nothing to recommend but just to share my story. --- Fact evaluation: Progress tracked by Matt Johnson Trained by Marcin Grobelny (instagram- @grobelnym) Training Time - October 2016- June 2017 Training Intensity- three hour per week Aim- slim down, lose fat and lose weight. Life Outside Training (when I do not have session with trainer)- cardio (cardio), and 17 running races plus 1 bike event in 9 months (how I spent my lazy weekends). Life Outside Training (reality)- a Mon- Fri job that sit in front of the computer 9-6, sometimes weekday OT till late night, or might take my weekend too. Results- more toned up, people no longer say "it seems like you are a little bit less chubby" but "you look slimmer", ~5% fat ratio down. --- This week marks my last week with Chitown Trainer, it has been a very very great 9 month with Marcin that I did not only learn about workout move but also the psychological, health and nutrition, workout and recovery chapters that is totally a bonus to me. Marcin has been my very first friend in town and probably one that I meet most frequent out of all these time. I learnt about his education, and I believe his academic background and body building experience has made him a very unique trainer because he had been educating me in a all-rounded manner. As time goes, I started to learn more about my body and my mindset, as well as the key to stay consistent and balance through out my days. I eventually train harder and more frequent; and be more honest with myself about the diet and I have dropped my fat ratio through all the months. One thing that I did not expect to happen, is that I actually improved from 32min/5k to 27 min/5k in less than 4 months' time. I did not pick up any running training, I enjoy food fest in the new year, I had deep dish and (quite a lot of) cheat meal, but still, a 5 minute improvement in such a short distant run are actually all from the hard work from weight lifting with Marcin. I used to fear leg day as I started because lower body training back in middle school basketball time has bulk me up so much. However, now I start to love my leg days more -- and as a result I am getting a little big addictive with running as well, which I used to think it is super-very-extremely-so-boring. With the encouragement form Marcin, I actually run more than I thought I would. Counting back the weeks, I have nailed 18 city-events in 9 month's time. Given that Chicago is not my home city, this is definitely a life time PR. Meeting Marcin has definitely become a motion to get up early as we train at 0530 most of the time. As I am leaving Chicago, I would look forward to meet Marcin again with a more toned body to show off how I am able to apply things I learnt from him and all the hard work I put in even I am out of the country. --- Thank you Marcin!! :)
I started training with Chad in August of 2016 until July of 2017, and let’s just say that it made a difference. A little background about why I decided to get a trainer: I got engaged in July of 2016 and my fiancée and I decided to have our wedding the following year (in July). I noticed that I wasn’t making the best choices for a healthy life (I.e. not exercising enough, bad food choices, not doing strength training, etc). I wanted to look good for my wedding. So I made the decision to change my lifestyle to being a little bit more active and making better choices when it came to food. From the beginning, Chad asked me what my goals were and made sure I was successful in achieving them. His prices are not that bad either and are pretty affordable. After a a couple of months of training with him, my family, friends, fiancé, and including myself noticed how I have lost weight and was a bit more toned. I was happy for the first time in years with my body. Before having a trainer, I would only do cardio. However, after I began training with Chad, he taught me that cardio wasn’t the only thing I should be doing. He taught me strength training with the weights and with my body. I definitely learned a lot a with him. In the beginning it was hard and there were a couple of times I wanted to quit because I wasn’t seeing results right away. However, I kept on going because I knew it would take time. I’m glad I did because I noticed changes in myself. I noticed I had more energy and stregnth. I was sad that I had to stop having Chad as my trainer (I moved down to Florida in August). I have to say that after moving down here, I still incorporate many of the things Chad taught me about stregnth training and cardio into my workouts. If you are looking for a trainer, I would definitely hire Chad!
I was doing high intensity interval training, which caused serious injuries to my knee and shoulder, so I wanted to get back into full body resistance training and cardio. After reading reviews, I chose Dan. It has been a wonderful ride ever since. He's very smart, thoughtful, and incredibly enthusiastic. He spends a great deal of time tracking your numbers so that there is genuine accountability as to the extent of your progress. After I saw the orthopedist about my shoulder and went to physical therapy, Dan took the recommended physical therapy exercises and integrated them directly into my workouts. Very creative; very cool. He's easy to communicate by text or email, and incredibly responsive. He's also very knowledgeable about the Chicago performing arts scene, which I enjoy discussing with him. Bottom line: I'm getting stronger; feeling more fit and confident; and not getting injured. Dan's been great.
