Wendy was great. She taught my daughter skills to help her tackle the questions on the ACT that she didn't learn in school yet. She helped her improve her individual scores as well as her cumulative score.
Jeff was working with my son on getting ready for ACT this year. My son is a junior at high school. He is a good student, however, wasn't satisfied with his initial ACT score. We found Jeff through Thumbtack based on customer reviews. I'm glad we did. After several lessons with Jeff, my son's ACT score went 5 points up. Jeff is great about building lessons around subjects and topics that require more attention. The test taking strategies that he teaches are definitely very helpful. Jeff is very punctual and responsible. He was willing to accommodate my son's busy schedule. I highly recommend Jeff to students (and parents) who are looking for help with ACT and SAT.
She really worked with my son to see how he learned and customized her approach to the lessons.
1-on-1 lessons with Cristobal were very helpful and I feel that I learned a lot.
My daughter worked with Robin and my son with Steve. Both kids had a fantastic experience and increased their reading comprehension and speed. It's been over 3 years since completing their programs and I'm confident the lessons still help them achieve greater success in school. I recommend Robin, Steve and this program to anyone who wants to become a strong reader.
Thank you so much Ramona! I would not have managed statistic classes without your help. Her private math classes helped me graduate from school and even from university. I can truly recommend working with Ramona. She is the best help I could have ever imagine and her classes are absolutely worth the money. I also recommended her classes to a few friends and they all gave positive feedback. Please let me know if you need more detailed information.
My 8th grader and sophomore are both being tutored for Math and Mike has been a great help. Even after just a couple sessions I can see that my children are more confident in the subject. He's taught them to understand more in depth what they are being taught in school.
Todd Katz was a fantastic mentor. He guided me through my first year of teaching, helping me develop new and creative ways to assess students and plan lessons. To this day, his lessons and strategies are still some of the most interesting and engaging I've encountered for both students and teachers alike. He taught me these strategies over the course of one year, and always with a positive attitude. This can be seen through his relationship with students, who are always reverant and engrossed in his classroom. I highly recommend him for any needs or concerns you have in the realm of education.
If your looking for a great tutor look no further! We picked Hntsa to help our son increase his ACT score two points to help him qualify for an academic scholarship. Two points isn't a huge jump, but we only had five weeks to prepare and the last two ACT tests resulted in the same score. After reading Hntsa's background information and reviews we decided to give him a call. It was the best decision we ever made. Hntsa is intellectual, methodical, patient, and insightful. He took the time to really understand our son's strengths and weaknesses so that he could use that information to develop a tutoring plan that was specific to our son. The resources that he had available were abundant up to and including a watch to help keep track of time when doing a practice a test or taking it live. Hntsa also understands how the test is put together, how it works, and the best way to attack it. He also know how to speak to teens in a way that is not condescending. Our son increased his composite score by three points and his STEM score by four! Now, our son put in a lot of effort to get that score, but he never would have done it on his own. We already tried. He needed someone like Hntsa. A tutor that was genuinely interested in him not just as a student, but as a person. It's rare to find people who love what they do so much that their enthusiasm rubs off on you! That's what happened with my son and I think the learning lessons that Hntsa gave my son will stay with him beyond the ACT test. We are eternally grateful for everything he did. You will be too.
Kevin is the most outstanding tutor I have ever met or even ever spoken with. He is a retired physician who had great teachers during his career and now works with students to try and have a positive influence on their lives. My son did both high school Math and Science tutoring with him AND also did ACT test preparation with him. My son's ACT scores went from 24 before working with Kevin to 33 after working with him for just 3 months! I cannot speak more highly of him. If you want your son or daughter to really excel - you better at least meet with this guy! Darren G. Northbrook, IL
I worked with Andrew many times during the 2016-17 school year to prepare for my ACT test. Andrew was a great help and I would certainly recommend him to future students! Not only is Andrew extremely knowledgeable, he is also great at explaining and clarifying even the most complex theories and problems. He always made our tutoring sessions engaging and worthwhile, and was always able to help me out. Andrew is a great tutor and extremely enjoyable to work with!
