I coordinated a surprise birthday dinner for my wife just last night. Chef Zacki was responsive from the start (2 weeks notice mind you) and made the night an amazing experience after we put our children down for sleep. We had appetizers, salad, sides, bread, main course (TWO in fact) and we ate so much we could barely move. She was very accommodating and even spent some time with us after cooking, which was fabulous. We wanted to make sure any chef we hired could eventually be a part of our family, and I have no doubt that Chef Zacki is that. I would recommend her personally and look forward to learning from her more about food, nutrition, life, and even God's love! K & Q

My family hired Chef Nico to prepare our Easter Sunday lunch. From prep to clean-up, Chef Nico took care of everything. His food was delicious. We are a family of experienced eaters and we loved every dish. He is creative in his preparations and executes his meals very well. Chef Nico also made a few cocktails for us and they were delicious! I will hire Chef Nico again and I recommend him without hesitation to anyone wanting a delicious meal!

I wanted to surprise my wife with a nice candlelight dinner. I contacted Chef Lemar and told him some foods that my wife enjoys. He responded within a day with a great menu! We made a couple of tweaks but it was completely due to preferences. I would recommend Chef Lemar not only for the food but also the price. He made some of the best food I have had and he was by far the most reasonable in regards to price. If you need a personal chef in the triangle area, go with Chef Lemar. I promise you won't be disappointed!

The cake we ordered was very unusual. It was a 3 tiered cake with a cherry blossom branch draped on the side with peach colored cherry blossoms. She did a FANTASTIC job and the cake was delicious. We had ordered more than enough cake to go around and should have had left overs but not one smidgen was left. Only wedding I've ever seen where there was left over food but no cake. Not only would I recommend Katelyn, but I will definitely use her again! Reliable, reasonable priced, pleasant to work with. Lastly, her portfolio of confections is amazing. Send her what you want and she can do it!

I recommend highly Maggie and Comfort Cuisine. She has helped me with dinners for business associates and all kinds of family gatherings including milestone birthdays, engagement parties, and most recently a welcome party before my daughter's wedding. It is cheaper and better than going to a restaurant. All I have to do is get the house clean and decide on a menu, and Maggie takes over. No worries. The food is delicious and her flower arrangements are incredible. Her helpers are efficient and so very nice to work with. For easy, wonderful, at home catered dinners and parties, there is no one better than Maggie and Comfort Cuisine!!

just wanted to thank you and everyone at A Taste Of Harlem Catering services for making my birthday such a special and memorable event. Shamyra have made this whole process so effortless and I appreciate how you worked with me on the cost and keeping it a beautiful event. From the very beginning, I felt very comfortable working with you and knew you had everything in control. In addition, I'm a perfectionist myself so it was great to be able to rely on you and your team and not have to worry about anything. It was more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined and I just wanted to thank you so much. We received so many complements on the food and I told everyone about A Taste of Harlem Catering and how amazing you and your team are. Thank you so much. If I ever have another event I will definitely rehire Shamyra !!!!!! 😊

I enthusiastically recommend Carolina Culinary Creations. I have had several dinners and parties catered for diners that had a variety of food allergies, including gluten, dairy and soy and preferences including vegetarian, vegan and paleo. The owner was able to provide delicious gourmet meals that met all allergy and food preference requirements within my budget. I found her to be professional at every stage of involvement from the initial contact, to meal planning, execution and cleanup. She was always quick to respond and able to work within some unique kitchen environments. My guests could not say enough about the quality of the meals. I plan on using her for all my entertainment needs

Just Table It has prepared food for our us on two different occasions and the food was wonderfully yummy. The taste and aroma was delightful. Mrs. Payne made sure that anyone that chose to eat vegan or vegetarian style had an option with the meals she prepared. I would recommend Just Table It for anyone looking for quality food and quality taste. I look forward to the next time Just Table It serves our us with one of her many delicious meals.

Simply scrumptious are the absolute best caterers I have ever used hands down! The food is amazing. They cook any type of food you can imagine. The shrimp and grits and the roast chicken were to die for. I have used them for cookouts, graduation parties, work events, and birthday parties. They are always prompt and professional.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
