I had Tarrant roofing come out to look at my roof and they gave me pictures of hail damage. I initially called because we lost shingles in a hail storm. They didn't show any pictures of the lost shingles. I kept asking for quotes for repair on just the lose shingles and they were only interested in what my insurance company would say about replacing the whole roof. My insurance was $6,000 deductible. I didn't want to replace a roof at beginning of spring and worried about loose shingles. They refused to give quote without my insurance. Then last week we had heavy rains and it started coming inside. Tarrant roofing jacked us again promising to come tarp our roof and then at 5:00pm they called and said oh wait never mind it's only if we have a contract, no contract without a quote. Medina roofing came out, gave me pictures of my roof and told me exactly where the leak was coming from. It was from the vent. He gave me a quote right there of $450 to fix the WIND damage, and recaulk all vents on the roof. My adjustmenter for my insurance came out and looked at the roof. He agreed I did not have any hail damage, my roof is 8yrs old. He said the repairs should run $500-600. The water spot on the ceiling that is now inside the bathroom is a easy fix with some kilz primer and paint. Medina didn't think he could get out to me for a week or so as he was backed up. He came 2 days later, it took 2 hours. The came did there work and left without disturbing anyone. My little dog are usually very territorial and his crew was quite we heard no one talking. We signed everything via online. He knew I had some health issues and slept during the day.

Keto Roofing put a roof on my daughter's house near the Fort Worth Zoo two years ago and then again last spring after the March hail storm. She was happy, I didn't have a roofer I was satisfied with, so I called Eric Keto to put a roof on my house. I've had a real estate brokerage for 40 years, working both residential and commercial properties for individuals, partnerships, and receiverships appointed by Tarrant County family and civil courts. I was without a roofer for the first time in memory, and the hail storms had destroyed many roofs. Also, I have been mayor of Edgecliff Village for nine years before retiring last year. I am aware of the scams and cons of many so-called roofers, and we instituted a requirement that roofers register with the city before knocking on doors. In other words, I am skeptical of new roofers. Keto Roofing put a roof on my house, staying on time and within budget, and even managed to upgrade to an impact-resistant shingle without raising the price. Several leaks the former roofer had been unable to stop were reduced to one, and then Eric Keto and the roofer's crew chief returned over and over until it was solved. No more leaks for the first time in years. The crew of roofers was excellent: laughing, polite, and hardworking. The next door neighbor hired Keto on the spot, and he put that roof on the next week. I then hired him to put on a roof of a residential property I was managing near Willow Lake. Same result: on time and within budget. I have managed a medical building for the last 30 years near Bellaire Dr and Hulen St for a partnership of doctors. It needed a flat roof and I had no commercial roofer. I thought I had found one, but when he brought me a contract with no liability whatsoever for himself and no limit for me, I called Eric Keto. While he had done excellent work, it had all been residential properties. He said he could absolutely do it. He did. There are 8 tenants in the building, and it is difficult, to say the least, to coordinate them all. After one day the TPO roof was done at nights and on weekends. Keto rented light towers at his own expense, and since night work is slower than daytime work, I'm sure it cost the company several thousand dollars. The price stayed the same. The job was so well-done that the local Mule-Hide representative, after a thorough inspection, guaranteed the roof for 15 years. That was it. I highly recommend Keto Roofing for residential and commercial roofing. If there's ever a problem, he comes back until it's fixed.

My roofing repair was a small one, but Matt managed to squeeze me into his busy schedule. When it rained last week my roof didn't leak. He did an excellent job of clean up also. His price was reasonable. I want him to come back and fix my damaged cieling now.

I hired Infinity Roofing to work on my home from the recent hail storms from March 2016. The initial contact from Josh the project manager was amazing. He was very professional and walked me through the entire process. If I had any questions once the work began he just a phone call away. This was important to me due to my recent experience with another company. From the outside work to the inside work the workers were great as well and picked up after themselves. I would recommend Infinity Roofing as a profession company. Thanks guys for the great work and professionalism!!!! Ms. Talib

I called Velesa Construction to ask for an estimate regarding roof repairs for a house we are about to buy. Veronica responded promptly and emailed an estimate in less than 24 hours. The project is not completed because the seller of the house is responsible for it.

On my 4th roof in 10 years. I hate hail storms! The last 3 roofs were all installed by 3 different companies and all 3 took 2 and half days to replace the roof. All 3 also worked with our insurance company and kept “ALL” of my insurance money. My 4th roof was just installed yesterday by HonestRoof. Night and day difference. This is a true shingle roofing company. Showed up at 6:45am and finished the entire job in only 1 DAY! 16 guys total on the crew. EVEN HAD $1180 DOLLARS OF MY OWN INSURANCE MONEY LEFT OVER FOR ME TO KEEP!

I had a full new roof installed on my house by Ready Roofing. They were professional and did a really good job. I spoke several times to the lead guy who was on site and he was good at explaining everything to me. Ready also handled my insurance claim. I never had to speak to the insurance company again after calling to file the claim, because RR also met the adjuster when I couldn't (at work). I am so happy with them!

I wanted a specific size and style gutter and downspout for a mid-century modern house. Oleg and his crew came up with exactly what was originally designed for the house, with a color that matched the new metal roof exactly. I could not be more pleased.

I recently had StormPros replace my roof and repair my chimney. They were very friendly, had great customer service, and were very quick to respond any time I had a question or needed to talk to them. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail to me. They worked with my insurance company to get everything completed in a timely manner, and they worked tirelessly to ensure that I was completely satisfied with all the repairs. They offered very competitive pricing and I would definitely recommend them.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
