Giron Roofing provided a competitive bid and started installing my new roof two days after I signed the papers. They were quick and clean. The only way I could tell they had been on my property was the new roof! I will definitely use them the next time I need a roof replaced or repaired.

After 35 years we needed a new roof, Altas Roofing came through like a Champ! Excellent to work with, great price and quality of work we couldn't have been happier with. Our new roof gave the house the look we wanted. Altas Roofing is the only name you need to know when you need a roof. Ask for Ramiro, he is the man you want to work with. The Caseys

Jose and his team did a fantastic job hanging, taping and mudding the drywall in my renovation project. They worked quickly, cleanly and efficiently. There were a lot of intricate corners and details, and they nailed every one. Can't recommend them enough!

I used Thumbtack, Angie's list, and Home Advisor to get referrals for roofing contractors. I contacted at least 8 contractors to gather as much information as I could from each inspection and estimate, and relied on customer satisfaction to help me decide. Ray from Royce Roofing completed my inspection and provided me an estimate. His bid included all the specific tasks that were necessary to repair my roof ( Chimney flashing, new vents for bathroom fans, no flashing around edge, etc.) and included pictures of my roof and the areas that needed repairs. We signed our contract and Ray started the project one week later. He was on the job every day, and completed the whole project in 2 days with his crew. Great Workmanship!

If you are like me and you have shopped around, used your gut instinct, asked a hundred questions, researched the companies and the individuals and are lucky enough to have found this company.. There is a good chance you will be feeling pretty good after you have your own experience with them. Not only is the owner Ty knowledgeable, personable and professional, he is also able to direct his team to complete a job when he says he will and sooner than I expected and for less than I was quoted. When a common issue with my inside sheetrock and paint did come up, he discussed with me how we could take care of it without either party feeling put out. I am only willing to write this 5 star review just days after the job was complete because all work was done, all work site debris were removed and all issues addressed. I feel so damn good about choosing 503 roofing. 5 stars... thanks team 503 =).

I had a roofing crew come in last summer to install a new roofing system. I paid about $3500 for the whole thing and was very happy with the result until the fall and winter months. I had leaks all over the place. I tried getting in contact with the original roofers and realized they were no where to be found and without a CCB License to go after I was in the hole for $3500. That is when I called Emilio, with Roof it All, he came out and showed me all the mistakes the other guys had done and since I didn’t have much more money to pay he worked a deal with me and we were able to finance the whole new roof. In the end we went through the very wet Oregon winter without any more leaks. I am very happy with the work, communication, and responsiveness that Emilio and his people were able to provide. Definitely recommend this business to anyone who needs a new roof.

Tony and his crew did an excellent job during tear off and when installing the new shingles. He communicated well with me when sheets of plywood needed to be replaced and was very responsive to any changes that I requested. In a couple of instances he really went the extra mile. I am very happy with the job they did and my roof looks great. He is competitive and does excellent work. I highly recommend Tony (AAK Roofing) to anyone.

I could have just as easily rated them 5 stars and probably could have. The job cleaning my red brick roof was done satisfactorily and within proper time frames. They were professional and the price while not unreasonable had it been a bit lower would likely have rated 5 stars. That said would both recommend and hire them again.

We are happy to say that we chose Apex Home Solutions, LLC to re-roof our home. We were impressed by their very personal and professional salesmanship. Landon sat down with us and explained all the ins and outs of what the job would entail. He even provided us with digital pictures of our home with the color choices applied so we could envision our roof better. We were so pleased with the supreme quality and color choices that Owens Corning offered. After much consideration, we ended up choosing one of their Designer colors, Pacific Wave. The perfect choice for our home! The project manager, Bryan, won our confidence with his “can-do,” attitude. He assured us that replacing the roofing, the skylights and the rain gutter, as well as the steep pitch of the roof, were not going to be an issue. His crew showed up on time each day ready to work. They worked efficiently and thoroughly, cleaning up at the end of the day. Bryan was always available to make sure that we were satisfied with the progress of the project. Everything went smoothly without a hitch! Kudos to the roofing crew! Finally, the marketing team, Landon and Bryan along with their wives, Melissa and Cheryl get the highest praise for putting on a BBQ block party before the project even got started. They supplied everything...hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, salad, etc. To top it off, they gave away samples of their very own critically acclaimed homemade bbq sauce...which is the best we’ve ever had! KenaiPremierBBQsauce.com Thank you Apex! Mike and Sara Merritt

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
