Twelve weeks prior to walking into Superior Physique, I had changed my eating habits, started a reputable workout program at home, 5-6 days a week, with absolutely no progress to show for it. I take that back, my pants had actually began to fit me tighter than before I had started the program. Confused, frustrated and determined, I needed a change. I found Turk through Thumbtack.com. Like you, I read the reviews and took a chance. What will a consultation hurt, right? Its just a chat. Turk was professional, knowledgeable and very articulate. He took time to get to know my history, my goals and areas of opportunity. He takes something that can be scientifically complex (down right confusing), and breaks it down in easy to understand ways. I quickly learned why I wasnt seeing results and what I needed to do in order to change. My nutrition was out of balance, I was under eating and I needed to add in strength training. The first week, I thought, Oh my goodness, I have no idea what I am doing- this is a whole new world for me. I am not in Kansas anymore. I went to two sessions that week, a nervous wreck, a little nauseated, and had no idea what to expect. I cannot remember if I walked in with a terrified look or not but Turk quickly made me feel at ease. First, we went over nutrition in detail and then onto the floor. Turk explained and demonstrated the exercises, showing what muscle groups were being triggered and what the proper form of each exercise looked and felt like (He is fantastic at educating you). The hour flew by and I didnt die! I found myself wanting more. Seventeen weeks into my journey, Turk has far exceeded my expectations. I can honestly say working out with Turk has become my favorite part of the week. I look back in amazement of how much I have progressed over the weeks. I am thrilled with my results and love watching how my body transforms from week to week. I have gone from 27% body fat down to 21%, and gained 4lbs of muscle. With Turk as my partner in crime, there is no doubt that we will achieve my goals. Not only is Turk extremely knowledgeable and efficient, he is a positive and motivating guy that pushes you to your limits. The limits you had no idea were even there. He has opened my eyes to a world I have never considered before and I love every minute of my new journey. If you are anything like me cardio is easy and comfortable. Easy and comfortable doesnt always get you the results that you want or need. If it terrifies you, it transforms you. To me this was strength training and personal trainers. I took the leap of faith and taking a chance with Turk has been the absolute, best thing I have done for myself and for my health. Thanks to Turk, I am no longer terrified, I am transforming! I cannot say enough positive things about Turk Fickling A truly phenomenal guy that knows fitness! I have the upmost respect for Turk and highly recommend him to anyone who wants to make a positive change in his or her life!
I have five left thumbs, a busy career, and a toddler, so I knew starting a fitness routine would be a challenge. Lisa listened to my barriers, understood what I needed, and made the logistics and planning easy. She was generous with her laughter and ideas, and she set up a plan that was dialed in to my circumstances and fitness level. All I had to do was show up with a good attitude. Now I feel like I have a jump start, and my continued pursuit of fitness seems attainable. I will definitely be scheduling more time with Lisa!
Keri Ann is a unique trainer and massage therapists. I am a client for personal training, nutrition and also massage. Keri Ann walks the walk and talks the talk, which is important to me. She understands the true muscle structure and will work with any injuries you might have or if you have none at all! I enjoy the knowledge that she shares in order for me to understand why I am doing what I am doing. Also Why I should not be doing, for my body type in order to achieve the look or wellness that I am hoping for.
Elston Haywood is one of Portland's most premier personal trainers you can find.......why? First off he practices what he preaches. Have you ever noticed how many trainers now a days have a little gut going on but they are telling you that you need to be here (the gym) 4 days an week and eat better. ummm did you read that in a book or something because I don't see you following your own methods. Secondly and most importantly, he's there for you! It's not about the money, yes your paying a price, but lets be real it's a business. Don't be surprised if he gives you a few free session though. He truly wants to make you a healthier human being so you can reach your own personal life goals. You'll be surprised how much more in life you'll accomplish when your physically fit. LIFESTYLE EVOLVED is more then a name and it's more then a gym.

