About

Angela is a pleasure to work with. She's patient and encourages you through your fears and challenges to become a better, more present-in-the-moment singer, while also emphasizing proper breathing (I obviously don't breathe enough ... we're working on it). I am just completing a package of classes and know I will continue lessons with her. I am happy I found her and very excited to learn more from her.

About

I took vocal lessons from J-Stylz for about 2 months, and what I can say is that WOW. He was able to bring out and develop my voice more than I knew was possible. He gave me the opportunity to better myself as a singer. He is very credible, and he knows a lot about music. He can teach you the technical aspects of singing, and also teach you about applying those skills with style into your music. If you are looking to develop your voice and explore your potentials as a singer, I would recommend. With hard work, practice, and guidance you can really see results!

About

My 9 year old son has been taking piano lessons with Brian for two months and it is amazing to see the progress he has made for this short time. It's a pure pleasure for me as a parent to witness the special interaction between the student and his teacher. Brian has a very unique approach towards his students. His teaching and guidance is communicated in a simple and understandable way for a child to relate to and understand. Every week my son is very excited to come to class and share what he has learned. I highly recommend Bryan as he has been a wonderful teacher so far for us!!!

Jean Whatley is gifted with musical talent and an exceptional teacher of piano and voice. My daughter and I were privileged to be her voice students for six years. We learned the fundamentals of singing with proper technique and to reach individual potential. Every minute of each session was utilized, focusing on vocal exercises, sight reading, theory, and selected music to challenge and enjoy. Her enthusiastic personality made the lessons quite entertaining yet her disciplined attention and awareness of our training was always the goal. The desire for her student to be a better vocalist was the aim, giving assignments to do during the week. She is a master of sound instruction balanced with individualized attention and creativity. I happily recommend her as a skilled instructor for the novice as well as the accomplished student. Both young and adult pupils will grow under Jean Whatley’s mentorship.

Hi Everyone! Gary is not only a wonderful vocal instructor. He is a confidence builder, motivational speaker, and genuinely great guy overall. I’ve now been with him a few weeks, and can honestly say, I’m thankful for our crossing paths through “Thumbtack”. He utilized the first of our sessions to get to know me as a singer and most importantly a person, allowing me to express my goals and aspirations, while providing some additional insight on himself and his musical experience. Although our sessions have been few, he has already instilled in me valuable lessons around various vocal techniques, musical terminology, stage presence, among other things. I’m grateful for the rapport that we have built, and are continuing to build. I’m also grateful for his tact, in his delivery around constructive feedback. After allowing my singing to become dormant for a while…due to the positive energy exerted, and just overall optimism and belief in me, he drives me want to give 100% to my craft again. I look forward to the many successes that will be accomplished in the future, with the ability to say Gary at “HotSpotts Music” was a part of my solid foundation. -Curtis N.

I hired Clayton for guitar lessons (for adults) and have not been disappointed in the slightest. He was and is very quick to respond to inquiries and was the most qualified for the best price of anyone I found. We've since had our first lesson, and it went great. He was fantastic at pushing the pace of learning at just the right speed. He even brought a stand and book along with him because I had neither! Looking forward to our next lesson.

Shane is a multi-talented wonder with an absolute focus on each student as an individual. My daughter started with Shane a year ago to learn to be more confident in the basics of dance. She auditioned very soon after for a theatre production in which she needed to tap. Immediately Shane set to teaching her the basics of tap so that she was confident in her audition. My daughter has auditioned and participated in theatre and film roles this past year. Each time she sees Shane she is preparing for something new. He has assisted her in choosing monologues appropriate for theatre and film, run lines with her, and helped her to be confident whether she is stepping onto the stage or in front of the camera. It's obvious that Shane loves what he does at the Elks Academy. Furthermore, it is clear that he wants each of his students to have fun, push themselves, learn from their mistakes, and explore and see things in ways they may never have before. He is genuinely thrilled for every accomplishment each of his students has. As a parent, I know that Shane puts his all into the time he has with my child. The thing I can say I appreciate the very most is that he is 100% honest with both my daughter and me. He is so positive and full of praise, but he will also tell her if she needs to work on something. Hearing honest feedback is essential to any artist. Learning to hear and deal with such feedback in the studio has been beneficial to my daughter on auditions. She can say thank you for the feedback and really listen to what a director is saying without being upset. That is a skill that will benefit her all of her life. Shane is also extremely flexible to work with. He has worked my daughter into a last minute session to go over a dance routine or a monologue prep for an audition. He is so supportive when we miss due to being on set and will let me know the openings he has so we can quickly make up a missed class. And the first thing he says when we get back is "tell me all about it!" If you want a lot of bang for your buck, Shane and the Elks Academy should be the first place you look! The prices are extremely fair and the attention your child will receive is just amazing. Shane will cater to your child as an individual and you will see how much he genuinely cares for his students.

Josh is an excellent guitar teacher. He tailors lessons to students very well, his knowledge of guitar is expansive, and his teaching style is very encouraging and constructive. I'm learning metal from Josh, and he has been able to help me progress much faster than I was able to on my own. You can't go wrong learning guitar from Josh.

It is a pleasure to write this review on behalf of my colleague, Robert Bussey. For six years, Robert was a Guitar Instructor at my music school, Charlotte Academy of Music. I was continually impressed by Robert's high level of organization and communication, and most importantly, the dedication he showed as a teacher. Highly experienced in many genres of music, Robert taught many students of all ages with various goals and interests. He showed the students a great deal of respect in regards to their own musical goals, while maintaining a good balance of teaching solid technique and theory. I am very excited at the possibility of Robert offering ensemble classes at Charlotte Academy of Music, hopefully in the near future! I cannot say enough good things about Robert Bussey, both as a teacher and as a person. The Stuff of Legends School of Guitar is highly recommended!

Kathleen taught my daughter for several years when she was young...6-9. She is not only an excellent teacher but she made it so enjoyable for my daughter that she truly learned to love playing. Competitive swimming over ran piano but she learned so much that she still plays almost every day and can look up popular songs she likes from the radio on the computer and teach them to herself!! Nothing makes me appreciate Kathleen more than seeing my daughter three years after her last lesson still sitting at the piano playing!
