Mrs. Fulton was my instructor for 2 years of my Spanish education and was one of the most influential instructors that I have had the pleasure of learning from. It seemed easy for Mrs. Fulton to make her lessons both fun and exciting, and she also made sure that she created an environment that was conducive to learning Spanish. If I didn't understand something or if I wanted to learn something outside of the curriculum, then Mrs. Fulton took the time, both in class and after school, to provide me with the materials that would help me succeed. Being under Mrs. Fulton's instruction not only helped me as a high school student, but has also continued to help me in my college studies. I am very lucky to have been her student.

My doughter needed help with Geometry her Sophmore year. She was failing the class. Part of the problem was that she has ADHD. We had signed up with ClubZ after an interview with Carol. She was very professional and attentive, trying to do everything possible to get my doughter help she needed. Our first tutor did not work out due to her busy schedule. Carol has managed to find another one very quickly, she tried to find a tutor that would be compatible with the needs of my doughter. My doughter loved that tutor, her name is Kate, she did great job when working with Vlada and only in 1 hr lesson a week , my doughter was able to raise her grade to 97 % in 4th quarter. Thank you ladies for the confidence you gave Vlada! I would recommend your company to all students who need help. Very personal and highly skilled staff. Anna

My daughter, a freshman in High School, participated in the 10 week Study Skills Program with Laura from Club Z! Laura was wonderful to work with and the outcomes have been amazing. Laura provides the students an opportunity to learn in each session, but also apply with current school assignments and tests. She is passionate about helping students excel and do the best they can. We will definitely use Club Z! for our other students and I would encourage you to too!

Twila Grigsby, a tutor who teaches math, has done a splendid job for me! When I didn't understand a concept in a lesson I was taught, she took the time to review my notes and ask me questions to what I didn't understand. She is a very patient person who is very well oriented. If I didn't understand the lesson completely, she would offer me sample problems. After awhile, I finally got the hang of it. I would definitely recommend her to become your tutor because she encourages me to stay motivated and the best thing about her is, she's very professional. - Miranda Sanchez

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.

How much do math tutors cost?

Math is a subject that’s challenging for many students. Fortunately, home math tutors can help students excel in math by working with them in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions. The cost for math tutors varies based on the type of math, the expertise and experience of the tutor, and geographic location. Pricing may range between $40 and $100 per hour, depending on the math subject. As a rule, the more complex the subject matter, the more the math tutor will charge for the lessons. The cost reflects the math tutor’s advanced studies and the work required for them to be able to teach on the subject. Frequency can also affect costs. Students can buy packages of lessons for a lower cost per session than buying individually. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a geometry home tutor is $50-$60. The national average rate for an algebra home tutor is $40-$50 per hour. For generalized math tutors, the national average ranges between $40 and $50 per hour. More intensive standardized test prep studies and math tutoring average $70-$100 per hour.

How much does home tutoring cost?

Investing in home tutoring is an investment in your child’s future. Home tutors work one on one with your child to address their challenge areas and provide room for intellectual growth that may not happen in a busy classroom. Test prep home tutoring is typically more expensive than single-subject tutoring. Here are some examples of average tutoring costs:
