Katie is the BEST. I work out alot and know how to work out. I've been to a few personal trainers or dieticians over the years with no success. What Katie did for me was more important than any workout...she debunked all the myths and fad diets I was utilizing and thus not getting to goal weight. She talked about the sience behind losing weight and applied this to my diet and work outs. I only had that last stubborn 10lbs to lose and did it in less than 6 weeks. I love my life style.....not my diet. Katie taught me it's OK to have a banana or a carb. Try to eat as clean as possible and if you fall off make sure it falls in calorie range. Thus, I never feel deprived. Another important aspect Katie brings to her service is she truly cares about you as a person . She noticed I was beating myself up about my physical appearance and she taught me ways to be more positive with myself. She also taught me ways to deflect those people who try to sabotage your diet. At 40, I made a commitment this year to invest in my health so that I can be around a lot longer for my 3 kids. 2 years removed from knee surgery, with nerve damage in my elbow, and a bit overweight and definitely out of shape, I was struggling to put in the work required to get myself back into good physical condition on my own at my local gym. I was completely lacking motivation and was out of the practice of pushing myself physically. I've been with a personal trainer before and didn't find that the value exceeded the cost, so I was definitely hesitant to try it again. You feel a little sticker shock with personal trainers until you break it down to how much a session actually costs and also realize how much you spent on crap that had no lasting benefit. That all said, I took a shot with Bryant. The value was noticed within the first week. Bryant has a special talent for knowing when you're being blocked physically and being blocked mentally. When it's physical, he will switch gears or pull back just enough so that you get the work in and break that sweat and burn those calories. When it's mental, he has tricks to get you over that mental hurdle and break that personal best. He also has nutrition advice and checks your weight and measurements to make sure you are staying on track. I went a little overboard on my vacation. We worked it out ;) I'm down 15lbs (first time I've been under 200lbs since college), dropped 3 waist sizes and I can feel strength coming back to me and my endurance has improved dramatically in 3 short months. I feel great both mentally and physically. Lastly, it's been fun. Bryant has a great personality and although he makes sure you put in the work, we have some laughs too. I'm really glad I took the leap and chose Bryant. I'm getting great results and I look forward to continuing my training with him.

Im in my early 70s and while in better shape than many of my peers, I was disappointed with my strength and my endurance, and I was dissatisfied in how my body shape was beginning to change. Part of this was due to back problems and a recent back surgery I had to correct sciatica. I had tried one Raleigh area personal trainer and think that helped to aggravate my back before surgery, so I was really leery about trying another one but I knew I needed help to look and feel better. I heard about Joe Augustine and his team at Body by Design Studio from a nurse at my doctors office and went in for my free trial a few months ago. I can tell you that the experience has been life-changing for me! Going two times a week now for five months I feel like I did 20 years ago. I think I actually look better now! With the help of Joe and the Body by Design staff I have build muscle, my back is pain free and strong, and my waist is small. The workouts are always different, always challenging and always productive. I leave feeling tired but energized and my friends and family notice the difference too! Body by Design is private, professional and their program just works. The best thing now is that they have just opened a second studio in my North Raleigh neighborhood, so now I dont have to drive more than 5 minutes to get there. I highly recommend them if you are considering hiring a trainer and you at least owe it to yourself to give them a try, because theyll give you a free session just to judge for yourself. They are the best in Raleigh in my book.

Charles is a remarkable personal trainer. I had always been active in the gym but never realized my full potential until I met with Charles. He asked me, "why dont we set our goal for a bodybuilding competition?" I never thought that that would even be feasible but sure enough under his instruction and guidance I ended up placing third at an NGA sponsored bodybuilding event. I continued to compete until I ended up moving to Pennsylvania. I cannot say how much this man has helped me; not only from a fitness aspect but he helped me grow as a person. I cannot say enough about how great of an experience it was to work with Charles.
I've had knee pain for many years, and my slowly weakening leg muscles were starting to let me down - not great considering I like to ski, rock climb, and hike. Alison is a great listener. She took the time to understand my issues and goals, and then developed a plan to get me back up to speed. I've been training with her 30 minutes, twice a week for 5 months now, and have made incredible improvements. Every part of my body feels (a lot) stronger, I'm way more flexible, and I can run up and down stairs just like when I was a teenager. I feel like I'm ready for pretty much anything, and I plan to keep it that way. If you're out of shape, have pain, can't get motivated... just send her an email. It'll take you 5 minutes, and you'll thank me for it. I'm still thanking my friend who "helped" me stop procrastinating ;)
Michelle is very passionate about fitness and life in general! Her quirkiness makes the tough work fun even though you feel as if you can not do one more rep. She has an amazing ability to read your 'mood' before the training session and takes time figure out where your head is so that you can clear it and focus %100 on the task at hand. She helped me reach all my fitness goals from loosing weight, increasing strength, using correct form, increasing stamina, and simply believing in me when I did not. After following her HITT and strength training program for nine weeks, the change in my body was dramatic! Chopp will push you beyond your comfort zone, however she will also follow up with amazing words of encouragement. If you are willing to put in the work, your potential with her as a trainer is limitless. She truly is the best trainer/coach/friend/ role model /mentor around!
I enjoyed working with Stedman. I found him encouraging and highly motivating. He would push me to excel at whatever exercises we did and he often was willing to try new things with me. One of the things I enjoyed about working with Stedman was that he never minded me asking questions about what we were doing or why and what it was working. He was confident when I would ask him form related questions and something I found him to excel at was if he didn't know an answer to a question, he would find someone who did know. I found him to be a fantastic teacher and trainer. I would highly recommend hi to anyone looking to push themselves to be the best they can be.
After becoming the heaviest I had been (5 feet tall and 155lbs), I knew I needed to start working out again in order to feel better about myself and so I wouldn't have to spend a fortune on a new wardrobe. I started working out with James for the second semester of my senior year in college. My goal was to lose 25lbs in time for graduation, and without him I wouldn't have gotten there. Through his guidance, I learned how to work out my body in the most effective and efficient ways possible in order to meet my weight loss goal. He was always so patient with me and so encouraging; he kept me motivated not only to push myself physically, but to remember that I can do anything I set my mind to in all aspects of my life. James always greeted me with a smile and a positive attitude; this helped especially because when we started I wasn't comfortable at all with my body and with myself. He never passed judgement, never lost patience; instead, he worked with me time and time again and with each time I left the gym feeling better about myself and also having learned at least one thing new about work outs and how to exercise properly. He also was great in the sense that he worked with my schedule which at the time was so busy that finding times to meet was a challenge in itself. James made sure to fit me into his schedule if there were only certain times that week that I could workout. That meant a lot to me because it showed me that he really cared about my progress. Bottom line: with James, I lost 25 lbs. He not only helped me lose the weight, he made me feel better in my own skin. Without him, that smile I had as I walked across a stage to get my diploma wouldn't have been nearly as big as it was if he hadn't been there to help me become the healthy and happy person I am. Now, it's more than a year later and I still use things he's taught me in my own workouts. James, if you read this, please know how grateful I am to you for helping me out that semester. I'd recommend you as a trainer to anyone.
