Clean Green was great to work with when it came to scheduling, they arrived on-time and were professional. The tile they cleaned looks great. My only disappointment was after they left I noticed the cleaner/sealer spray (not sure which) sprayed on the tile near the baseboards and appliances, had dried on the baseboards/appliances, and took some scrubbing to remove it.

Rob did a great job replacing a tile, repairing an access panel, fixing my sliding glass door, and installing door knobs for me. He replied quickly, was efficient, and the price was reasonable considering I was able to find him same-day. I will definitely use him again for any handyman needs!

I really enjoyed working with these guys. I had a tricky bathroom remodel and a difficult tile pattern to have done throughout my condo. I found out about them and decided to give them a call after a botched full bathroom remodel and tile that my “friend” left for me. Since he never completed it, I needed to get the project done fast since it was my ONLY bathroom. They got the job done and my bathroom and hallway look amazing!! Will definitely hire them again!!

Daniel did a great job with a tough tile situation. He showed up on time and put together an issue I had and couldn't rectify. He was professional and made the end project look very nice. Thought the project took an hour longer than he initially thought, he still held true to the bid he sent. He even cleaned up when he left. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

Rafael & Gina did an excellent job in my home. They were punctual, responsive, professional, and performed quality work on tasks I requested. We had our dishwasher installed, electric to gas range installed, vertical tiling around a fireplace, and electrical sources restored to our entertainment area. We will be using the Vianas again in the near future.

My carpet and rugs look amazingly brand new. He was always on time and just dug in and worked so hard. He also steamed cleaned all my floor tile and the bathroom's wall tile. My home smells so fresh, and feels so much cleaner. I am getting ready to place our home on the market and want everything to look its' best. Hire Master Carpet to feel good about your home. I just happened to trip over Thumbtack while I was on looking for different services to spruce up my home. I am so glad I did. Remember everybody get everything written down on a contract exactly what you want and your expectations of the results. If there is a subtraction(s) or addition(s) to the contract, have it noted on the original contract with any price change(s). You and the contractor should sign or intitial the change(s). The contractor will appreciate this, and there will be no misunderstandings. Onward to my next service contractor. Thank you Thumbtack for being there.

Had a good experience with these guys. We were doing a hexagon back-splash which can be tricky. We bought the tile we wanted and they did the rest. They did a very nice job and worked around our schedule. Very nice, friendly and helpful. Overall we would recommend these guys to anyone looking for tile project help.

The first thing they did is tear out everything in the old bathroom and repaired the ceiling and anything else that needed fixing. After that was done I had a shower plumbed into the wall. Once that was done, they put tile from the tub to the ceiling. I wanted 3 shelves integrated into the tile and they were able to do that and make it look absolutely wonderful. After that was completed, they started on the floor. One of the things I really like about the tile on the floor, is they didn't do end pieces at the doorway so that it has a better look to it. I also requested that the tile be installed 3 feet up the wall for a way to protect the walls from splashing. This was all accomplished in about a two week period which was great. I absolutely love the look of my new bathroom and I get a lot of compliments on it. I have recommended them to several people. They even went as far as helping me pick out the tile and suggested some ways they could add some design to it. They were great

Worked very quickly and was by far the best value/quote I received. Note, I suggest making sure your floor is level if you can. I did not level my floor and some of the tiling did suffer a little. This was my fault and Falcon Tile did a great job considering the lack of a level floor. Highly recommend.

We hired CM Industries to do all of the finish work on our new house. We were under time constraints to meet our deadline and get everything done. Clark was upfront about how long everything should take and he followed through with that timeline. The finish work he did included laying the hardwood floor and tile, doing all of the casing, painting the whole house, doing all of the shelving throughout the closets in the house, hanging the doors, and putting our indoor stair-railing in. Clark has a great attention to detail and through every part of the job he talked with me to make sure he was doing it like I wanted, and that it was quality work. I can honestly say that without Clark we would not have met our deadlines and ended up with such a beautiful house. I am so impressed with the work Clark did and how kind and respectful he and his crew were. I would hire Clark again in a heartbeat, and I would feel confident recommending him to my friends and family.

The quality of work surpassed all expectations. He was able to accomplish all the work in the timeline he had given at the beginning. The tile work he did in our house looks better than what I have seen in others houses that they paid much more for. I recommend them to everyone I know.

Brett Nelson with M.A.H.N. Construction did our master bathroom remodel. We chose him in part because of how much creativity and design ideas he brought to our project before we even decided on his company. He took a lot of time with us going over remodeling ideas, colors, tiles, etc. until we had a very clear vision of what the project would be. He even hooked us up with a very talented custom cabinet maker who build a showcase vanity and cupboard for the project. It looks beautiful and we have Brett to thank for it. Brett brought the project in on budget, was very patient with changes, tracked everything thoroughly and accounted for every dollar. He worked on the job until we were 100% satisfied. We recommend M.A.H.N Construction based on our experience.

Worth every penny! Not only did they clean my tile shower and make it look brand new again, but it’s now sealed (with a lifetime warranty I might add) so I don’t have to get it cleaned every year! Yahoo!! The owners are so nice and always made me feel so comfortable with the process. They are not pushy and their product speaks for itself. Water literally RUNS off the tile and within seconds of turning the shower off it is almost dry. I cannot wait to get them back to clean and seal my granite countertops! I would recommend this company to anyon

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.
