John was great at our wedding. He really made it special and custom to us! He talked with me and my husband and gathered information from us separately so he could make our ceremony special. I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Thank you John for helping making our wedding day wonderful!

I have used Roy Banner for my photographer for several years and have always admired how professional, yet fun and friendly he is. Roy has photographed my senior prom, senior pictures, engagement pics and my wedding. He is now taking newborn pictures of my son along with so many other milestones with our little one. BannerProImages has always been our "go to" photographer. We have loved every image that he has captured for me and my family. The quality is stunning and the memories created with his eye for natural beauty and light is impeccable. You will not be disappointed with his work!

Lauren made a beautiful cake for our wedding! We could not be happier with it. She also made nearly 600 macarons for favors for our guests which people are still talking about today! Her quote was on point, and it was so easy to work with her. I knew we wanted chocolate and lemon flavors, but she made them so much more interesting with a peanut butter crunch layer below the chocolate cake (so it was chocolate with peanut butter) and the lemon cake had a lemon curd and fresh raspberry filling. The buttercream was amazing! and she did an excellent job creating texture in the buttercream (like I asked for) and a beautiful flower made of fondant with fondant petals flowing from it. The macarons were perfect: little pistachio and vanilla flavored ones, which must have taken her forever but the consistency and perfection of all 600 was amazing. Weeks later people are raving, and I even froze about 30 and brought them to work 2 weeks after she made them and people loved them! Lauren is easy to work with, with a great creative eye, and able to produce some amazing goodies with a very reasonable price point for the quality. Would definitely use for her other sweet projects and recommend her to others.

It doesn't really seem like Rhianon needs any more amazing reviews, but I simply can't help myself! She is AMAZING. Beautiful, inside and out, and her work defies description. My "before and after" transformation was so unbelievable that people who know me well did a double-take at our event! She is warm and kind, easy to talk to, and delightful company. I cannot recommend her enough. Everyone kept saying how beautiful my makeup was for my wedding. I actually had someone I didn't know very well tell me I was the most beautiful bride she had ever seen, which means a lot, because she wasn't just saying it because she had to. She went above and beyond to make my day special. I was a nervous wreck, and she did everything she could to calm me down and ease the nerves. She's the best of the best, and I was so extraordinarily lucky to of had her! :D

I wish I could rate Scott with 100 stars. He officiated my wedding in August of 2015 and I knew going into the ceremony that he was going to do a great job but he completely blew me away. His attention to detail, wanting to learn everything he can about the couple and genuine love and compassion for what he does is what makes Scott such an incredible person. If you are looking for someone to officiate your wedding, you've found him. What's more, is that you will develop a great friendship with one of the best people I've ever met in my life.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

      What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
