needless to say, my laptop was repaired the same day I brought it in, having replaced my hard drive, completion of OS, and driver installations ... all within 3 hours. After several days had past, I ran into an issue with an inadvertent download of a serious spyware that propagated to no end ... scary and very stupid! Called Sam, he suggested Hitman Pro and SuperAntiSpyware, Further research led me to install a Junkware Removal Tool and the current version of Malwarebytes ... what a relief and lesson learned! Bottomline, (in my former line of business), the truth is in the numbers -- iTechChimp's repair cost were more than reasonable and their service stellar. Most of all, Sam's competence and proficiency inspired me to write this review. Thank you Sam! I highly recommend iTechChimp with one advise, when utilizing GPS direction, ensure you type in Belmont address (SMILE).
Brian is very tech savvy and helpful, not to mention easy to work with. My computer is now virus free and faster than ever, and I'll be giving him a call if I ever have any more troubles. thanks for the help, I'm going to recommend you to all of my friends!
When I had a virus on my computer, he explained to me multiple ways that viruses can get onto a computer and how to prevent that from happening. He got rid of the virus I had and installed different anti-virus programs that would protect my computer in the future. All in all I had a very good experience working with him and my computer is still protected!
I highly recommend QPSTechs. His price was less than half of Apple's price to replace a shattered screen on our iphone. His communication via text was quick. He is conveniently located just off the freeway and across from a large shopping center. We dropped off the phone, went to dinner and returned an hour later to pick it up--good as new. I would contact him again for any future computer or phone repair or virus problems. Also glad to have discovered thumbtack.com. Will also return for future service needs. Michele
Initially, my computer had over 100 viruses and I had no idea what to do. Brian was able to determine the problem immediately. He was very helpful, diligent, honest, and patient. He offered me many possible solutions to resolve my computer problem and recommended the best option. I trusted him and am very happy with the work he has done to my computer.
