I needed part of a chain link fence removed and replaced. George did the ordering and pick up and also got the bag I needed to discard the fencing. He was prompt and did a wonderful job. He also helped me with a hole I needed fixed on the roof. He went above and beyond helping me. I have a couple more things that I will be calling him for. George is your man if you need help!

Dry guys roofers are a very honest company! They came out to my home and checked in my attic and determined that my roof itself was in good shape ! I just needed the problem area cleaned of debris and leaves so that the roof could drain properly ! They went ahead and cleaned the area and ran water on roof to make sure it drained into the gutter properly with after cleaning it did! These men were very professional and did not even want to charge me for the service done ! If you need a honest and professional roofer Dry Guys is the company for you! I know when I am in the need of a new roof or repair I will give them a call!

David came over to my house for an estimate, he was very professional. He didn't give me the hard sell or anything like that.He gave me an estimate that I couldn't afford, so he worked it out and saved me $1,600.00. I hired him on the spot and I look forward to my new roof. I know I've made the right choice.

I was contacted almost immediately after my inquiry on Thumbtack. Kevin came out the next day and emailed quote. I called and left message for him, and he called back within the hour and answered all my questions clearly and concisely, no games. I had received quotes from 4 other roofers and chose Bay to Bay for their no-nonsense, professional, prompt service and communication. The work was scheduled and completed within 3 business days of scheduling. It rained right after the repair was complete, and it was a great test--no more leaking! Other companies wanted to either repair the whole roof, or remove large chunks and replace (flat roof). I was happy with Kevin's explanation that the leak was only in the transition with the shingled roof. The roof was just 10 years old, and this seemed most appropriate. Thanks for great, honest service!

Barry and Dario did an excellent job. I had a roof leak in a couple of places. They were very patient with my 1000 questions and explained the process to repair. They gave a fair estimate (the best price I got), they showed up on time, did the work right, and repaired my roof. The roof now looks great and we have had absolutely no leaks. Barry followed up with photos and video of the work since you cannot really see under the tile once the work is complete. I highly recommend these guys and I will use them again.

Brian was great with explaining everything we needed done. Kenny and his crew worked three days in a row with hardly any breaks. Cleaned constantly throughout the day and before they went home double check all around the house and drive way for nails. Roof looks wonder. Deanne in the office is lovely. Thank you all. We highly recommend Castle Roofing.

Great communication, very personable right off the bat. While I didn't have a leak like I originally thought, Brad took the extra time to educate me on the real issue. We didn't need to hire him, but he treated us as if we did. Brad's, "my roof dude" now because I trust his honesty, and will defiantly hire his services should we have problems in the future.

We just moved into a fixer-upper in the Clearwater area & a new roof was our priority. Daniel spoke to my husband & I w/ professionalism and a complete knowledgeable representation of Castle roofing & what he had to offer us was completely FREE of charge!! The confidence Daniel had in himself & Castle roofing sold us on giving him the opportunity to file our claim. The transaction was seamless & stress free. We were so impressed how quick we had our new roof it wasn't even 3 weeks from the date Daniel filed our claim. Only out of pocket expense was of course our deductible. 💯 % satisfied customers. Thank you Daniel!

Precision was recommended by a friend. I can understand why now. They were able to start my roof within a week of giving me an estimate. They completed my entire roof in two days. Not sure if that’s normal but I was impressed. They were very knowledgeable in what products to use and helped me pick colors. I would absolutely recommend Precision.

Jeff came out to give me a quote for a new roof and told me about Nutech products. I was very interested and we had our roof restored. It looks great and my electric bill seems to be lower. Also, my patio area isn't nearly as hot as it used to be. In the afternoon you used to be able to feel heat coming down from the ceiling, but now it's cool and shady!

Doug and his team of professionals were amazing to deal with through the duration of the project. Emails were answered, phone calls returned and questions were always thoroughly and promptly responded to. In general, the job they did was exceptional, but in my opinion, the communication is what sets them apart from all other contractors I have had work on my house(s) over the years.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
