We started using Mike's services when we switched elementary schools last September. Our son was just beginning Common Core and we wanted to make sure he could keep up with the rest of the class as he is one of the youngest kids. Mike's lessons on basic math skills--such as place value, equations, counting money and telling time--have been an invaluable part of our son's academic success. Mike also makes math fun and interesting for our son--so much so that he looks forward to Mike's visits. He is friendly and knowledgeable and easy to schedule. We want to note that we had tried another tutor last summer. In the 12 weeks we used her (multiple times each week), our son did not progress much at all. That was the main reason we looked around for another tutor. (That and the fact that our son was starting to hate math.) Instead of multiple weekly sessions, it's one weekly in-depth session. Mike's background, skills and experience as a tutor are clearly evident. We highly recommend him.
Joyee Lin of Thinque has been nothing short of amazing. Professional with results to show. My daughter started working with Joyee a couple of months ago. Within six lessons, my daughter's composite ACT score went from a 28 prior to working with Joyee to a 32. Amazingly, her science score went from a 25 to a 32. Those numbers are the end result of Joyee's professional approach to teaching. During the lesson, Joyee utilizes a number of methods to present the material. It must be said that my daughter took his instruction seriously and worked hard on the material which was provided to her. The result was a good example of team work in which my daughter could receive, in addition to immediate instruction, quick review and understanding after working through the material. Joyee makes it easy to work around a busy lifestyle as he schedules and responds to correspondence promptly. We can't offer him enough praise. Joyee is offering an amazing service and we were so glad to have been referred to him.
I am not one to leave a ton of reviews for services and I have had mixed success with Thumbtack, but I think this man is an unsung hero!!! My daughter has struggled in math for years, since grammar school, and is now in 8th grade. She continued to struggle with a different tutor. We have been working once a week with Mr. Matlak now for about six weeks and the difference is simply amazing. She just got her first "A" in a math quiz since grammar school and we both nearly cried in relief and joy. The two most important things about him - he KNOWS the concepts cold (some tutors DON'T), and he is PATIENT. I came to the conclusion that my daughter simply would not get the pace of learning or individualized attention in the public school setting that she needs for this particular topic. She is doing well in other topics but math is her Achilles heel. I didn't have the patience (or the knowledge) to help much and it became a source of frustration for both of us. It is such a RELIEF to see her more confident and not stressed about math now!! I can't say enough good things about Mr. Matlak. He promptly answered my inquiries, quickly provided two references who gave glowing reviews, and we are so happy to have him. We didn't want to go the Sylvan or other company routes - Mr. Matlak comes to your home, sits down with your student, and gets to work. I can't believe I did not invest in my child's future earlier in her school career - it is well worth it. We do an hour a week and it has made a VAST difference. I have no relation to Mr. Matlak (other than to sing his praises) and I would be happy to provide anyone interested with additional comments. Update April 22, 2015: Our daughter continues to work with Ray weekly and is now pulling a "B" average, coming up from the "D" average she was pulling when we started. Not struggling and spending so much time on math has allowed her to focus on her other classes and encouraged her to bring her other grades up as well as she prepares to enter high school. We couldn't be more pleased to see our daughter's confidence growing with respect to math. We'll keep him through COLLEGE if he's willing!! All kidding aside, Ray is well worth the investment, even if your budget calls for less frequent tutoring sessions.
Physics lessons with Tran was very well done. I'm doing much better in my college class now, I'm going to call elite if I need more help. Thanks Tran
Dea Gad been tutoring my son in Math for a few months now. He had improved his grade and has made good progress. She’s very punctual and responsible. She’s knowledgeable in the subject matter and will accommodate changing her schedule when he has tests. I would highly recommend her. FYI my son is a junior in high school and that’s the math she’s helping him with.
