Steve did an excellent job capturing the events of our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. He was professional and very accommodating during the events. He was also patient with the constraints of our hectic schedule including delivery of our pictures.

It has been a pleasure working with Toia. She is very professional, made me feel very comfortable and made me look stunning on my wedding day. She knew the colors to use for my skin tone, shimmer, and lipcolors. She also did my eyes so well- normally my eyes water or dont do well post application of makeup. She took care of it very professionally and did my eye makeup with extra care. She is amazing at hair styling as well and made me look gorgeous. I highly recommend her. Also her husband AJ is an amazing photographer. Their combined package of photography , makeup and hairstyling is excellent.

DJ Travis Gales is the consummate professional! He covered our Requested List of Songs as well as a number of on the spot guests requests. Keep the party going until the cops came! No worries, it was the kind of neighborhood that likes early quiet hours.. not a DJ issue! You can't go wrong with the quality of sound, the ease of setup & the value! Definitely recommend for any get together from the Wedding (for us) to the backyard BBQ! Quit looking.. you just found your DJ...

Our wedding day was simply beautiful and Reverend Jim and his wife, Susan, played a tremendous part in it. Although, my husband and I had a small wedding with no rehearsal, Reverend Jim and his wife's professionalism made everything feel and go so smoothly. They provided the entrance, exit, and ceremony music, all of which was a great fit for our wedding. If we had to do it all over again we would not change a thing. Reverend Jim and Susan are great people and were truly a delight to work with!

Alan truly exceeded our expectations. Before we even hired him, he insisted we meet to discuss our music preferences for our wedding. He drove quite a distance for the meeting and was exceptionally organized. In fact, throughout the whole planning process he was always accessible, he responded promptly, and he was very accommodating - even adding music to our playlist a day or two before our wedding. Alan also was fabulous at the wedding. He kept people dancing and kept events moving, sticking to the time table. Many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed him as well. I highly recommend Alan as he is a true professional.

I cannot put into words how amazing of a job SupremeTeam did for our wedding. We got married on April 30, 2016 and lost our Dj a week before the wedding. Nigel came in and save the day! Not only was my reception rescued, but we also lost our ceremony music. Nigel is easy to work with and very professional. I can honestly say they kept the dance floor going all night long. And even then the crowd wanted to keep the party going. Thank you Nigel for a job well done!!!! We will definitely hire SupremeTeam again for our next event. Thank you for saving our day!!! -The Parkers

Nasim of Lilac Floral Decor has a gift for making flower arrangements that are unique little works of art. Her graceful and understated designs let the beauty of each flower speak for itself. She suits them well to the venue, and I’ve seen how they quietly transform a table or a room into a celebration for weddings, performances, and receptions. Her ability to do a lot with a little means great value for the money spent. Best of all, she is all about great service, working hard and putting her heart into every assignment. You couldn’t find a kinder person. I highly recommend her!

Working with Lorenzo was great! 2 days before the wedding, I emailed him our custom playlist. The day before the wedding, we stayed on the phone for about 30 minutes, discussing how everything would come together and he made sure that we stayed on the same page. During the ceremony, he played everything that I had asked for and during the reception, he was on top of everything! When the family wanted to sit down, he made sure that everybody got up to dance. Many of my relatives had strayed outside for smoke breaks after dinner but his emcee skills brought everyone back in just to get in the Soul Train line!!

We started planning our giant Indian wedding extravaganza about three months before the big day(s). The process was overwhelming at first. An event coordinator at one of our two venues saw our distress and suggested Jocelyn as our weekend coordinator. After our first meeting, we knew immediately that she would be a great fit - what a relief!! Jocelyn coordinated an entire weekend of wedding events for us, including a Friday night reception in Venue 1, a Saturday morning wedding ceremony in Venue 2, a one-hour room flip in Venue 2, a Saturday evening horse procession to Venue 2, and a Saturday evening reception in Venue 2. Before our wedding, she calmly dealt with a multitude of decoration and logistical requests from myself and the extended family. She was never flustered, always flexible with her time, and always extremely optimistic. She also had great suggestions for vendors and services that fell within our limited budget. The weekend of our wedding went beautifully, and while some minor details ended up falling through the cracks (centerpieces were different from what we planned - not that anyone but the immediate family noticed!), nothing major went wrong - which is a HUGE accomplishment for a massive Indian wedding planned only in 90 days. Many of our wedding guests told us it was the most organized Desi wedding they had ever been to. What an achievement! None of this would have been possible without Jocelyn. Her and her team are the absolute BEST!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
