I hired A/R Investment Construction to remodel my master bath. It turned out wonderfully. Thereafter, I hired them for several other projects including my kitchen and several drywall projects. They do everything from electrical to plumbing, painting, plaster and drywall. Very happy to have met them.

Damani from Tanka Drywall came on time and did a beautiful job, even better than I had hoped for. He repaired a small area in my garage where I had drove into the wall and cracked it, and also repaired some drywall upstairs as well as the window sill. Excellent work and very nice young man. He is a perfectionist so he pays attention to detail which I appreciate! Prices very good!

I cannot give enough stars for these guys!!!! Needed to have someone cut up carpet remnants in my basement and remove them which included hauling to the dump. I'll start from the beginning. They were very prompt in response to my quite. Not only did they offer the best pricing but they explained in detail the reason for the pricing which told me they weren't trying to gouge me. They offered to text me an hour before our appointment time to remind me that they were on their way and held true to their promise to do so. They were so kind and respectful while at home home and again took the time to explain in detail what they were doing. They asked permission to plug in their tools to use for the job prior to getting to work. When the job was completed they cleaned up everything like they weren't even there. Once they were done they even asked if they could help with anything else. I will absolutely be calling these guys again for home project needs!!!! You cannot go wrong with choosing them!

Very satisfied with the quality of work. Everything that was agreed upon was executed as described. Very responsive, committed and polite. I would definitely recommend Fischer Constructions to everyone. I needed the basement window removed so I can get the drywall in. After that, I needed it replaced back in. No issues whatsoever.

Elisa DiMondo worked at my home in Akron Ohio on a regular basis for five years. She did painting cleaning and remodeling work with her father. She was very skilled and organized and a very hard worker. She showed up on time and worked long hours. She had a key to my home and was there working many times alone when no one was home. I can recommend her without reservations and I must say that Colorado's gain is Ohio's loss. If there are any questions regarding this individual my number is in the Akron Ohio phonebook. Leave a message and I will get back to you. Thomas F. Bear MD

Details, details, details. We're sticklers for them and Reese is too. From super-clean edges on ceilings and baseboards to meticulous organization and daily clean-up, we were thoroughly impressed with the entire process. Not only was the work exceptional but we were able to discuss color ideas, accent wall suggestions and other interior choices with an expert willing to share his years of experience. From elegant warm gray through the majority of the house to a bright, playful palette to match our son's Nerf gun collection, every room now has the personality we were hoping for. We felt like we received a great value for our investment and are happy to walk into a house that finally feels like home! We've already been referring RH painting to our friends and neighbors. So go ahead and hire Reese – you won't be disappointed.

Hunter came and gave us competitive bid on painting our 1600 square foot apartment. Elk Horn Won Our Business and they started and completed entire project "on time" without any problems. Elk Horn Painting has Great Communication throughout entire project. The painting crew went "above and beyond" as there were a few holes that needed attention. I would highly recommend using Elk Horn Painting & Hunter Miller again on future projects!

I had a great experience working with Frank on a recent painting project. We had just bought a house and budget was tight, but Frank worked with us on the cost and provided practical advice. Since we weren't able to be at the house to let him in, I simply gave him a key so he could come and go freely during the project period, even when we were not around, which sped up the delivery. This level of trust between a customer and a contractor is important to me. Everything was done to satisfaction and I plan to do many more projects with Frank in coming months.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.
