I hired Anne and from the first day I saw just how professional, and censer she was toward teaching my son. She is very knowledgeable about the lessons that she brings with her and gives my wife and I updated on a regular basis. She communicates with his teacher so that they have a clear understanding what needs to be addressed. I am very pleased and recommend her for any grade level child.

Reetika Bhardwaj: DAT Tutor I had a positive experience being tutored by Reetika. Observations I noted during our sessions include how patient she was and clearly knowledgable on the material. She knew the best resources to use to get the desired score. She was accommodating and flexible when it came to scheduling tutoring sessions. She doesn't know the PAT section of the DAT, but I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help in biology, chemistry or mathematics. She definitely simplified topics I struggled with.

He is extremely knowledgeable about current test taking strategies and methods to optimize studying for the SAT and other standardized tests. He saves money and time by recommending the SAT study books (& internet resources) that will focus your studies. He personalizes lessons to fit student needs and learning styles. He has tutored two of our children, increasing their test taking confidence and boosting their scores ! He is much better than the large commercialized SAT study factories.

I am a senior in high school and was taking the class AP Physics C. My teacher at school did not teach the lessons very well, so I went to Mr. Lee for tutoring and help with physics. He tutored me about an hour two times a week. When I went to Mr. Lee for tutoring he clarified, corrected, and went in more depth on the topics I learned from my teacher at school. Sometimes I would have a test the next day and just call him to have a lesson that night to review the unit.

I received tutoring for my calculus course because it was difficult for me to understand my teacher. Club Z was extremely helpful in simplifying the material and helping me to fully understand it. I've taken more advanced calculus courses successfully because of the strong foundation Club Z helped me build. Thank you Club Z!

Yenisey is helping my second grader with math... he loves his lessons and even his school teacher noticed the difference with his work and enthusiasm, he loves math at this point. I will definitely continue with Yenisey and even have him eventually learn Spanish with her.

I would have never made it through GT Pre-Calculus without Ashley. I have always been a strong student with exceptional grades in Algebra and Geometry, but Pre-Cal overwhelmed me. She made the concepts make sense to me and was very patient when I asked her to re-explain things. She was an excellent tutor.

I like teaching and learn something from others. For example, I am a catechist in Saint Rita Parish, so I teach religion to children, and I like it. With the French language, I will try to find ways for learning rapidly and with fun. I want to make people improve.

I am a lifelong math advocate, graduate civil engineer and MBA who can connect what you already know to higher level mathematics. I have fulfilled all the TEA state requirement for certification and hold high scores on the subject area and pedagogy exams. I have classroom experience, and I have been registered with College Board as teacher of record for AP calculus course. I also taught geometry, and Algebra 1 and 2. I can diagnose any gaps and can pull it all together for you.

I am fluent in French. I have taught French at Berlitz, as well as University of Texas and Highland Park ALL. I also taught English in France at Lycee Henri IV. My accent is Parisian (not Canadian or American). Speaking a language is no guarantee that one can teach a language, but I can.

I've been teaching and tutoring varying and various subjects for well over a decade. My Reading and Writing students routinely perform at grade levels at least four to five years above their expected placement and often well above that. I also work with students every year to take part in their school spelling bees on every level. My baccalaureate degrees are in Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, and Voice Performance, so while I have more actual student tutoring hours in the liberal arts (I also worked for many years at UTA's Writing Center as a tutor), I have also spent many hours tutoring fellow students in nearly every science (save geology, perhaps) at every level, collegiate to elementary school. I can teach the fundamentals of piano, everything but the most complicated music theory and ear training, most percussion instruments and some flute.

I really don't know that it does. I do know that I am willing to travel and do groups or individuals. My degree is in counseling so I am adept at interacting with people. I am also a native speaker and have a very diverse background, including commercial pilot, driving instructor, investigator, and others. My professional counselor licensure helps me meet the needs of a student. Sometimes there are obstacles to learning that are not readily apparent. I have to find them and address them.

I offer guitar lessons with a focus on theory, improvisation, creativity and writing. I can read sheet music and tabs and teach a variety of styles. You'll have Spanish tutoring from a nonnative (if you couldn't tell from my name) Spanish major at the University of North Texas. I have over four years of Spanish classroom experience.

For peoples of all ages interested in music and learning how to play the piano or how to become better at it. I can teach from beginners to high intermediate in the areas of classical music, music theory, and harmony. I studied in Spain a 6-year degree in music, with concentration in piano, obtaining the best grades in piano performance. I have experience with young students. I love teaching and motivating students to learn this great art. I have grown up in Spain, and if anyone is interested in Spanish lessons, I can help with that too, because I have a native knowledge of the language. I have experience teaching Spanish and I love to teach it.

I provide reading/writing support as well as English, American sign language, and communication support. I believe in diverse strategies for diverse learners. Observation and interaction are a part of the instructional support using a plethora of strategies.

We tailor our tutoring to each individual students needs and know best how to teach to each style.

I teach Spanish as a second language to all level of instruction, cultures and businesses. I have over 20 years of experience in teaching at all levels. I am a certified Spanish instructor.

In-home, online tutoring services of Spanish and French languages are provided by native speakers to students, travelers, managers (who have constant communication with non-English speaker employees), and professionals. We charge $25 for in-home class and $20 for online class.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.

How much do math tutors cost?

Math is a subject that’s challenging for many students. Fortunately, home math tutors can help students excel in math by working with them in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions. The cost for math tutors varies based on the type of math, the expertise and experience of the tutor, and geographic location. Pricing may range between $40 and $100 per hour, depending on the math subject. As a rule, the more complex the subject matter, the more the math tutor will charge for the lessons. The cost reflects the math tutor’s advanced studies and the work required for them to be able to teach on the subject. Frequency can also affect costs. Students can buy packages of lessons for a lower cost per session than buying individually. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a geometry home tutor is $50-$60. The national average rate for an algebra home tutor is $40-$50 per hour. For generalized math tutors, the national average ranges between $40 and $50 per hour. More intensive standardized test prep studies and math tutoring average $70-$100 per hour.

How much does home tutoring cost?

Investing in home tutoring is an investment in your child’s future. Home tutors work one on one with your child to address their challenge areas and provide room for intellectual growth that may not happen in a busy classroom. The cost of home tutors depends on multiple factors including where you live, the tutor’s background and education, the subject matter, and how often the tutor comes. Test prep home tutoring is typically more expensive than single-subject tutoring. Here are some examples of average tutoring costs:

    • National average cost for an algebra home tutor: $40-$50 per hour.
    • National average cost for a French home tutor: $30-$50 per hour.
    • National average cost for a geometry home tutor: $50-$60 per hour.
