I had Tarrant roofing come out to look at my roof and they gave me pictures of hail damage. I initially called because we lost shingles in a hail storm. They didn't show any pictures of the lost shingles. I kept asking for quotes for repair on just the lose shingles and they were only interested in what my insurance company would say about replacing the whole roof. My insurance was $6,000 deductible. I didn't want to replace a roof at beginning of spring and worried about loose shingles. They refused to give quote without my insurance. Then last week we had heavy rains and it started coming inside. Tarrant roofing jacked us again promising to come tarp our roof and then at 5:00pm they called and said oh wait never mind it's only if we have a contract, no contract without a quote. Medina roofing came out, gave me pictures of my roof and told me exactly where the leak was coming from. It was from the vent. He gave me a quote right there of $450 to fix the WIND damage, and recaulk all vents on the roof. My adjustmenter for my insurance came out and looked at the roof. He agreed I did not have any hail damage, my roof is 8yrs old. He said the repairs should run $500-600. The water spot on the ceiling that is now inside the bathroom is a easy fix with some kilz primer and paint. Medina didn't think he could get out to me for a week or so as he was backed up. He came 2 days later, it took 2 hours. The came did there work and left without disturbing anyone. My little dog are usually very territorial and his crew was quite we heard no one talking. We signed everything via online. He knew I had some health issues and slept during the day.

Eric and his team was very prompt in painting my house, installing fascia board, repairing rotted wood, installing 3 roof worrlie birds and roof ventilation. They were very reasonably priced. They were very nice and easy to work with. A couple of areas of improvement would be to remove the sprayed paint off the customers windows. I had to scrap paint off of ALL my windows and re-hang a light that wasn't reattached after the project was completed. I would definitely hire them again and I would also recommend them. They were great.

Gerardo and his guys are excellent and efficient. Not only did they repair 3 doors that had shifted due to foundation issues, they also replaced the vanity in the laundry room, replaced ceramic tile, and a damaged plank in the wood floor. I was amazed by how quickly they performed all the additional tasks I added to the job. Lastly, by repairing the doors they reduced my cost by over $700 (if I would have bought new replacement doors). I highly recommend Gerardo and his team!

My roofing repair was a small one, but Matt managed to squeeze me into his busy schedule. When it rained last week my roof didn't leak. He did an excellent job of clean up also. His price was reasonable. I want him to come back and fix my damaged cieling now.

Darrell was a joy to work with. He was hired to do a couple of quick roofing tasks and the completion of a very detailed decorative fence which a handyman had abandoned because it was too complicated. I am very pleased with the roofing task but elated with the decorative fence. His "eye" understood the level of detail that the task required and he delivered. Darrell was very pleasant and easy to work with. He went the extra mile to explain to me the means and methods that would be employed to complete the job and then kept me informed as they proceeded. I will not hesitate to hire him in the future. In fact, I have already discussed maintenance work that is required on approx 600 feet of existing wood fencing!!

Despite threatening weather the entire week, Keith and his crew were able to repair my roof and living room ceiling leak in just two days time. They also repaired the carport roof and replaced rotten wood and did some finish work on the storage shed and fence gate. They hauled off most of the junk branches from the yard, repaired the gutters and said I can call them to come out and clean the gutters and sweep off the roof yearly. They also left me with a couple of cans of touch up paint. I'll be calling them again in the fall for tree trimming as well.

I am 1000% satisfied with the new roof that Recover Roofing installed for me. Josh Felts took care of all of the details. I am impressed by the workmanship of the roof installation and the professionalism exhibited by Josh and his roofing team. The roof was completed in one day and nothing was out of place in my yard after the team finished the installation - other than the new roof I would have never known a major construction project occurred while I was at work. I highly recommend Recover Roofing & Reconstruction.

J.D. And D'Anna were wonderful to work with, always responsive, honest, and trustworthy. They worked with me to get me the best quality materials at a price I could afford, which I really appreciated. They installed new gutters/leaf guards/filters, replaced fascia, rotted wood, missing shingles, and did brick work. They took the time to explain what needed to be done, showed me pictures of the finished work for areas I couldn't see (inside gutters, etc), and reviewed work with me until we were all happy with the finished product. I can't thank them enough for making a stressful period less stressful by always being reliable and professional.

Rutger Contracting replaced the hail damaged roof on my rental property. I chose them because they were professional, quick to respond, and they gave me a reasonable quote based on my insurance claim. Throughout the job, communication was seamless. They answered my questions, completed work promptly, and coordinated with my tenants. There were no surprises! They did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, and for the price they said it would cost. I was very pleased with my experience!

Just put my house on the market when it was suddenly hit by hail. I did not know who to turn to until someone suggested GreyHammer. They came to my home and spent a lot of time not only educating me on a variety of roofing systems. But on colors, products and how some can build equity into the home I was trying to sell. greyhammer did a fabulous job and truly making me feel like a highly valued client as all of my needs and concerns were addressed immediately. This is my home Ana because of the great custom work of GreyHammer Construction it sold in only 3 hours. I can not thank you enough. Words can not explain the thanks I have.

I had so many things to do around the house it seemed like my list never got any shorter. Our lease was up and we had to move into our new home. That's when I decided to hire Jose and his crew. Not only did they take care of the small projects like painting, dry wall repair, and installation of light and fan fixtures but they also took care of the bigger jobs when the other contractors didn't show up. Jose installed wood flooring throughout the whole house and remodeled the kitchen and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. They were professional, efficient and ended up being cheaper than the original no-show contractors. I would recommend Hi-tech to anyone hands down.

Curtis, Jackson and their team did a great job. They demoed/removed existing cabinets, moved electrical outlets, added wood flooring, painted walls/trim and installed custom cabinetry. I found them to be straight shooters and took great pride in their work. We look forward to completing our next project with them soon.

We had shopped around quite a bit before finalizing on Accurate Roofing Systems and are extremely pleased that we chose them Reasonably priced excellent quality of work and the work done at a very fast pace We recently replaced our 15 year old roof from wood shakes to tile shingle roofing. A great team of hard working crew was well coordinated, efficient, and we saw a lot of team work. We had 2 new sun tunnel skylights placed in our master bathroom and one in the walk-in closet and they did an immaculate job in fixing those. The new tile roof has given a sensational look to my house making it stand out in the neighborhood. Unlike the other roofers we talked to this team was very approachable and both would retu0072n our phone calls on the very same day. They do not charge you a single dollar till the final work is completed great Job Completely satisfied and would highly recommend them for all roofing purposes.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
