I was a relative beginner to the guitar when I started lessons with Otis. From the first lesson he was patient, encouraging and enthusiastic. He tailors the lessons to the types of music and songs you are interested in. He has a wide range of music knowledge and styles which make him an ideal teacher who can help any student take that first step toward becoming a guitar player or help a seasoned player hone their skills. Highly recommended!
Nick is an amazing teacher! He is very knowledgable and skilled, making him a perfect person to learn from. I am a beginner guitar player and he has made me feel really comfortable from the start. No complaints here.. rock on !!
I have been taking classical guitar lessons from Bertrand for a few weeks and am pleased with the progress. Bertrand has a contagious music philosophy and a knack for intertwining genres. He emphasizes music theory beyond the guitar and is constantly interested in the structural foundations of the pieces I play.
My husband is really enjoying his guitar lessons with Bradley!
My partner and I scheduled lessons together with Jaime to learn the guitar. We are both beginners, so we chose Jaime because of his several reviews of being very knowledgable about the guitar and patient with people, which proved to be true. Overall, our first experience with Jaime was great! We really enjoyed our lesson and look forward to many more.
Russell was very nice and got right to work teaching me about slide guitar. I appreciate his responsiveness and encouraging attitude. I will continue with him.
Shane is an awesome guitar teacher! He is very laid back, fun, and pays attention to where you are as a student. He pushes you, but also makes sure you're still having fun because he knows that's what it's all about. I highly recommend him as a teacher - and the G4 method is easy to follow. Instead of grabbing your usual beer and a Lyft, spend the cash on guitar lessons you have always wanted to take!
I am so proud of all the great work my good friendGreg Arney has done in creating this awesome website of free guitar lessons. Hub guitar is simply the best material out there. Top notch stuff!
Evan is a great music teacher! My son was taking private guitar lessons from him.I really loved his professional approach, friendliness and great passion for music.I would highly recommend his services!
I have taken guitar lessons from Alan Donati for a number of years in order to better understand music. Being a weathered rock/blues drummer myself, I can attest that Alan is a very accomplished musician and seasoned music teacher who learned his craft via years of playing in rock, blues and jazz bands as well as attending Berklee as a solid foundation. Alan can teach a number of instruments well such as guitar, bass and piano alongside incorporating music theory with the practical applications. He is very adapt with technology as well as “old school”. I have seen Alan teach many students with great patience with tailored attention to the particular student’s interest. Some veteran musicians can only play well but not teach. However, Alan can obviously do both. And so I am giving Alan an outstanding review and rating.
David has been teaching me guitar for a little over a month now. I have already seen great advances in my technique, rhythm, and understanding of music. I have been playing guitar for 9 years off and on, and I have never had professional lessons. I can say that after a month with David, I am playing better than I ever have and believe that my guitar playing skills will continue to progress rapidly with David's help. His teaching technique is very casual and fun, almost conversational, and his insights are spot on. He is exactly what I hoped for in an instructor when I started looking at guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him for anyone who loves guitar, regardless of their skill level. He is a 'must hire' professional!
I have three guitar lessons with Evan and he has already given me so much great stuff to work on! I had been teaching myself for about six months, but Evan has done so much more for me and shown me so many ways to improve. I am really looking forward to continuing learning from him.
My son took beginner piano lessons from Fiona last year. He is a very sensitive boy and was nervous about learning an instrument for the first time, but Fiona put him at ease right away. She has a sweet and earnest teaching style, and explains new concepts in a way that's welcoming and easy to understand. I know her willingness to teach him whatever music he wanted to learn went a long way towards keeping his attention on the piano and away from the iPad. We always looked forward to our lessons with her!
I was very happy with our first lesson. I look forwar to learning how to play my guitar from Gary.
After taking piano lessons from a traditional piano teacher for 6 years, I needed a change. Steve was the perfect choice. He played at a local piano bar at the time, and I wanted to hone my skills so I could play in bands, too. I assumed he would teach me the ins and outs of chords and then send me off to conquer the music scene, but it turned out he had a real mastery of musical theory, and he held it to a very high importance. He began each of our lessons with music theory - all the basics that make a solid foundation for any musician. Then, he introduced a new concept to something I had been doing all along. He gave me sheet music to learn - tough teaching songs - then after a time, began blocking my view of my hands with paper while playing. Eventually, he'd block my hands and take away the music, teaching me a very important part of playing anything in front of people. You have to know the music inside and out. You can't rely on the sheets in front of you. That's the only way you can truly immerse yourself in the song and let your fingers do the playing. His fees were reasonable and the time was very well-spent. You have to do the work between lessons to get the most out of them. Steve has a true mastery of live performance on every level, and it would behoove any musician, young or old, beginner or skilled, to spend a year in his teaching. We can all benefit from it. I certainly did. I've been in various bands, ever since, and I haven't looked back except to remember who helped me get here.
I love working with Lynn. I am just starting to learn the guitar and she has been a great instructor. She is very patient but also makes sure to encourage you when you are doing well! I have enjoyed every lesson and am excited to keep learning!
I was a complete beginner at 50! John has been excellent at introducing me to guitar so I can play songs right away. After a couple of months, I searched online for what makes a good guitar teacher and John does them all.
Great teacher that makes learning fun and easy to understand for players of all levels. I've been playing guitar for 20+ years. I decided to take guitar lessons (again) to ramp up my guitar playing and music theory knowledge. Rob has helped (and continues to help) me get to that "next level". - Pat D
Inigo is a great guitar instructor. He is very knowledgeable in multiple guitar styles and great at explaining music theory. He is easy going and encouraging. It is great making music with him!

Brant knows the learning process and details of body mechanics as they apply to playing guitar and he has honed his teaching skills through over 15 years of offering private guitar lessons to students in the greater Boston area ranging in age from 10 to 70, from complete beginners to other professional guitarists. In short, he knows how to teach you what you want to learn. If you're looking for a guitar teacher in Boston, whether your dream is to strum your first chords, improvise like Wes Montgomery, write a great prog-rock tune, or be the next Segovia, the learning environment Brant provides at his studio in the South End is one that encourages you while stretching you to achieve more than you thought you could. He caters to all levels, from complete beginners to other performing musicians. Beginning guitarists, you will develop a solid foundation in technique and concepts while learning the tunes you want to play. If you're taking more advanced guitar lessons, you'll learn how to overcome roadblocks in development, deepen your understanding of the instrument and of music, and come to see the guitar as a beginner does - full of potential. Regardless of level, Brant focuses a good deal of attention on "how" to practice, not just what to practice, and on developing a unique curriculum for each student. Everyone also has access to a professional recording studio for any projects they may wish to share.