Jonathan is approachable and patience. My daughter is 11 years old and is currently preparing to take the ISEE (Independent Schools Entrance Exam) in December 2016. This is her first experience with getting one-on-one tutorial help for the language art portion of the test. After just a few tutoring session, she has so much more confidence in approaching the essay portion of the test. Jonathan's methodology teaches her how to systematically approach each essay prompt as well as how to capture the reader's attention quickly. As for the reading comprehension portion of the test, he is helping her to find a pattern of where the test questions would likely be derived from the reading passages. Currently, her reading test practice score improves tremendously. She is able to read the passages and potentially predict the potential areas of importance. In addition, Jonathan also reviews the strategies of how to take standardized test. My daughter looks forward to every tutorial lesson because she knows that she can improve her ISEE test score.
She is a great amazing teacher . I enjoy her writing lessons a lot. Never regret to take lessons with her. She taught me different writing styles and loads of grammar. The lessons are fun too. Thank you May Chaisakulchai
I have two children that are tutoring with Nancy. My children were behind in school but after tutoring with Nancy they are making leaps and bounds in their academic studies. Nancy is very professional, fun, engaging, and patient. We're happy to have found her. Thank you Nancy!
We found Andrea through another site and initially only signed up one of your kids with her. She convinced our other three kids to switch to Andrea. After talking with our kid's teacher, we agreed that Andrea was a better choice for English than our usual tutors. Because we were adding three more kids, Andrea offered ways to save us time and money. She doesn't give discounts, but she is always thinking about ways to meet our needs better for the same money or less. She also offered to set up a custom course for our 4 kids, including our recent grad, to improve their essay writing skills. We were even able to add three cousins, but I had to be the adult contact to make it practical. Our teens are looking forward to taking this course together, and Andrea is designing activities for them to do between sessions so they can get even more out of the course. Because it takes a lot of Andrea's time outside of teaching hours, the pricing is different than with tutoring. For a highly customized program, it's a great deal. One of the surprises we got when we started working with Andrea is that she trained her genius son from childhood to tutor. He's amazing and now works with every one of our kids in math, science, and test prep. He works with college students too, and so we're going to have our recent grad work with him in the first year of college tp get off to a good start. At first, I was surprised at how little I had to do once Andrea and Lander were working with my kids. I almost felt as though something was wrong because I was used to having to do so much to make sure everyone was on track. For this, she does almost everything directly with the students rather than going through the parents. She has them show parents plans and give input and approve, but she does it in a way that takes very little parent time. Simply put, she doesn't need parents' help because she's a real teacher and like other real teachers she works directly with her students. So be prepared to let go and let her do her job. She won't even let you do what students are supposed to do in her system. I've noticed that as I've let our kids work with Andrea and Lander, our kids have taken ownership of their programs and communicate better with teachers. They keep better track of their own schedules and seem more mature. We sought out Andrea because we had a student who hated working with their current tutor. We found a one stop solution for 90% of our tutoring needs. By working with Lander and Andrea via Google Hangout, we have saved untold hours in traffic, money that would have been spent on gas, parking, and eating out, and energy. My kids are more rested, happier, and more confident about school. They are also thrilled with their improved grades, as are we. While I was reluctant to review Andrea for fear they would not have hours for us, she explained that the less time she spent reaching out to new customers when her students graduated, the more time she'd have for us. She also gives existing customers first dibs on available hours. You do have to pay in advance to get times reserved, which is fair. We made a choice to sell one of our vehicles to schedule our kids through the end of the year. I was arid to do that in case anyone got sick, but when I looked the rapid progress my kids have made, I realized that it was a false economy to go with a lower quality tutor. Andrea says that she's only had one student in two years miss due to illness and due to the nature of that chose to make accommodations. She pointed out that the way she works, missing a session is not really an issue and I agree for many reasons I won't list here. We are very happy with how this is turning out, and we're noticeably all les stressed out about school than we were before. Having two fulltime, highly experienced teachers for our kids to work with on a guaranteed schedule is beyond what we'd ever thought we could find. If Andrea accepts your kids into her program, nurture that relationship so it's easy for her to keep them on. This is her fulltime job and Lander's fulltime job, so they tend to hand pick their clients. She'll always treat you well, but to keep her you have to treat her well too. All you have to do is be considerate by respecting the written agreement so that she can focus on your kids and not on you. That takes getting used to, but it's the way it should be. For example, she wouldn't take my brother's kids because my sister-in-law insisted on doing things in a way that wouldn't be realistic for Andrea without her charging a lot more. But, when I offered to be the adult contact, she took them. Right now, they are just coming off a waiting list since their seniors are graduating. So, they probably have at least some availability for summer and maybe some for fall. Grab what you can.