I am proud to write this letter of recommendation for Laura George as the consultant you go to for assistance in writing college essays. Laura had help my son (a graduate of Stevenson High School) with his college essays last year. My son is now attending his first choice university. This is a university with only a 17% acceptance rate. Lauras method was sitting down with my son in a couple of meetings brainstorming and getting him to focus on topics that would give the admission offices a sense of who he is. Lauras approach and dedication had helped to make sure that Tyler stayed focus and produced top notch essays that not only showcased his writing skills but revealed things important about him and his personality that his grades and test scores cant. We owe a great deal to Laura and will definitely use her as a consultant for my daughter in 3 years when she is looking to impress the colleges of her choice with her application essays. Sincerely, V. Kim of Long Grove
We just started, but so far everything has been great!! After each lesson she provides us with good constructive feedback on the kids. The kids also like working with her which makes everything easier.
I had a great experince taking accent reduction lessons with Cindy. She is very clear when teaching the matrials. I am very happy that I learned new ways to sound words that I used to say them wrong.
Eric has helped me improve my writing skills throughout undergrad as a French minor and throughout my first year of law school! I feel comfortable going over my drafts with him because I know he will respectfully tell me how I can improve while helping me be as clear and concise as possible. Practicing French with him is both fun and informative. Whether it's singing traditional French songs together or having everyday conversations, his zest for languages has helped me keep my French alive!
Jessica is an incredibly skilled editor. In about 2 hours she was able to make more sense of my son's 3-page autobiography for his medical school application. Throughout the process she communicated frequently before making changes. Because of the quality of her work, I am using her to edit his personal statement and entries also. I highly recommend Jessica to anyone who needs editing services.
David has been irreplaceable in helping me to prepare for a college level placement exam after several years with no mathematic exposure. He is obviously very passionate about what he does and it translates into the high quality of his tutoring. He gave me access to very intuitive resources and through them I’ve been able to re-learn more about math in a few months than in years during school, as well as doing so at my own pace which is extremely important to me. I really appreciate his patience, flexibility, and professionalism throughout the entire time we have worked together. Would definitely hire again if I need Math assistance in the future and would reccomend him if I knew somebody else who was struggling.
After my son experienced difficulties in reading at school, I made the wise decision to privately hire Mrs. Cheryl Finn to tutor him. I was very pleased with my son's gains, and I sincerely feel this was a direct result of Mrs. Finn's broad experience and expertise! My son's vocabulary, phonetic decoding, and comprehension has dramatically improved, plus his teacher and I are observing a happier, more confident reader.....thanks to Mrs. Finn!
I highly recommend Strategic Tutoring by Mrs. Mack. Financially I am struggling to make ends me but wanted to help my children succeed in school. Since my good friend also had children that needed extra help, Mrs. combined the kids into 2 small groups which gave them the support the needed and kept the hourly fee down. Instead if paying $45 an hour my girlfriend and I spent $28 an hour which was manageable. Mrs. Mack tutored my 9th grade son and my friend's 10th grade daughter together at the Geneva library. She selected reading, writing, and science topics materials that were intetesting to the kids and also pertinent to what they were studying at school. She took the time to talk to the teachers and even was involved in a conference at the school. The kids were very eager to see Mrs. Mack each week so we actually increased the time to 90 minutes a week and I am happy to say after a few sessions the classroom teachers noticed significant improvement in their reading fluency and comprehension even in biology and modern world social studies and this was reflected in their grades and attitude. My younger son in 3rd grade was tutored with my friend's 2nd grade daughter. Mrs. Mack took time journal writing back and forth with both of them secretly working on writing skills which did help to improve their essay and creative writing skills. Her positive attitude and friendly demeanor created a spark in the kids and after about a month they made significant progress in decoding words more automatically, understanding what was being read, increased rate of math computation, and improved writing structure and creativity. The kids actually understand and know how to apply various strategies that Mrs. Mack taught. She spent time with me explaining these strategies and providing me with a "strategy cheat sheet" so that we all ( teachers, parents, tutor) used a common language when guiding or reminding the kids how to solve a problem with reading, writing, or math. Mrs. Mack went beyond what I ever expected in a tutor and her experience with ESL, Special Education, Behavior Disordered, and Gifted students was apparent wben she took initiative to set up some enrichment activites for my 5th grader on her own time!
I am an adult student, going back to school (college) full time after many years absence so needed help with remedial math. I employed Clifton to help me with my algebra and also test prep work. I find him to be patient and thorough in his teaching style, while at the same time pushing me to be better and encouraging me to think, instead of just saying I don't know (which got to me at times, ha,ha), but he was right and the teaching is paying off. I would not have made the strides I have made without his help, and I will forever be grateful for that. Thanks Clifton Henry and keep up the good work!!