As a 36 year old woman, I had always been petite and rarely ever exercised. Then seemingly overnight: Boom! I looked up and had packed on 30 pounds. I tried various yo-yo diets like Atkins and Keto to try to get the weight off with only temporary results. I finally decided I needed a professional and lifestyle change. When I met with Raven, I was clear about everything I wanted: Fat loss, lean muscle and to keep my feminine curves. I even showed him a picture of the exact body style I wanted to build together. Two months in, I have dropped two inches from my waist, the appearance of my jelly (cellulite) is starting to improve, and I can see muscle peeking through in my arms and legs. In addition, I am more disciplined with my food choices and now look forward to working up a sweat in the gym. If you are serious and want to partner with a confident and professional trainer who will hold you accountable, Raven is your man. He will provide you with the training, tools and knowledge to help achieve your fitness goals. The work is up to you.
Andrew got me through some nagging weight loss plateaus and walls when we first started, I had lost over 35 pounds on my own and I was getting frustrated at the constant walls. I signed up for a consultation with him after, and than I quickly signed up for a set of sessions. I'm reasonably sure I've been signed with him for over a year and a half now, and I am very pleased with the progress I get. I had a lot of difficulty even approaching the free-weight section of the gym before him due to insecurities and lack of knowledge of how best to use the weights - having a personal trainer to show me what to do in that area honestly opened a new world for me there. Since then, I feel ten times more comfortable in the gym and knowledgeable about how to use the machines and the free weights to my advantage. He's very personable and while he's obviously not doing this for free, I do feel like he cares enough about what he does to value me as person moreso than just a dollar sign. He asks questions about my diet and routine and how my progress is going, and just does seem to care that you're getting the results you want versus just locking you in a contract and counting the minutes 'till the next session. He keeps everything fresh each routine - we rarely do the same thing twice. Better yet, I find myself incorporating the things we do outside of sessions during my own gym time. He pushes me and I've been able to do things during our sessions (3 sets of 30 second push-ups in a super set for example) that I never thought I'd be able to do before. He knows that I want to be pushed and kicks my ass (although I'm certain that this cannot be the same mindset for his other clients - I've made it clear that I want to get stronger and progress and he has paid attention). If anything could've been better, it was that when I first signed up, he essentially had me at square one when I had made progress on my own pretty well. It was a bit frustrating to begin with, doing lighter things, but once he got a firm grasp on what I was capable of doing, he kept the progression natural and now has and is continuing to up the intensity of workouts. There were also a couple times early on when I felt he may have been making this up as he went along, but I chalk those up to still getting a feel for my strength and fitness level. I won't sign up with anyone else. If a cheaper alternative comes by, I won't sign up with them. He's affordable and knows my strength level and where I'm at, and I feel like anyone that's seriously committed to losing weight and getting fit could benefit from signing with him.
Josh is super attentive and very knowledgeable. Each workout is intense and specific to my fitness goals and results are noticeable. This is the best trainer I have had!
I cannot say enough awesome things about my trainer. I've been training with Chaun for almost two years now. He is professional, accommodating, extremely knowledgeable and flexible. Always gives me a chance to make up my session when I cannot make it. Each work out is different and always hits the perfect level of intensity. You will definitely loose weight and get in shape once you decide to work out with Chaun!
I worked out with Nick for a summer while I was training for a half-marathon. He had a great mix of HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts that we did each week, which always kicked my butt. I saw great results and it was definitely worth it having a personal trainer who pushes you and motivates you to be better. He'll always provide modifications for different workouts, depending on your fitness level and what you're capable of. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Tony is an amazing PT. He is knowledgable and very intuitive when it comes to his client's needs and abilities. He is able to motivate you rather than push you to get the results. Workouts are intense and fun at the same time and never boring. Tony's advise regarding client's nutrition and eating habits is just a part of his complex approach to client's training. Results I was able to achieve since starting with Tony are amazing. It's not just weight loss but a total overhaul of my body, my eating habits and partially of my whole lifestyle and none of it felt forced or too radical. After being able to observe other PTs with their clients and their results in the same period of time I'm absolutely sure that Tony is one of the best PTs out there. I highly recommend Tony to anyone who has no experience with fitness (like myself) or if you are already a gym rat that's looking to take it to the next level.
I love that they focus on the total health experience, exercise, nutrition, etc. Also, I'm really pleased as to how they personalize the program to meet my specific fitness level. So far, so good!
Jane and Matt are both great to work with. We alternate between both because they both have different personalities as well as workouts and it's great to mix it up and keep it fresh. Gentle intensity (GI) is right on. We are entering our third month with them - and still loving the workouts and the results. Highly recommend them.
I had my first session with Alex and thoroughly recommend him - I have signed up for 10 more! He is very good at explaining every movement and correcting postures, and was making sure I was comfortable and didn't feel any dangerous pain during the workout. I really enjoyed the mix of yoga, strength, weights and TRX and how we went up in intensity. I am looking forward to the next session!
Chris and the rest of his trainers are amazing! I have been training at Reactive since 2010 and couldn't be happier with the progress I've made there. His staff is extremely knowledgeable and work so hard to help you accomplish your goals, whether they are fitness, diet or lifestyle related. Over the years, my goals have varied from speed and agility to gaining muscle to maintaining a high fitness level; Reactive has helped me succeed and I could not be more grateful!
