Paul and Stephanie are a lovely team that have been our go-to team in the Seattle area for amazing food and a lovely dining experience. We first met and hired them in 2012 for our wedding for 100 guests, and have since then used them on several occasions for private dining catering for my husband and myself. They are a very professional team that create some of the most unique and delicious dishes I've ever had. We worked closely with them to create a special gastro-pub style menu for our wedding, but have since given them free reign to develop their own menus as a surprise for us and we've never, ever been anything short of amazed at the quality and uniqueness of the meals they've prepared. What's even more amazing to me is that getting to work with such a friendly team that can produce such high quality meals can still be really affordable. For what they bring to the table (no pun intended ;) ), you'd be hard pressed to find a better team to work with.
Our company christmas party was held on a private yacht cruising Puget Sound and Chantel prepared a wonderful meal for our party of 24. Everyone was happy with the food and personal service she provided. Her homemade cheesecake was fab.
Nola catered our family-style wedding banquet with such flare and grace, we and our guests were in complete awe all through the meal. The food itself was phenomenally delicious; every bite was worth savoring. From her friendly, direct demeanor, to the cheerful staff, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. She pulled off the event with a comfortable elegance and practiced hand that fit our personal style just perfectly. Among many other notably considerate things, she even worked around the summer heat, keeping our individually-sized cakes out of the sun, and made sure iced beverages were available in ample quantities. Our guests still rave about her, and we can't help but agree. Even "behind the scenes," her prices were reasonable, and her estimates thorough. She was also very accommodating of our guests' serious food allergies when creating the menu. We are so appreciative of everything she did for us both before and after the event, and we look very much forward to having her at our next soiree!
I recently had Bobby prepare a small dinner party for my husband's birthday. From the moment I contacted him, he was prompt with his replies and took the time to answer my questions. His ideas for the menu were great and he was receptive to any changes or additions that I requested. On the day of our meal, Bobby was awesome. He prepared a wonderful meal while carrying on an interesting conversation with all of us. We learned some useful tips from him. The food was expertly prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. My husband highly recommends trying Bobby's bread pudding. The other part of Bobby's service is cleaning up the kitchen and doing all the dishes. It was really nice to not have to worry about any of that and he did a great job. I would highly recommend Bobby Greene to anyone thinking about using an in-home chef. He is the best!!
I am from Montreal visiting some friends in Seattle who had a baby a few weeks ago. As a gift to them we decided to hire a private chef to come in and cook a meal for us in their home so that we wouldn't have to worry about going out with a new born baby to a nice dinner. That is how I stumbled upon Thumbtack and Ken. Dinner was absolutely delicious and Ken is fantastic and very personable! Everything was such a breeze. He came up with a perfect menu and executed beautifully. If I could have him cook for me back home on a weekly basis I would! Thank you so much Ken you made the night a perfect one! I'm so busy working a 9-5 and also being a full time musician that I have been living on fast food! Without enough time to plan meals, and having no idea what I should and shouldn't be eating these days, I hired Brett to take care of that (and BOY did she!?). Not only was she professional and on time (which is rare for us musicians 😂) but she didn't just give me a "run of the mill" meal plan. She discussed with me my eating habits and schedule and (for lack of a better word) designed a meal plan for me that was not only healthy, BUT DELICIOUS! I desperately tried to click on 6 out of 5 stars but instead my computer just yelled at me! WILL RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!
Chef David Boyd- Private Chef-Down to Earth Cuisine "Delicious, organic, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated dishes"- On August 7th I hired Private Chef David Boyd to prepare an Italian Dinner for 10 in my home. (I had offered the "Italian Dinner for 8" as an auction item not knowing at the time who I would hire) He (and his lovely wife, also hired to assist him) arrived at 1pm to begin cooking for the 5:30pm event. Earlier in the week, we met to decide on the menu, appropriate tableware and wine/beverage pairings for the 5 course menu. We went with a Northern Italian theme featuring peaches because they were in season and seafood. I handled the purchase of the wine and cocktail ingredients but paid half of the per person food cost up front so that he could do all the grocery shopping which he did using local fish/meat stores and organically grown fruit and veggies from our area farmers market. He also arrived with all of his own knives and most utensils needed though he did use my mixing bowls and cookware. The entire meal was then prepared in our kitchen. Because he makes everything from scratch like croutons, mayonnaise, sugared garnish for the dessert etc. it is very time consuming, labor intensive and requires full use of your kitchen. He and his wife worked hard and fast for the 4.5 hours before guests arrived. They were conscientious and they cleaned and emptied the garbage etc. as they went. The result was delicious, organic, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated dishes that my husband and I were proud to serve to our guests. I would suggest discussing the estimated prep time for individual menu items as well as the per person cost ahead of time. Chef David seems capable of working within any reasonable budget, but he does require a lot of prep time if you choose complex menu items so that factors into his hourly rate. I think the dinner cost me more than what guests paid at the auction but that's totally my fault for not being more clear about my budget and for suggesting such complex ideas like an appetizer of scallops served in some sea shells I had. All in all, it was a very impressive, well paced, 5 course meal, and my guests enjoyed hearing Chef David explain the details of each delicious course as it was served. It was so nice to be able to just relax and enjoy my guests rather than stress about the food and clean-up. A really fun experience! We operate Kruger Escapes, an adventure sailing charter business based in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. Two years ago we established a partnership with Nichole of Island Chef Services. In preparation for each of our sailing trips, we provide Nichole with detailed food surveys from each of our guests. Nichole then works her magic, always demonstrating incredible thoughtfulness, planning, preparation and execution. From the food surveys, she prepares detailed menu plans, shops for all the food, then fully preps each meal (for up to seven days!). As a final step she provides us with detailed instructions on how to finish preparing each meal and plate it beautifully. This relationship allows us to quickly prepare and serve freshly cooked meals while underway AND maintain a gourmet food experience for our guests that is specifically catered to their tastes. On every sailing trip with Nichole's food, our guests express delight over the menu and surprise at just how much delicious food is on board the boat. Our guests' comments include statements like, "How did she know my favorite dinner?!", "This is beautiful!" or "This is our most favorite way to eat. We want to meet Nichole!" On a smaller scale, last Christmas we hired Nichole to make an apple pie for our family dinner. My dad is NOT easy to impress with pie, and apple is his favorite. It was a little heartbreaking to have to tell him I wasn't the one who baked the pie he was so happy with... and then he kept saying, "This Nichole really knows how to bake an apple pie." We love you Nichole!!
