Bob does a great job choosing music that the kids are interested in learning in both Piano and Guitar. They learn fun songs along with the necessary scales which keeps them better focused.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
I have been taking lessons from Dan for more than two and a half years and it something I look forward to every week. Aside from being a great teacher, he is fun, understanding and very talented. He takes the time to help you understand the structure of what you are learning without over burdening you with theory. He is also really interested in making sure you are enjoying playing (that is the point) and getting out of it exactly what you want. Any time I have a request (no matter how absurd) of a song to learn, Dan takes the time to find a good arrangement at my level and teaches it to me. It is really nice having that flexibility and personal investment in my lessons. In just two and a half years, I went from playing no to guitar to be comfortable jamming with my friends while also developing my classical guitar playing skills. His musical interests are vast; from beautiful classical pieces to classic rock solos to movie soundtracks (he loves Storybook Love from the Princess Bride). This blend of genres and talents truly sets Dan a part and I would encourage anyone looking to finally learn the guitar to sign up for lessons with Dan.
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
I took guitar lessons with Shane for about 3 or so years and it was such a great experience. After trying many other places that gave lessons, the experience that I had with Shane really made it easy, fun, and enjoyable. I learned A TON while still getting to pick the style of music I like. I was able to explore different types of music and different artists that Shane introduced to me, some of which are among my favorites today. Choosing Shane at TriTone music was a great decision that made for a fantastic learning experience for me.
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Irwin for the past few months. She loves it! His affection for children, as well as his expertise is obvious. I would highly recommend him as a guitar instructor!
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.
I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Fran can PLAY, he's got a degree in music, and he makes the lessons a fun exploration of whatever genre takes your fancy. I was an anxious adult novice and my experience with Fran was always great: encouraging, comfortable, and geared to the music and theory of interest to me. I couldn't speak more highly of Fran as a great guitar teacher for both for acoustic and electric for any skill level.
Bob is an amazing guitarist and an oustanding teacher. He is very patient and is extremly good in breaking things down, to make it easier for a beginner. His lessons are very clear and structured. He pays extra care in correcting the techniques and keeping it correct and simple. Learning Guitar from Bob is fun!!
My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
I am a 19-year-old in a community college, giving guitar lessons. I have ten years of guitar experience, and I can teach different chords, techniques, and how to read music.
I am a traveling guitar teacher who has 33 years of experience in playing, touring, recording, and teaching. My course work is designed to be fun and easy to understand.
My name is Brent. I have been playing guitar for 13 years and have had multiple students. I play mostly the blues, rock and folk, but let's play the music you want to play. Your lesson is all about how you want to play and how best to do it. I will provide beginning music theory training as part of our lessons as well. I love teaching and accept beginners of all ages. I am located between Logan Square and Wicker Park in Humbolt Park. I can provide an instrument if needed and am also very willing to travel to you!
In the lessons that I provide, I give useful information on how to practice efficiently and effectively, including guitar trivia that will interest anyone.
We are a collective body of artists. There are eight members, and I am the only musical artist. I teach lessons in guitar, ear training, improvisation and music theory. There is a monthly jam session as well as many exhibitions and occasional art talks.
I offer professional, private lesson plans for students of all ages. Lessons start at $15 per half-hour session and $30 for an hour session. Multiple programs available including online and group lessons. Lessons are available on weekdays, afternoons and evenings by appointment.
My teaching is highly improvisational. I'm going to create a curriculum based around what you want to get out of the lessons. Every person is different.
I am the kind of teacher who wants you to play what you want to play. I am not going to make you learn to play all of my favorite songs, I want to ask you what songs you want to play and sing so you can have fun while we work on it together.
If you wanna have some fun with learning the guitar and not just learn from some boring teacher, I'm your guy.