I trained with Phyllis for years. I was reaching 300 lbs and having trouble even moving when she began training me. She had the knowledge to adapt exercises to my (lack of) fitness level, and the patience to work with me slowly, increasing the intensity as I was able. She has been there for me through all of my fitness and health struggles and is always so upbeat and encouraging that it makes me want to go to a workout with her, even though I hate exercising. She finds something you like and builds on that. I would recommend Phyllis to anyone, no matter if you are just starting to work out, or if you are in great shape, but need some guidance and direction or a challenge. She really knows her stuff and can work with clients at any level of fitness.
I began going to Edge Fitness and Performance in 2014 and would like to say this is one unique gym. The workouts at first may seem intense but they fly by, before you know it the hour is up and you’ve gotten in an amazing cardio workout. You cannot get the same workout in a regular gym. Here you receive a personal trainer with every class and can attend a few days a week up to unlimited classes, depending on your package, for much less than hiring on a standard personal trainer. The environment is very friendly and up beet. The staff and owner are all so knowledgeable and really care about their clients and helping them in meeting their goals. They know each individual member by name and everyone is treated like family. The atmosphere is very positive, energetic and motivating. Each year the gym holds an award ceremony and dinner for the members. Members are recognized for their hard work and accomplishments which again hits more on a personal level where as you would not receive acknowledgements like this at a regular gym. I would highly recommend Edge Fitness and Performance to others.
Jessica is a wonderful personal trainer. I appreciate that she comes to my home and is flexible with my busy work schedule. She incorporates weight training, yoga, Pilates, and high and low intensity cardio. She pushes me appropriately and always seems to know just what I need!
I have worked with Steve on and off for the past 3 years. Having been a dancer my while life, I wanted to train with someone who understood the importance of core balance, along with being able to push someone to achieve their goals through a variety of different exercises you really don't see others using in the gym. He made our workouts fun, but focused and intense. I sought out a trainer because I had put on a lot of weight since I stopped dancing regularly as I did when I was in college. I ballooned up to over 170lbs and decided I wanted to take back my health, and look like I did when I was in college. I sought out and found the right trainer. Steve is exceptional at what he does, and I would highly recommend him. He kept me strict on the nutrition aspect, and always had me tell him what I was planning on eating after workouts, and what I had been eating since I last saw him. This really kept on my toes and made me accountable in what I do when I'm not training with him. After all the hard work, I lost over 30lbs and hit my weight and fitness goals!! I definitely recommend Steve to help you do the same!
I've only known Lindsay for a few weeks and I already love working with her! She's super friendly and training with her is actually fun. Her workouts are perfect for me, just the right amount of intensity but not too exhausting. She's super flexible and is always willing to go the extra mile for me as a new client. She understands that my weight loss journey is a LIFESTYLE change, so she's very reasonable with workouts and dieting. And she's always happy to help if I have questions outside of our sessions. She eases you in to workouts, customizing them based on your needs. Most importantly, she keeps you MOTIVATED. When you need that little push, she's always there for you. My Personal Trainer was Christopher. I am in Chicago for an assignment with work. I have never had a personal trainer before, figured it was something i didnt need. I then researched trainers and came across Chris page on Craigslist. I read his add and seen his transformation he made which inspired me to want someone like that who personally made that huge change of being obese to fit. I am average build and was looking to be more fit. Chris offered a complementary workout which immediately sold me. I purchased a 5 week session of 3 days a week which Chris was able to offer not only a physical change but also mental as well as offered dietary advise and consultation. I was so please with his services and his ability to connect with someone on a training level and also build a friendship at the same time that I recommended a co worker. My co worker joined and began to train with me during my time frame which made it even better. I wish I could find a trainer in my home state of NY, however that would be asking to clone someone because that level of commitment, honesty, motivation and share basic humanity comes very rare. My wife and I have been training with Sam for over three years. He has proven to be a very knowledgable person in regards to health and fitness. He has successfully taught us both to train with kettle bells. He is a great teacher! We both train with kettle bells at an advanced level and it has been a great evolution. He is very in tune with our training goals and mindful of our individual needs. I have felt I have been given a great gift in finding Sam and being able to learn kettle bell training. My wife trains with Sam twice a week and I try to train with him monthly as my busy schedule won't allow more time. The beauty of kettle bells is that I am able to do high intensity workouts in my own home without an investment of a great deal of time. My training with Sam has allowed me to transform my body as I enter my 40's. I would consider myself a kettle bell trainer and only because of my time and learning from Sam. He has also helped me tremendously by teaching me stretching techniques that help to keep me healthy. We highly recommend Sam to any prospective client.
