Rich came to the house today to do a full tile and carpet cleaning. The tiles were quite dirty, especially the grout. The carpet was very dirty. They knocked the job out in about 3 hours. The tile looks brand new. The carpet looks better than I thought it would. I will recommend Platinum to anyone who asks. Rich is a very nice person. You get a comfortable feeling from him immediately. All I can say is "Great Job!!"

Diego came to the house and quickly sorted out our problem. He gave me a very good rate for the work and a couple days later he and Jose were all over the roof . It is a steep cement tile roof but they moved about on it quickly and lightly. They had a huge portion of the tile off in no time and were putting the tar paper on within an hour. Additionally Diego recognized a indigenous problem with the roof that he solved to prevent future problems. I was very happy with Disalvo Services.

Dial did an excellent job of cleaning the carpets. The tech showed up on time and completed the job thoroughly and quickly. He could have taken more care to not scuff up my walls with the hose, and leave water on my tile floors when he left, but otherwise the carpet work was well done.

We used Fortune Cleaning for a Move-out, Move-in. Maria, Joe and Robbie were GREAT!! Maria kept in touch after first contact with reminders and they all showed up on time ready to work. They all did a terrific job on our rental from top to bottom. Scrubbed the carpeting and got some soiled areas clean. Cleaned tile floor and grout, which came out great. I would definitely use Fortune Cleaning again.

We are so happy with this team, Adrian and Chantel. ! They arrived promptly for the appointment, got to work immediately and spent 2 1/2 hrs completing the job. I didn’t mention the ottoman as we were going to toss it, it had a few blue stains. Adrian however, cleaned the piece at no additional charge, completely removed the blue stains on a beige background and we’re now keeping it! Lastly.. the care they took in wiping the tile floor in the living room and entry way when the finished the job was an unexpected treat; they left it better than they found it. Do not hesitate hiring sin city scrubbers for your upholstery, carpet, or grout cleaning needs. Top Shelf quality and service. Excellent value! 2 sofas, and all the pillows that go with, seat cushions, and an ottoman.

The company showed up on time, and even wanted to come earlier. We were not there so I had to decline. The carpets in the house needed a good scrubbing and that is exactly what it got. There was one spot that they were unable to remove, but it had been there since we moved in and so we were not too disappointed. The cleaner even did the tile in the kitchen and the entry area for free. Now for the best part. The total time was less than two hours for approximately 2300 sq ft and the cost was only $150.00. I would definitely recommend Do It Right for cleaning your carpets and tile. If I could give them six stars I would. Thank you!

I hired Mike to redo my kitchen and within 2 weeks, Mike and his team replaced all our cabinets, countertop, tile, and backsplash.  From start to finish, Mike was easy to get in contact with and kept us up to date daily.  His team arrived everyday on schedule.  We are very pleased with the work that they completed and would recommend Signature Stone to anybody needing similar work.

From quote to day after service followup, CarpetBusters was responsive to my needs and time requirements for doing the work. Cleaning two rooms of furniture and more than a dozen pillows was tedious and time consuming but done in a thorough manner and detailed manner. The final results made a well used large sectional look new again plus a sofa, ottoman and loveseat. I won't hesitate to call them again for carpets & tile floors. Polite, professional and a great value, I'm a happy guy and I'm not easy to please.

Moved into a house with mediocre tile in the master bathroom. We hired RWSmith Craftsmen to take on the job and couldn't be happier with the results. Very professional, friendly, and have close attention to detail. It was one of our only worries about moving into this home but now that it no more. The bathroom looks great! We definitely plan to hire again in the future if other jobs need to be done.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.
