With the recent rain we have had, we noticed a leak in our living room. Alex Bello with Statewide Roofing was the first to respond to my request and quickly arrived to our home for a repair estimate. Our roof is 22 years old, so I feared that the entire roof was due for replacement. To my surprise and Alex's honesty, he did a thorough analysis of the work needed to fix the leak and did not recommend that the roof be replaced at this time. He said it had another good 5 years in it. What a relief. He provided pictures of the damaged areas of the roof as well as the vent pipes, which also needed replacing. His estimate was very fair. He also cleaned my gutters while up there for a very reasonable rate. He and his crew arrived the next day to complete the work. They were very efficient and thoroughly cleaned the work area after completion. We have had a fair amount of rain since the repair. No leaks. Alex performs quality work at a reasonable price. I am a customer for life. In fact, I plan to have him come back and install gutter guards soon as well as have him paint my home. He shared with me several photos of the quality of work he and his team perform. I highly recommend them.

I needed to have an off-center duct moved in order to vent our microwave to the outside. Code would not permit us to use flex duct or semi-rigid duct. Their team came out on time, evaluated several options, and then made the necessary modifications. They also stayed true to their quote. Honest folks without the "upcharging". I have included the before and after pictures.

They were so responsive. Terry came out and did the quote and gave me a reasonable price on Thursday. His crew came and fixed the roof and did an exterior inspection on Friday. He wanted to make sure it was finished before it rained Saturday. Amazing. Will work with him again.

My static vent come off the roof from the heavy winds we had. He came right out the next day to give an estimate and he was ready to work. He installed the vent back on for us. He also checked the attic to see if there was any water damage from the rain. He removed some of the wet installation for us as well. It didn't take him no time to do. And price was reasonable. He will be our main contact for any other roof issues!

Turns out I didn't need a chimney cleaning so instead of the $185 to clean and inspect, I just paid $90 for the inspection. So, punctual, honest, professional. May hire them to install chimney cap at some point.

Micah responded quickly and on the same day I submitted a request to assess what I thought was a leak from the roof. He went into the attic 2X, checked thoroughly, and concluded that it wasn't the roof, but a possible HVAC problem. He was very friendly and professional. If I ever have any roof problems, I'll be sure to call this company again.

Couldn’t be any happier with my selection! Josh came out and thoroughly inspected the attic and roof. Took pics and videos of problem areas. He immediately noticed 3 squirrels in my attic and set traps. Explained my options for sealing gaps/entry points and quoted me a very reasonable price. I decided to go with whole home shielding to prevent any potential new entry points. Josh and his brother came out as scheduled and completed project as promised. I especially liked that he took pics along the way. The workmanship was top-notch and I was very pleased. These guys were professional yet personable and a pleasure to interact with. I would definitely use them again in the future and recommend to family and friends.

Antonio and his team are true professionals. They care about their clients, and go above and beyond to deliver an amazing experience. From the initial meeting to the finished product, Equality Roofing will be there for you. Installing a Roof System is not something to put in the wrong hands. So many things can go bad, and those low quality Roofers always seem to disappear when you need them most. Antonio and his entire staff have the knowledge and experience to provide a Fully Warranted Roof System using the highest quality materials and installers. I only gave them 5 stars because 10 wasn't an option.

So thankful for Frank and his team. Late Sunday 7/29 we found a gaping hole in our roof/attic due to knocked over old satellite dish installed from previous owners. I knew the bad rains were coming yesterday and today and had to find some one desperately. He was the first person I reached out to and his crew fixed it yesterday morning. I am so thankful there are no words. Highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you so much Frank's Roofing Solutions.

Sam Rutherford is an experienced professional contractor He demonstrates concern for the customer by providing quality product and installation while listening to the needs of the customer. He clearly explained all aspects of the project before it began. In trying to find the correct color shingles Sam even brought sample bundles and placed them on the roof. The roofing project was completed on time and there were no unsuspected extra costs. I would highly recommend selecting SGR Contracting for your next project

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