We love Patty's food as well as her customer service! She works with us to come up with monthly meal plans that suit our dietary needs and desires and our busy schedule. It's amazing how much time she saves us, freeing us up to focus on work and leisure :) Patty is talented and versatile and has great professional integrity. She always provides a range of choices that cover different cooking styles, and she tracks our favorite dishes while each month suggesting something new that she is excited to make for us. She discusses every aspect of the pricing with us and makes sure that we love every dish that we order from her. Patty is also very well-organized, something that has impressed us since the beginning. She is a great communicator and is very flexible with our complicated schedule. We are lucky to have found her!
Shauna provided the food for my wedding on Orcas Island over Labor Day weekend. The venue was quite literally a farm by the water and with limited storage, heat sources, or water, but she and her team pulled off the most memorable, delicious, and picture perfect meals I could have dreamed of. All of my guests were wowed by the preparation and flavors of all the food. I would highly recommend Shauna's services for any event, large (my 150 person destination wedding) or small (a fun evening seafood broil for 6) .... Cheers!
We hired Sue for a private party for a small group. She was collaborative on the menu and helped us with all the prep for the evening. She was on time. Very professional and pleasant. The food was delicious. Would definitely recommend her to others.
Chef Bert responded to my Thumbtack request with a thorough presentation of what his company has to offer, assuring me that they have worked our venue many times. I am the Mother of the Bride and was confident that Chef Bert was a good candidate to cater my daughters wedding. My daughter and her fiance met with Chef Bert and were impressed with his experience and personality. As part of the decision process, Chef Bert offers an amazing, dinner for 6 in your own home, to try the food of your choice, prior to the wedding. Bert and his assistant Ron, arrived an hour and a half before dinner, dressed in tuxedos and ready to cook. The table was stunning. From the appetizers to the salad to the main course, the food was absolutely one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. Not only is he a talented Chef, Bert is a kind and funny man. We are all looking forward to working with him and his staff (not to mention, eating his food again!)at my daughter's wedding in July. I will write an update after the wedding and let you know how it went.
I have been a guest at several private dinner parties catered by Jen from the Salted Fig. These parties are by invitation only and promise a culinary journey you won't forget- and they deliver! Jen's menus are creative, cohesive, and absolutely delicious. The meals always feel so personal and nurturing, like she knew exactly what I wanted to eat, even though she is cooking for 20 of us. I would highly recommend The Salted Fig for any catering needs, especially if you are looking to serve up quality, excellence, and passion with every bite!

I had a simple meal. It was a cheeseburger with a side of fries; but it was one of the best meal I ever had. The burger itself was nice and juicy, the bun was buttery and toasted perfectly. The veggies weren't overbearing, and the ratio of meat to bread to veggies were near perfect. I will definitely be eating from LLola's again.
I have worked with Melody on several different occasions and absolutely adore her and her work. Melody caters to my wants and very specific dietary needs (I am a gluten-free, vegan who also loves raw food), and everything she makes tastes like heaven! I am impressed by her attention to detail and her ability to make simple food taste so amazing. She has created special desserts and meals for me that have completely blown me away. And her cheesecake is absolutely decadent; you would never know that it is actually good for you too! Melody has catered small events at my home and is such a joy to work with. My friends love her creations and I will be hiring her for many more occasions. She is even making my wedding cake!
Cierra Laub, Jarod Johnson, and Ash Candelario catered our wedding in August 2014. We had about 150 people to feed. The variety of dishes they prepared was wonderful. We had vegans, vegetarians, and others with no food specifications and there was something for everyone. My husband, our guests, and I were impressed with the quality of the food and service provided. Everything was refilled in a timely manner so no one was ever waiting to eat what they liked. The price to quality ratio for the food was very affordable. We had a budget and they did an amazing job to work within and even under that. We would have them cater again without hesitation.
I took a cooking class from Debbie. She had prepped her supplies before class, which made the class run smoothly. As she progressed through the recipes she explained why she used a certain ingredient and told us what other choices we might have. Debbie's cooking skills seem so effortless! There were no "stupid" questions, Debbie felt that ALL questions were equally important. At the end of the class we all sat down to enjoy a delicious, well presented meal. Debbie is delightful and has an absolute love of cooking.
