"I had the pleasure of not only training with Sam, but also working alongside him at the Sachs Recreation Center (SRC). For the better part of a year I would watch Sam train his clients. During this time, I was working out 5-7 days a week, sometimes twice a day. I was getting results but not really the ones I wanted. Sam then introduced me to the world of kettlebell training, and I haven’t looked back. My goals were to lose weight, get stronger, become more flexible, and of course learn the fundamentals of kettlebell training.
In less than 6 months my body composition has totally changed. I went from a bulky 200 lbs. to a leaner 185 lbs. (and still going down). My pull-up max has more than doubled since training with Sam. Among other exercises, Sam corrected my form on the dead-lift and squat. The weight I’ve been able to use for those have since gone up significantly. I think the most exciting part of my progress is that I’ve actually been working out about half as much as I was before. Sam would always tell me “train smarter, not harder.” And that mentality has stuck with me.
Although my flexibility is still not where I’d like it to be, I’ve made a tremendous amount of progress with Sam. He actually taught me how to stretch, warm up, and foam roll more efficiently than a decade worth of soccer coaches has been able to.
The kettlebell training is by far my favorite thing Sam has taught me. Kettlebells allow me to blend my aerobic and anaerobic training more fluidly. In fact, I enjoyed the kettlebells so much that I’ll be investing in my own now that I’m away at college. I think most of my weight loss came from the kettlebell circuits and the diet advice Sam has given me.
Sam is the only trainer I would recommend to anyone in the area. Not only is he a pleasure to be around but he has extensive knowledge in all things pertaining to your body. He will not just tell you what to do and how to do it, but why it’s important at an anatomical and physiological level. Sam helped me reach my health and fitness goals and set me on the right path to improve even more. I know he would love to help you reach your goals as well, you just got to let him!"
