Bree was very professional, easy to get along with, and accommodating to my needs. We hired her for bith photography and wedding planning for thr day of the wedding, and she handled everything with professionalism while helping me to feel confident about putting my wedding in her hands. She was great at crowd management and keeping things flowing in a timely manner. I had a sneek peek at a few photos, and anxiously await the final product!

Excellence from the beginning to end. After our first caterer stopped communicating with us, ECC&C stepped in and saved the day. The combination of quality service and product, effective communication and friendliness really made our wedding spectacular.

One of the best choices we’ve decided to make. Jan did an excellent job at our summer wedding. We were worried about the thought of booking a stranger online, but he is very responsive and doesn’t leave you hanging throughout the entire process. We gave him a list of songs to work with and asked him add a few that he sees fit. It turned out wonderful!!! Excellent taste. Very comedic but not overwhelming. Our guests loved him. Thanks for making our day special Jan! - Myka and Aaron

Alex was lovely to work with. He gave us exactly what we asked for and delivered our pictures so quickly. He was unobtrusive at the wedding and yet captured so many special moments that really conveyed not only the aesthetic of the day but also all the emotion. He is an artist with the camera... Great quality images, lots of smiles and loads of soul. We would highly recommend Alex after such a memorable experience. Thank you Alex!!

Our wedding at The High Alpine Chapel was beautiful. The setting and scenery was just gorgeous and exactly what I had wished for. Working with Jeanne was great, she has a lot of experience, is very professional and she had so many examples and ideas for the ceremony and made it really easy to combine our ideas into the ceremony that worked for us. She also was very easy going and calming, which is always nice while planning your wedding:)

Greg was fantastic. We needed a videographer as well as photographer for our wedding and he was able to facilitate both. He had great ideas for pictures including thoughtful backdrops and lighting. Greg was a true professional. Greg took the time to edit our video and paired it to music. We are super pleased with the whole package and have great pics and video to remember our beautiful day. I'm confident you will be happy with the end results. Thank you Greg!

Debbie did an amazing job on the cake pops and cup cakes for my wedding. They were beautiful and delicious—better than I imagined they’d be, with their nautical themed decorations. I would absolutely go to her again for any future baking needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
