I hired Tracy to do my wedding hair on sort of short notice, I got in touch with her about 3 weeks before my fiancé and I flew into Niagara Falls and got married. She was professional, funny, and wonderful! My hair turned out beautifully, and it was exactly what I was hoping for!

DJ Baby Boomer Box was very professional to work with. He came to the event with a team that made sure all our guests requests were fulfilled when they wanted a particular song, there was always someone at the table so the music was always going, and they played a variety of music that was in addition to the songs that we provided on our playlist. He was able to find songs that suited our taste based on our suggestions for what music to play. I would definitely recommend them for any future events because they are a family business where everyone takes part in making the wedding or party enjoyable. DJ Baby Boomer Box was very affordable and provided quality services throughout the evening.

The most kind, caring man who could ever want to make the bride's day perfect. Ron was able to modify traditional wedding proceeding to fit our love for "The Princess Bride". After meeting twice before the wedding rehearsal, the rehearsal itself and finally the wedding, my now husband and I truly feel like he is family. And I hope to stay in touch. Love you, Ron!

Mr. Tim Clifton was our DJ for our Wedding Reception at Chiefs restaurant on July 13 2013… When we first met Tim Clifton he asks us what kind of music we like. Me and my husband like different kind of music , Tim Clifton told us he can play any kind of music we like, he gave us some pages and told us to write down what kind of music we like and what kind of music we don’t want play at the reception . Me and my husband was doing a special dance for our reception and the kind of music we need it was 8 different songs cut down into 6 minutes...I ask Tim Clifton can he do this for us he said yes he can.. He did awesome job downloading the demo for us we was so please with it... People at our reception were asking about Tim Clifton they like the music he plays… I will recommend Tim Clifton to anyone!!!

Stefan (and his assistant) were fantastic & amazing and I can't recommend them enough. The bride absolutely loved them & said they made her feel completely comfortable & relaxed and they had a lot of laughs as well. 100% professional & thorough - we could tell they were constantly working over the 9+ hours, yet very good at blending in like ninjas. When it came time to do our bride and groom shots, they had already scouted the locations & gave us great guidance of how to stand and pose - much appreciated, as I look like a big nerd from about 95% of angles. "Tilt your head this way, put your hand there, etc" Very helpful! For the price, I feel like I should have paid 5x as much but could never have afforded that. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding photographer - thank you Stefan!!!!!!!!

We hired RJZ a week before we got hitched. We hired them because the cost was in our budget, but more importantly their pictures were stunning. The pictures they captured of us on our wedding day are beautiful. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and confident and for taking some amazing pictures!

We used Premier Photo for my parents 50th wedding anniversary party. They set up a photo booth for us. They did an amazing job! They arrived in the morning to set up while we were setting up so we could coordinate where everything was going. Prior to leaving the set up, they made sure everything was in place and we were set to go later. They arrived thirty minutes early for the actual event to double check their set up. During the event, they made sure everyone got involved so we have pictures of everyone attending. They stayed beyond their four hours to make sure the event went smoothly. They created a photo memory book with copies of all pictures for my family. The prices were also very reasonable. They were amazing and I would definitely use them again!

My husband and I were very happy to have Daqwan Koenig take our wedding pictures. They came out very beautiful with lots of options. We loved the black and white ones. Also he is a very relaxed photographer and didn't stress anyone by being too demanding. Even though there was not a lot time scheduled for pictures. We have some of the most fun wedding shots I've seen. His humor just made you laugh and the pictures look natural. R&N Granados

Kim is amazing to work with!!! She is professional and talented!!! She is very responsive to email and text, which was critical because we are from out of town. She took our pre and post wedding photography for our wedding. We originally only had her scheduled to do our pre-wedding photos but last minute I wanted post wedding photos as well and Kim graciously accommodated this last minute request!! The sneak peek revealed stunning photos and I can't wait to receive the rest!! I highly recommend Kim and any time I'm in need of a photographer she will be the first person I contact!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
