I originally went to Ky for harmonica lessons in Flagstaff after playing around with the instrument by myself for a couple of years. I wanted to learn how to play music with others. Ky tailored my lessons to me and taught me the basics. He played guitar along with me so I could get used to playing with people.
Soon after, I picked up guitar and decided to see him for that as well. He was a great instructor for guitar too! Even for a complete beginner like me. He was very patient and helped me pick songs to master and skills to work on in areas where I needed improvement. Most of all, the lessons were fun and not frustrating! I walked out of each lesson feeling challenged, but accomplished and excited by the music we played.
Ky is a very talented musician, teacher, and just a really cool, down to earth guy. Check him out!
Dan does a fantastic job working with our daughter. He is kind and patient as she learns, yet knowledgeable and able to challenge her to improve her mandolin skills. His experience and talent is evident throughout the lessons and it inspires our daughter to want to practice on her own.
He also gives her freedom to select music that she is interested in which helps her develop confidence. We so appreciate all the work he has put in, along with his positive attitude.
John took the time to evaluate my skills as well as determine what it was I wanted to learn. We then discussed a lesson plan that would best achieve my goals. John was always patient as well as honest about my progress and what I might do to enhance my own practice style. I never felt rushed, and John never 'watched the clock,' which made learning so much easier for me. Having my own degree in music, as well as 57 years of professional experience, I can recommend John without reservation.
I offer music lessons for many instruments, including the guitar, banjo, Dobro, piano, violin/fiddle, bass, and mandolin.

I also teach mandolin, ukelele, and banjo.
I teach private mandolin lessons, ranging from folk to classical styles.
With my background in music theory and forty years of experience currently with over eighty students, I've developed a very effective method for mapping out harmonic structures to build improvisational skills.