Mrs.Khan is awesome! She always has a lot of different books and stuff for each lesson. Because of her great experience and knowledge every lesson is interesting and informative. I'm very greatful to her!
I had several students in my special ed program participate in CogMed via Zoom. My students enjoyed working with the coaches at Skills for School Success. After the sessions were completed, we saw growth in many areas including improved focus, work habits, and even penmanship. The general education teacher also reported seeing areas of growth. Skills for School Sucess coaches were professional, friendly, and committed to seeing my students grow and improve. I highly recommend Skills for School Success to help students improve working memory which positvely impacts many facets of academics growth.
Mazi from Top Tier Tutoring helped me Ace all of my General and Organic Chemistry classes for Medical School an helped me score in the 90th percentile on the MCAT. I truly owe my admission to David Geffen School of medicine at UCLA to Mazi. He really is informed and insightful on every field in science. But most of all he is the most caring and helpful individual when it comes to tutoring. I would have been lost if it were not for Mazi.
My 5 yr old daughter has improved a lot in her reading and writing since starting Study Pals. They were very accommodating to our schedule and matched us with a great tutor! She makes the lessons easy to understand and engaging!
I have observed Emily tutoring students several times. She helps students understand academic theories and encourages them to find the correct answer on their own. Emily gives the students rewards for completing assignments and good behavior, making the experience more enjoyable for them.
Mr. Klaif was the Director of an after school program that my son attended throughout elementary and middle school (he will be entering college in the fall). Mr. Klaif engaged the kids in activities that were mentally and physically challenging. His interaction with kids is awesome! My son thrived under Mr. Klaif's care. I would highly recommend his services!!
a great experience for someone looking to improve their english proficiency for college. i was referred by a friend to this school, and she told me this is what they specialize in. but they also great for working professionals hoping to improve their English too. their teachers and staff are what makes this school great.
My 8 year old daughter has been tutoring with Patt for 2 years now and she loves going. She is doing so well in school and her grades have improved. Her scores were top in her class. she is above her levels in many of her subjects. If you need a caring and patient person to help your child with their studies she is a great person.
Very user friendly in working with our schedule. First meeting left high school student inspired and ignited enthusiasm for her Spanish class as the school year is winding down.
I am so thankful for the teacher here at Key 2 Success! In the beginning, I struggled in my Chemistry class because I had no idea what was going on. However, after getting a few lessons from the teacher, my test grade significantly improved and I was able to get an A first semester. In second semester, I received higher than 95% on every test. Key 2 Sucess is literally key to success because the teacher explains concepts detailed and clear. If you feel like you don't understand the materials, you should definitely try This! Key 2 Success also teaches math and other science classes! Thank you for helping me!!!
Purvi is a fantastic math tutor, She tutors my 7th grader son. She is extremely knowledgeable, organized, patient and has the ability to break down the lessons so that the information makes complete sense! I highly recommend her.
Mary is a wonderful tutor. She has a Master Degree and she is also a US Navy veteran. She is tough but she is good and will help the kid on track with their education. She is currently tutor my daughter who is in high school both Saturday and Sunday for 2 hours each day. Mary is very good with math, English, and Geometry. She help kids from all ranges of ages even up to high school. She helps my daughter preparing for her SAT now so she can get a good score and get a scholarship for her college after she graduated high school. Mary is also very flexible with her tutor schedule and willing to work with parents and student to ensuring a win-win for all. My daughter is very blessed to have her as a private tutor. Also, her pricing is very reasonable. Again, Mary is all about helping the students do well in school. She has a big heart and passion for helping kids. If you need a private tutor who will come to your house and help you tutor your children, Mary is the right choice. Call her and find out what option is right for you.
