Mark is a stellar photographer and such a wonderful person to work with. I don't think our wedding photgraphs would have come close to what he accomplished, had we picked anyone else. Needless to say, we will be requesting his services for ALL our future family celebrations.

I cannot say enough of good things about Ione. We had her at couple of events, including wedding and baby shower. She is not only talented DJ, face painter and entertainer but also a great person to work with. She came up with list of songs for our wedding day and later helped us with karaoke to entertain guests who stayed late with us. At baby shower she helped us with decorations, balloons and face painting, that made shower more fun. Ione is very reliable, honest and easy to communicate. We are hope she would be available for our future parties.

Mark was great to work with for our wedding reception in Boston! He communicated well via email and phone prior to the event. He was open to our music suggestions, took some requests from our guests, and kept a nice flow throughout the night. Our guests definitely danced and had a good time! He also was great with some last-minute requests and changes to programming just before the wedding day as well.

I chose Jacob for the DJ and Uplighting services at our wedding. Jacob was very helpful, and the meetings before and leading up to the wedding were comfortable and informative. He was diligent in keeping track of all of our requests and very accommodating with some late submissions of songs by our guests. The music was always playing, and the guests were happily dancing. THANK YOU JACOB! I would recommend him to anyone!!!

Jen and her team catered our son's wedding. There were 80 guests. I could write a novel about how perfect Jen made everything, but no one wants to read that much. I will say that my guests commented that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding. The steak and chicken could be cut with a plastic knife, the vegetables fresh, beautiful salad. Everything was presented perfectly. I have no idea how 4 people pulled it off, but they did! If you aren't sure who to hire, I can tell you sincerely that Jen Royle is the one. You will not be disappointed. Do it!!

Justice Gladys is a one woman army. If you want you wedding day to be special look no more. When we requested her to offciate our wedding she helped us with the venue and the food, She even sat with us for to customize the ceremony according to our story. We are from India and she was so creative that she very subtly did a fusion of Hindu and Christian marriage which each and every guest applauded as well. I am very happy and blessed that I chose Gladys to do the wedding and I am sure she is the Best :)

We first met Bob when he photographed our wedding, 16 1/2 years ago! He did a fantastic job then - especially great at candid photos, and made everyone feel comfortable and at ease. We have many beautiful, artistic shots from that day. We had an outdoor ceremony, and indoor reception, and he was comfortable with both settings…even shots on the beach. When looking for someone to take some photos at our older son's Bar Mitzvah, I thought immediately of Bob and tracked him down! He took photos of that day for us, too. Always very professional, great at what he does, and especially great at getting in the "action" and getting that shot. We highly recommend him!

Frank was WONDERFUL to work with - he was able to fill all of our music requests without any issue or hesitation. He helped make our wedding truly a fantastic day, many of our guests raved about him after the wedding and said that they loved his style - he took requests but also knew how to read the room and keep the energy right where we wanted it. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Jeremiah and his team did a truly amazing job! We planned our wedding in Connecticut from half a country away, so we were a little nervous about finding vendors. We met with Jeremiah just once before our wedding, at our engagement session, but he made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. He listened to what we wanted for our wedding photos and accommodated a few special requests we had. We noticed right away that Jeremiah had the personality and work ethic that matched exactly what we wanted in our wedding documentarian. Jeremiah puts his heart into his work. It shows in the results and the kind of person he is. He climbed over water-soaked rocks during our engagement session to get the perfect shot and showed his patience during our post-ceremony family shots – we have a big family. Jeremiah and his team worked quickly to take great portraits of our entire family. Jeremiah, Chef, Nicole and Hayley worked very hard for us and paid special attention to the smallest details. Most importantly, they cared about making our day special and creating photos and video that we will cherish forever. When we think back about our wedding day, we remember them and the incredible work they did. We are so glad that they are the people who documented our wedding. Thank you! - Darla and Justin

Mike had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel at ease, which is notable since we were navigating a personal ceremony in a tight space . He shot exactly what I wanted for the wedding ceremony and reception, worked well with the photographer, and sent me the footage in a timely fashion. It was a pleasure working with him!

Tiffany is an amazing make up artist! She was very professional and quick to respond to messages when I was first inquiring about make up services for a wedding. This past Saturday she came up to Nashua, to apply make up for my wedding to myself, as well as my bridal party. We all received many compliments of how beautiful our make up was. I would definitely recommend hiring Tiffany! Thank you so much for everything!

Robert was fantastic for our special day! He checked in with us a few times before the wedding to make sure all our details were exactly what we wanted for our wedding. On our wedding night, he also continued to check in to see how the night was going. My guests absolutely loved the music he played, and I did not leave the dance floor the whole night!! Couldn’t ask for a better DJ!

Jon is an absolute gem and made my wedding a huge success. He was very organized and professional throughout the planning times and the wedding itself. From the very beginning, Jon was very responsive to my calls and took the time to explain how he would help with the wedding timeline and procession of events. When the wedding day approached, Jon took the time to ask all the necessary questions for music and wedding details (ie. names of people in the ceremony, how to pronounce their names, bouquet toss etc etc) that I would never even remember to plan for! Thanks to him, the whole wedding went very smoothly, from the ceremony to the reception and dances to the very end of the night with the bouquet toss. The dance floor was packed the entire night. I cannot stress how important it is to have someone like Jon at your wedding who keeps track of everything, plays great music so that YOU don't have to worry and can enjoy yourself.

We had our wedding at the New England Aquarium, and the dancefloor was going all night with Brad djing! He arrived early to set up and was so professional with the MC-ing (without a script provided earlier). Brad was great with incorporating our song choices with selections to keep the dance floor going. Definitely a pro DJ that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for large or small venues. He really made our wedding a perfect day!

I am happy with the help I have gotten from Shamia. She has been able to plan my wedding on a very tight budget. I can’t wait to see the final presentation. I think I knew from the start that Shamia was the person that was meant to make my day special.

Dennise did my wedding extravaganza July 2018. She was excellent!!. She came in and got straight to work she listen to what I wanted before hand with prepping and outlines everything didn’t work out the way I intended due to no fault of her own but she made it work for me in magical ways! she understood lighting and poses and different props that made our wedding photos pop!! She has a keen sense of detail and I wouldn’t have picked a better photographer to host my big day🤘🏽 Thanks a million from the Newly wedded Mr & Mrs Thomas

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