Working with Taylor was awesome! Most of my experience with trainers has been martial arts, strength training, and powerlifting, and I was once a trainer myself. I found Taylor on his Instagram and saw that he was a former collegiate track athlete, so I worked with him to incorporate sprint training into my workouts to get cardio in while building muscle. I personally don't enjoy cardio, so I knew that I needed an expert to hold me accountable. When I tried to sprint on my own, it KILLED my lower back and I didn't really know how the track lane markings worked. In my first meeting with Taylor, he walked me through all the track markings and proper sprint basics. We did mostly 100m for our sessions though. Taylor's attention to detail helped me sprint pain-free and so much faster, and my form was so much better. Juggling sprint training with powerlifting was rough and Taylor did a great job at picking the right exercises and drills at the appropriate intensity to keep me improving without over-reaching or over-training. Taylor also added in stuff that was relevant to my other goals like calisthenics and abdominal training, which I never do in my powerlifting gym and certainly not on my own. The results speak for itself. I went from being stuck at a max squat of 360 for months to squatting a max of 380 after several weeks of incorporating sprints. Favorite drill: Sandbag Sprints Training locations: Lincoln HS, Jackson Middle School
Let me start off by saying that I hate jogging to keep in shape. I will happily sprint around an Ultimate (Frisbee) field for hours, but I can't stand going for a run. When I started medical school and did not have time to play pick-up games, I got out of shape. With the club season for Ultimate on the horizon, I needed to get back on my game. I thought that in order to develop the speed, agility, and endurance I needed on the field, I would have to eventually do some running exercises. So I joined the gym in hopes that I could work out on my own time and have enough equipment to not get bored. But it was too overwhelming. I did not know how to structure a workout to fit my needs and did not have enough experience with the equipment to ensure proper form. Luckily, a guy at the gym recommended that I try a personal training package with Berley. Even though he has never played Ultimate, he knew exactly what I needed. Each session was unique, but challenging. Sometimes I came in slightly sore from the previous session, but he would have a workout that focused on using my muscles in a completely different way. Berley was great at recognizing when I could push myself further and when I needed a break. Even though the workouts were intense, I always felt really good about myself when I left. The best part: Berley never made me do any running :) Aside from feeling good at the gym, the results have been very noticeable on the field. I am able to sprint a lot faster than I ever had before. My endurance is better. I can jump higher. I am able to change directions more quickly. It feels good to be able to sprint equally hard when switching between defense and offense on a long point. It feels good to stay on the field for many consecutive points before feeling tired. It feels great to keep up with some of the best ladies in town and leave a lot of other people in the dust. And when I'm feeling tired on the field, I think of my sessions with Berley and tell myself that I have a lot more in me. Berley was an amazing and inspiring trainer. He helped me find strength that I didn't know I had and renewed my passion for fitness. I am sad he left Portland, but I feel lucky that I got a chance to train with him.
Julia has been a wonderful trainer. She does a fantastic job of tayloring our workouts to meet individual goals and needs. She has been especially attentive to motivating my wife to find activities that accommodate her personal challenges. I highly recommend Julia.
Brian is very professional and knowledgeable about various fitness techniques. I highly recommend him to anyone. You know he is good when other certified trainers are asking him for advice.
He really puts a lot of time and effort into getting to know who you are and getting to know what motivates you and makes you successful. I have trained with 6 different trainers over the years and he is by far the best.
Joe is helping me get ready for a 50K trail race this spring with some strengthening, skill and conditioning work. He's not a "meathead" trainer. He's thoughtful, listens to feedback and genuinely wants to help you reach your goals. Our workouts have been focused, individualized and challenging but he's very conscientious about preventing injuries and making sure form is spot on. I've only worked with a couple of trainers who impressed me, and Joe is one of them!
As a former professional athlete I have experienced numerous trainers. I have to say Shauna is one of the best! Her energy and knowledge is outstanding and fun! The results I have seen in such a short period of time have been truly impressive! I am very happy and would certainly recommend her to anyone looking to reach goals and make gains!
Right out the gate, Kam had me hooked. My workouts were custom made to increase my vertical leap. He had me doing a lot of injury prevention and intense strength training in each workout. Kam works at Adapt Training and a balanced injury prevention approach starts off on the get go. From the initial assessment that I got showing that my hips were extremely tight, he had me going home with a few stretches and moves that make the day after 10x better. Kam has it down and so does Adapt.
I have been working out with Luke for several months, he's the best! He is knowledgable, challenging and patient. He tailors the workout perfectly. I always leave feeling strong and energized. He's helped me immensely to heal and balance some old injuries that have been nagging me for years-- now I'm training for a half marathon! I am a chiropractor who specializes in rehab exercise. I know I can send any one of my patients his way, regardless of fitness level, with total confidence that they will be safe and well taken care of.
